"Hello Member I had numerous phone conversions with your husband and we had reached a mutual agreement. To be specific the second floor A/C system was broken when your husband called me. When my partner and I arrived we troubleshooted and found a broken start capacitor at the condensing unit(outside part) we went ahead replaced the capacitor and got the system running in a timely fashion knowing you had a newborn. three weeks later your husband notified me that the unit was broken again. I told him if it was something related to what I did including the possibility that the capacitor was defective there would be no charge whatsoever. I would have to charge you if something unforseen happened like a broken compressor due to a power surge or a broken blower motor in the indoor unit. A/c systems have many electrical and mechanical parts which can fail at any time without any warning. Your husband was happy with what I said and because it was cooler out he said he would call me in the spring so I can fix it. Just to reiterate, my offer to come back in the spring as stated as above still stands. I look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you Arthur"
"We would like to clarify the specifics of the work that was done at your homes. You had called us for an annual maintenance service to be performed on a boiler and a furnace at your primary residence and a boiler at your rental property. I gave you pricing of $150 per system totaling $450 in which you were in agreement and told us to go ahead with the work. If you were in any disagreement with the price, you could have told us not to do the work or negotiated the price. Upon completion of the work on the systems at your primary residence, we tested and ran all the heating zones and checked for normal operation. There was no signs of water leakage or any other potential problems that we could foresee. Unfortunately, problems do develop with older systems that are unforeseen maybe a week or a year down the road. In a case such as yours, a relief valve failing is not a part that we can determine the life expectancy. There are many factors that could cause the relief valve to fail such as a stuck water feed valve, bad expansion tank, defective high limit control, components in the relief valve deteriorated. The price of $500 was for the worst case scenario which would be replacement of all items above. It is impossible for a company to replace all those parts for $170. We would be at a loss. Furthermore, upon arrival at your “maintenance call” at your home in Roslindale, your tenant notified us that the heat has been broken since the spring and upon diagnosis of your system, we found a broken igniter on the boiler making this a “no heat service call.” We took the initiative to replace the part including labor free of charge since you were a new customer and also performed the maintenance as required. I wish you best of luck with this new company you hired from angieslist"
"I apologize for anwsering the phone with "hello" but i was expecting a call from my supplier in regards to a warranty issue i was having and thought it was them when you called. Like i said I'm not licensed to do Gas fitting but work with a licensed plumber who does. maybe we can do buisness in the future. Good luck with your conversion"
"Thank you very much for the report. It was a pleasure working for you."
"Thank you for your report and the chance to bid on your job. Just so that you are aware, we have combined 10 years experience in the HVAC trades and a combined 20 years in the construction trades. Our price was for the complete job including all subcontractors with no hidden extras. I was unaware of the competitors quotation and what it exactly entailed and included. So I was unable to compare my price with other contractors in order to stay competitive."
