They arrived on time and fixed our air conditioner, but, within a few weeks, it was broken again. When I called back to see if they would return since they just fixed it, they said we would have to pay them again, so I told them to forget about it. I was furious and our air conditioner still doesn't work (but that doesn't really matter since it's winter now).
Response from Fire & Ice HVAC LLC
"Hello Member I had numerous phone conversions with your husband and we had reached a mutual agreement. To be specific the second floor A/C system was broken when your husband called me. When my partner and I arrived we troubleshooted and found a broken start capacitor at the condensing unit(outside part) we went ahead replaced the capacitor and got the system running in a timely fashion knowing you had a newborn. three weeks later your husband notified me that the unit was broken again. I told him if it was something related to what I did including the possibility that the capacitor was defective there would be no charge whatsoever. I would have to charge you if something unforseen happened like a broken compressor due to a power surge or a broken blower motor in the indoor unit. A/c systems have many electrical and mechanical parts which can fail at any time without any warning. Your husband was happy with what I said and because it was cooler out he said he would call me in the spring so I can fix it. Just to reiterate, my offer to come back in the spring as stated as above still stands. I look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you Arthur"

They were great. There was a quick from the original call until the time they came out, and they were also very punctual. There was a problem while they were working on it, but they just fixed it, and let us know when they were finished. They were able explain everything that they did and I will definitely call them again.

Wonderful experience. They were at the top of the list so I gave them a try. They called back promptly, showed up the next day to survey and to estimate repairs. Showed up to do the work two days later and voila, the system is working as it should/

We were disappointed that they charged us for 2 separate service calls to our house, even though there were 2 furnaces done simulataneously. After work was completed, boiler overflow was pouring water onto the floor continuously. Called them up to tell them, again wanted $150 just to come over, and wanted to charge $150 for a small relief valve, and up to $500 for a small relief tank. I told them it was too exorbinant, and, using Angie's List, found another A rated heating company who is coming tomorrow. Worse case scenario for them, $170 INCLUDING parts. Moral of the story.....shop around.
Response from Fire & Ice HVAC LLC
"We would like to clarify the specifics of the work that was done at your homes. You had called us for an annual maintenance service to be performed on a boiler and a furnace at your primary residence and a boiler at your rental property. I gave you pricing of $150 per system totaling $450 in which you were in agreement and told us to go ahead with the work. If you were in any disagreement with the price, you could have told us not to do the work or negotiated the price. Upon completion of the work on the systems at your primary residence, we tested and ran all the heating zones and checked for normal operation. There was no signs of water leakage or any other potential problems that we could foresee. Unfortunately, problems do develop with older systems that are unforeseen maybe a week or a year down the road. In a case such as yours, a relief valve failing is not a part that we can determine the life expectancy. There are many factors that could cause the relief valve to fail such as a stuck water feed valve, bad expansion tank, defective high limit control, components in the relief valve deteriorated. The price of $500 was for the worst case scenario which would be replacement of all items above. It is impossible for a company to replace all those parts for $170. We would be at a loss. Furthermore, upon arrival at your “maintenance call” at your home in Roslindale, your tenant notified us that the heat has been broken since the spring and upon diagnosis of your system, we found a broken igniter on the boiler making this a “no heat service call.” We took the initiative to replace the part including labor free of charge since you were a new customer and also performed the maintenance as required. I wish you best of luck with this new company you hired from angieslist"

Completely positive experience. John and Arthur were punctual, courteous, considerate, clean, always on time and great to work with. They answered the phone when called, they explained their process and what they needed up front and at the end of the job. While the furnace is brand new and I don't know exactly know how it will perform yet, the unit looks perfect and knowledgeably installed. I would recommend Fire and Ice to anyone wanting to have a new furnace installed. I had many estimates for this job. They were not the cheapest and they were not the most expensive but they were very very good. They aren't a big company as it is just the two of them but what you get is consummate professionalism and a job well done.

Just a phone call, where they told me up front they could not do the work I needed. I gave them a "C" for professionalism because they just answered the phone with "Hello". I had to ask if I was talking to someone from Fire & Ice. They didn't try to promise something that they could not deliver, so they get extra points for honesty.
Response from Fire & Ice HVAC LLC
"I apologize for anwsering the phone with "hello" but i was expecting a call from my supplier in regards to a warranty issue i was having and thought it was them when you called. Like i said I'm not licensed to do Gas fitting but work with a licensed plumber who does. maybe we can do buisness in the future. Good luck with your conversion"

They came the same day I called, did the work that was needed and suggested some additional (not very expensive) measures that were needed to prevent a reoccurance of the problem and to help the system run better and longer. They came in the time window quoted, did the work required plus, and cleaned up carefully afterward. And they were incredibly nice, even after working hard in an incredibly dusty attic space where it was over 90 degrees. It was the most positive experience we've had with a contractor in a while.

Service is good. Made the call early in the morning and describe my situation, and they are very clear on what time and cost I should expect. Arrived on expected timeframe, and very professional and thorough in checking and explaining what they are doing. Not the cheapest but you get good professional service in return. Will use again in future.

I was shocked by how quickly they responded. I actually called on a Sunday thinking I'd only be leaving a message and they called me back a short while after and scheduled a visit for the next day. The problem they had to fix was actually quite simple and they did some extra work to correct the problem with the original system to make sure it never happened again.

Went well. Price was competitive and worth it for the quality job. Arty and John installed units in difficult locations. They both came a total of 6 days: part of a day to install concrete pad ahead of time, parts of 3 days for the units, 1 evening day to test/final adjustments and 1 afternoon to do a refinement test when very hot (85 in April!). Overall, very professional, responsive, friendly and good quality work. Very focused on making sure everything is working. Willing to listen to the customer.

They were very responsive, very prompt, and very friendly. The only thing I didn?t like about them was the price. I got a quote from another company that I liked better. I also liked the person from the other company better as he was more experienced than the one from Fire & Ice. The other company came more highly recommended.

"Thank you for your report and the chance to bid on your job. Just so that you are aware, we have combined 10 years experience in the HVAC trades and a combined 20 years in the construction trades. Our price was for the complete job including all subcontractors with no hidden extras. I was unaware of the competitors quotation and what it exactly entailed and included. So I was unable to compare my price with other contractors in order to stay competitive."

Old boiler was damaged beyond repair by recent basement flooding resulting in no heat. Regular plumber was unable to commit to a new installation. Contacted Fire and Ice and they able to do estimate next day. Other plumbers contacted either did not respond or could not provide estimate for another week. They were great to work with and completed the removal and installation in two days. Responded easily to questions and provided clear explanations. I would definitely use them again and recommend them.

This team offered excellent service from the beginning to the end of the project. A knowledgeable repairman answered my calls and emails quickly. They scheduled my sevice promptly and were very flexible in finding times that worked for me. Our heating system is a complex patchwork of old and new elements. They figured it out, identified the problem, and fixed it correctly the first time (!). They were very conscious of cost and gave me accurate estimates of each section of the job. They were well prepared with the correct parts and tools. Their work was tidy. From this experience I feel I can recommend them without reservation.

When I contacted them, they responded immediately and set up an appointment for the same day. Both owners, Arthur and Jon, came by. They had some great suggestions how to improve the set-up with the furnace in the basement. They were very knowledgeable, professional, and had a very positive attitude! They followed up a couple of days later to see if we had any questions. Unfortunately we decided to go with another, top rated company, which had quoted us a lower price. They did not live up to their reputation, so next time we need a heating specialist, we will give Fire and Ice a try.

I called Fire and Ice based on a single Angie's recommendation. It took a couple of calls to get our communication straight (they lost my phone number), but after that I really appreciated their clear and straightforward style. They came quickly, assessed the situation, gave a no-nonsense verbal estimate in fat round numbers (no "$2995.95") which they stuck to (even though thye installed a higher-quality furnace than was originally estimated). They were exceedingly clean, pleasant, and even kind to my curious 2-year-old who did not exactly speed them along. Very likable, responsible, quick, professional. I would definitely call them again.

I had an old and outdated oil fired boiler. Due to the price of fuel increases, I decided to upgrade to a high efficiency heating system. I also had thoughts of putting in a central a/c system too. Olympic Mechanical told me they could get a system that could give both heat and a/c off of the same unit called a hydrocoil. I was sold on the idea and in the long run it saved me money because I didn't have to set up a completely separate system for the A/C. When the company came to put in the system, they were very clean and neat and respectful of the things around my home. They did everything they said they were going to do. I will be using them for all my service and maintenance work.
