YURI'S WATCHES

Work was done on the spot within a few minutes.

GREAT SERVICE!   Yuri was hard at work when I walked in but acknowledged me (which I ALWAYS appreciate).  A minute or 2 later  when he finished what he was doing, I said I needed the batteries but expected to drop them off and pick them up maybe in a few days.  He said "I'll fix them for you now - why come back in the cold?".  10 or so minutes later they were done, price was completely reasonable, in fact less then I've paid for battery replacements in the past.  I WILL ABSOLUTELY go back to him in the future (or for watch repairs) and am enthusiastically recommending him.

He was excellent. He did the job the same day and did an excellent job. The price was very responsible for the job he did. I highly recommend.

It didn't go so well. The cost of the repair was way over the value of the watch. I didn't have it repaired.

I CALLED YURI'S WATCHES AHEAD TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE SOME WORK DONE ON MY WATCH.
WHEN I ENTERED YURI'S WATCHES, I WAS DIRECTED TO HIS WATCH REPAIR AREA IN THE BACK OF THE STORE. I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE MY WATCH REPAIRED. I EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS A GOLD WATCH THAT MEANT A GREAT DEAL TO ME, WITH MANY FOND MEMORIES. I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT I THOUGHT THE WATCH PROBABLY NEEDED A NEW BATTERY OR PERHAPS CLEANING AS WELL AS A BATTERY.
I ALSO EXPLAINED THAT THE GOLD WRISTBAND WAS BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.

HE LOOKED OVER THE WATCH, TOOK THE BACK OFF OF IT, CHECKED THE BROKEN WRIST BAND. THEN HE SAID, I WILL CHANGE THE BATTERY, I CAN REPAIR THE WRISTBAND (YOU REALLY DO NOT NEED A NEW ONE), AND IT WILL BE LIKE NEW. THEN SAID, and quot;THE COST WILL BE $30.00.
I WAS ABSOLUTELY and quot;FLOORED.and quot; HERE WAS A SHOP ON TRENDY NEWBERY ST. IN BOSTON , MA. WHERE I EXPECTED THREE TIMES HIS ESTIMATE AS AN ABSOLUTE BASE ... MORE IF I HAD TO BUY AN EXPENSIVE WRISTBAND.
I THEN ASKED HIM WHAT DAY I SHOULD RETURN TO PICK THE WATCH UP. HIS RESPONSE WAS and quot;IF YOU CAN STAY, I WILL HAVE THE WATCH AND WRISTBAND READY FOR YOU IN THIRTY MINUTES.and quot; IN THIRTY MINUTES MY WATCH WAS LIKE NEW.
YURI IS AN OUTSTANDING MAN WHO PROVIDES AN OUTSTANDING AND THOROUGH SERVICE. HE IS HUMBLE AND A GREAT PROFESSIONAL I HIS WORK. HE IS DIRECT IN HIS MANNER, HONEST AND A GENTLEMAN IN EVERY WAY
WHILE THIS STORY SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED.
I COULD NEVER RECOMMEND HIS PROFESSIONAL SERVICES ENOUGH.

I brought in two watches; one was a circa 1982 Seiko analog/digital watch with a non-functional mode selection button, and the other was a 1920 23-jewel Waltham Vanguard family heirloom pocket watch that did not run. Yuri opened the Seiko, determined that the mode switch contacts were misaligned, and repaired that in a matter of minutes for $10. He determined that the Vanguard had a damaged jewel, quoted $140, and asked if I wanted it fixed. Since this was a family heirloom, and I knew it to be worth far more than that, I said, "Yes." He suggest that I return about 2 1/2 hours later and called my cell before that. I was slightly disappointed that he hadn't done an accuracy check, and asked him to do so as I paid him. I was pleased, however, that he spend ten minutes or so fine tuning the accuracy even after having been paid (and near closing time at that.) He's plainly a conscientious guy. As some have noted, he is a man of few words, but a very nice guy.

Yuri put a new battery in my watch immediately. Much less expensive than the watch store down the street. Did a great job!
