Received items, had one bad entry sensor. Called because we needed to add more sensors (9) and 1 glass break sensor. Asked if we could return the two motion detectors since our dogs are 100 pounds and we could not use them, and they said since we purchased them through Angie's List we could not. Would be different if we had purchased them through their site. Doesn't say much for getting them through here.

A company that stands behind its customers ...... Who could ask for more.
Description of Work: I've been a customer for about 6 months now. My system base station started making a beeping noise and I looked online for the issue. I could not find it so I called into technical support and they diagnosed it as low battery levels and ordered and shipped me the new batteries at no cost to me. Most companies would be more than willing to SELL me batteries but simplisafe shipped me the batteries at no cost.

They responded quickly, followed up with emails, shipped quickly to me & I was able to install it quickly and easily. You cannot beat the price. You don't have to sign up with a contract. It works great! They sent me enough for 3 doors and 1 window. I got 4 devices for my sensors, and the tower. They offer monthly monitoring for a very low price as well.

Theirs is a product of which receives top marks. The base station as well as the sensors are a strong construction. The base station fits a contemporary visual appeal. The response time of the base station from the sensors being tripped are quick without any lag. The wireless signal does not interfere with other signal from my other devices (cell phone, wireless router, or even remotes). This is truly plugin ready system with minimal configuration.

The unit was easy installed and works good, one problem the sticky some times doesn't stick!
Description of Work: The paper work said after set up they would call within 72 hrs when they did not call I called and stayed on the line for 6 minutes. I left a message it took several hours to return my call. I hope I never have to use service but wonder if the call out will be fast?

During the first 72 hours, you are in what is called Practice Mode, which means that you will not receive calls from the monitoring center. After this period, you will not automatically receive a call, however, you will receive one if you ever trip the alarm (whether on purpose, or have an actual alarm event) or if you send out a test signal! Upon activating the system exactly according to their manual, I noticed that my home phone line went dead. I called the service rep and tried to get my home line back with no luck, including all of his help. I carefully repacked and returned the system for a refund. It took over 2 months to finally get a refund check, and I had to go through at least 5 different so-called service reps, several who would not return my calls, to finally get a check. Several times I was lied to by being told that the Post Office returned the check, which I learned was very unl 66

We chose to change from another security system to SimpliSafe to reduce our monthly monitoring bill and to get more features. After placing the order for the special package, I contacted the company to have additional equipment added on. The company was able to do that without a problem and include it with my original order. Once we received the equipment, installation was simple and instructions were clear. After setting up, found that the voice prompts from the base station were not as loud as the previous system even when turned to the max. Still able to get visual confirmation from the keypad. If the base isn't near the keypad (supposed to be a benefit to this system), someone hard of hearing might not hear the prompts to turn off the system. It's a little different, but still a great system for the price. We have been pleased overall with the system and the responsiveness of the monitoring.

SimpliSafe offers a 60 day trial to use the product, as seen in their website. After a careful consideration (reading through their service coverages and limitations), I decided that this home security product is not fit for me. The items are unused, packages are sealed and not open upon received in Sep 11, 2014 and I plan return to them as received. I purchased this product through Angielist on Aug 31, 2014. Since Simplisafe offers a 60 day trial guarantee, I request your assistance for a full refund to my credit card. Once we got the system up and running, it has not been working well. The motion sensors are not working properly. The alarm went off and no one ever called and the police never showed up. The keypad does not light up bright enough in the dark to punch the correct numbers in. I also wish it would have come with a yard sign and not just a sticker decal for the window. I am just requesting a refund on this system.

Phone operator was very friendly and didn't make any hard sale attempts or try to dissuade me from returning. Was simply friendly and helpful. Reordering similar package at a better price directly through Angie's List as SimpliSafe provides a similar service to other security companies but is priced a bit better, has no long-term contracts and lets you cancel or return with zero hassles.

When we relocated, we looked into updating the alarm system in our new home, which was pre-wired. However, every company that we talked to or came out, gave us high estimates, insisted on selling us more than we needed, AND everyone wanted a three year commitment. We had a semi-wireless system in our previous residence, that was plugged into our phone line. That company had required a two year contract and we purchased our equipment, but when we moved, they wanted a new agreement and for us to purchase new equipment. So we looked around and compared several other "wireless" and less expensive systems out there. We found SimpliSafe on CNET, and decided to give it a try. At the time I did not see SimpliSafe on Angie's List. We began with the Economy System which starts at $259.95 and includes: 1 Base Station, 1 Wireless keypad, 1 keychain remote, 1 motion sensor, 4 entry sensors, 1 yard sign, & 2 window decals. From there we built up our system to meet our specific needs by purchasing additional entry sensors, glassbreak sensors, and smoke detectors. The price came up to roughly $480. We initially tested the motion and glassbreak sensors, but decided not to use the motion sensor because even upside down, the acrobatic antics of our large dogs and semi-wild cat, would set them off. Having used wireless sensors before I was very surprised at how large the entry sensors are, and it took some imagination to put them in place on several non-standard windows. They are about 3/4 inch thick and 2 inches long. The base station is plugged in, but it has a battery so it does not rely on electricity to run. According to the SimpliSafe website, it can run two days on the battery before it needs to be recharged. The rest of the equipment is battery operated. The Wireless keypad is separate from the base station and can be set up anywhere. We initially purchased the $14.99 24/7 monitoring, but then decided to go with the interactive monitoring, which is only $10 more. It is worth it for me because: I can check the system on my PC, laptop, tablet, and phone; I can turn the system ON or OFF with my phone; I can see who comes in or out of the house (each person has their own code). This also allowed me to enter each sensor in and rename them on my PC, as well as enable or disable certain sensors (this can be done manually too) from my phone. The alarm was set off only once so far. We adopted a new dog that happens to be a climber, and when she knocked over a panel, it set off the glassbreak. The monitoring station called me, and since it was only the glassbreak sensor and nothing else that went off, I asked them to let me check the house first since I was just down the street. Sure enough, it was the dog and I called back and let them know, which saved us from getting a false-alarm recorded with the police. The service has been excellent. The only thing I don't understand is that the Economy Package, which is $260 on the website - http://simplisafe.com/home-security-system-economy - is being advertised on Angie's List as a $259 special with a $350 value, however the $350 Classic Package on the website - http://simplisafe.com/home-security-system-classic - comes with the same but includes a smoke detector and an extra siren. In other words, if you buy the Angie's List special of $259, you're only saving a dollar over the Website's Package.
Description of Work: The equipment was received in a timely manner. Clear set up instructions were provided, as well as reminders to file an alarm permit with the local police department.

I purchased a Simplisafe Home Security System through Angis's List. The price of the package through Angie's List was very good. The Simplisafe website is also very well done and easy to navigate. I was disappointed that it took Simplisafe 3 days to ship the order from their distribution facility. The system arrived with very clear and easy instructions. However the system did not work. Not only did they send the base unit with the wrong mobile provider card, the base unit would not work connected to my regular phone jack. I called Simplisafe customer service and after being on hold for approximately 20 minutes they informed me that they needed to send out another base unit. I asked how long it would take to be delivered and was informed that it could be up to a week. I am very disappointed that after waiting over a week for the initial system to arrive I will have to wait at least another week for a new base unit. At least if I would have contacted a company that sent an installer they may have been able to get everything operational without this constant shipping delays. I was very surprised that Simplisafe did not offer to expedite shipping on a defective part that was paid for days ago.

To say that it is "complete" is a bit misleading. Unless you live in an efficiency or studio maybe. You will end up needing to purchase additional sensors and other parts and it adds up quickly... Also there have been some problems. The alarm went off one day when nobody was home and nothing was found when police surveyed the home. It was a "false alarm." We do have dogs and there is a motion sensor, however the motion sensor was installed exactly per the instructions so as not to pick up the dogs (upsdie down, at a certain height)....So I am not sure what happened there. But if ut happens again the county will fine us... Also, now it is saying that it is not linked up for dispatch. When I called about this we did some trouble shooting over the phone and they said they will have to send me a part for verizon since the tmobile (existing) part is not functioning in the home.
Description of Work: This is a self-installed home alarm. Also, it is hard to get a person on the phone when you call the company. It rings forever, then you can leave a voicemail. Then they call you back hours later. ..

The system works fine, and I haven't had any problems with it. My main issues are dealing with Simplysafe. When I called as a prospective customer a couple times, my calls were immediately answered. Every time I've called since for support, there is a long wait to get to someone. Also, they don't have any off-hours alarm service support. The hardware works, but the company obviously is focused more on getting new customers than providing support to those they have.
