The alarm package arrived within a few days after ordering and everything was included as advertised. Installation, (self install), went very smoothly as instructions were clear and complete. My previous wireless alarm system, which I left at my former residence, was a "professional" type and I learned, painstakingly, to program it myself. The SimpliSafe system is far easier to install and in my opinion as good or better than the other system.

Installation was easy. We called SimpliSafe for help a few times. They knew their equipment and quickly helped problem solve. We bought and installed this system in our daughter and son in law's home. They have used the system for over a year now. Billing was exactly as described in advertisements with no hidden fees added. All has gone very well. We would definitely purchase again.

09/22/15 Update: Since I wrote my review below and Simpli Safe responded below, one of their employees also reached out to us directly that same week (Josh?), by phone. Josh was polite, accepted responsibility for the problem with the sensors, and helpful. He recognized all the steps we had already taken to amend the problem. He then made a phone appointment with my spouse at a time during the weekend when my spouse was available, so together they could walk through new settings for our alarm sensors. These settings were not something we could of sorted ourselves so we were happy he made the effort to work with us. Nor he did not suggest we simply turn the sensors upside down. With Josh's help, our alarms were reset so they are no longer go off unnecessarily (false alarms), he organized a refund on one of the alarm center charges that resulted from one of the false alarms, he sorted out the problem with my spouse's phone not receiving Simpli Safe text alerts, and he made himself available in case we had more troubleshooting needs. This was an excellent response. My spouse and I both appreciated Josh's attitude and effort. Josh's responses was head and shoulders over the original, pithy, customer service response below -- which simply tossed the problems back to us to solve. So Josh is super! Then, I waited to write this update to see if the new settings and all were effective. And I am happy to report they are effective! No false alarms since March 2014. As a result of Josh's troubleshooting we are now enchanted with our Simpli Safe system. We even added a fire alarm to the set of sensors we installed. Josh (I hope I have your name right), Thank you for stepping up and taking the time to fix the problem. You treated us with respect and were very helpful. If only more organizations had people like you to work with. Original Review: The ?A, B, C? grading system is hard for me to apply to Simpli Safe. Quick read: We have had the system for almost one year. Simply put is has been an annoying (and expensive ?see below) burden to manage, it has a fast response when an alarm is triggered, it is affordable, and it is easy to install. Therefore, overall, I say ?C?. Longer read: My review reflects our experience over the past nine+ months. If I could give Simpli Safe the system back and receive a refund,I would. Or, if I they would promptly fix the bugs so I didn?t need to worry about false alarms and adjusting (or fixing) settings, I?d change my mind. Their customer service representatives are polite, knowledgeable, and helpful but they seem limited in what they can do to fix issues and bugs. As well, Simpli Safe?s customer service is only open Monday through Friday east coast hours. This makes it tough for my husband and me to get in touch with them since we are on the west coast. The equipment: Cellular, affordable and dead easy to install. But after we installed it last summer, we had to do a lot of work to set-up and organize our account preferences via Simpli Safe?s web portal. Then, for the first three months it seemed to work well for the most part. Then, the service started to be a burden to manage and keep sorted. For example, my husband has tried numerous times to set it up so he receives alarm center text messages incase an alarm goes off but still but with no success. Customer service has been vague on why this might not be working. Still the biggest frustration, we have had A LOT of false alarms. We have two small cats. Each weigh under 10 pounds, a combined 20 pounds on their pudgy days. Before we purchased Simpli Safe?s system, we researched this point with them. Simpli Safe advertises their motion sensors to allow for a lower weight limit of 40 pounds. Nothing under that should set-off the motion sensors. Still, our motion sensor units have set off a number of false alarms, I?ve lost count how many but at least nine or ten. In a number of phone calls with Simpli Safe?s customer service team regarding this, customer service has explained actually motion sensors can go off at much lower levels. The solution offered: try dropping the sensors down to about three or four feet above the floor, turning them upside down --towards the ceiling. This way they explained, the motion sensors miss the first few feet of the floor. For us that means putting the sensors in awkward, visibly obvious places and leaving our floor space unmonitored ? that?s 1/3 of our house after all that would not be monitored. And whose cats only stay about three feet from the floor? The other solution offered, retire the two motion sensors and replace them with entry alerts. That would mean we buy 9 new sensors. Our house is only 660 feet. Nine new sensors to replace two sensors that don?t work properly seems a poor deal. Other example, we purchased the outdoor siren. It is promoted to be quite a loud blast of sound. At first it was somewhat loud but I?m guessing with all the false alarms, since it has gone off so often now, it is losing battery power. Now, the neighbors can barely hear it. As well, the interior alert from the tower is under whelming. So, now combine these facts: if the alarm center cannot reach me and my husband depends heavily on text messages to make him aware something is amiss but he cannot get text messages, and we have had numerous false alarms, so we have ended up paying The City of Seattle for two of them we did not catch. That equals $200 to us. Luckily, our neighbors did help catch the others but they have now grown impatient on this point. We?ve grown tired calling of Simpli Safe?s customer service. Now, until we decide to just chuck it and buy other equipment, our strategy is to be vigilant about catching alerts when the alarm is going off. Our vigilance used to be directed at monitoring criminal activity?now it?s been redirected to babysitting our alarm system. So, this all means, our Simpli safe system has become a pain in our toukass. I?ll give it to Simpli Safe on these points, which are not insignificant to me: 1) Friendly and genuinely-interested-in-helping customer service representatives, 2) A mobile app that works well and we like a lot, 3) cellular is a great choice over wired, and 4) the alarm center?s reaction time. When the alarm goes off, their alarm center goes into action immediately. The chain of command for whom to contact first is diligently and rapidly followed. And if it comes to it, Simpli Safe?s alarm center calls the police and they come, which is not the case with many alarm companies. Though we have had to pay annoying costs for this promptness and adherence to process, we appreciate and respect the fact that Simpli Safe?s alarm center follows the procedure quickly and efficiently.

These systems are the wave of the future - GOODBYE central alarm monitoring with huge upfront price for installation and outrageous costs for monthly monitoring and maintenance. I have these systems in two different homes. I am really amazed at the quality of the service, the friendliness of the support staff and the ease of putting the system in. (I am otherwise NOT a do-it-your-self person!). After spending a fortune on alarm systems for decades, I am thrilled to have a system that seems reliable, and the people on the phone are amazingly courteous and helpful - all for a fraction of the cost - and I feel I am in control - not some alarm company.

Alarm was super easy to set up. I had a problem getting the system to send a test message to the alarm center but after a few emails back and forth we are up and running. Now I can get rid of my land line that was just used for previous alarm. I'm now paying 1/2 of what I was paying before for the monitoring.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this system. Very well researched obviously. Excellent quality and service. Easy to install. I have set off alarm by accident several times and they instantly call to check on us. Very easy to install. A minor glitch that they do not tell you is that if you don't subscribe to monitoring there is no way to have the system notify you in case of a break-in. I will keep it as a deterrent as it will sound an alarm but if it doesn't notify you what good is it. Just another company selling monitoring.

Best Price & reliability of an alarm system I found. In one false alarm incident in which I forgot to call off the alarm, the police was here in less then 10 minutes. Definitely recommend to anyone interested in protecting your home or business. If you have an apartment, you can take it with you when you move and sets up easily in your new residence.

While the concept of the system is good (wireless, self-install, low cost, etc), the nickel-n-dime you approach is not. For a basic monitoring plan, where upon an alarm trigger SimpliSafe will call you first before sending police/fire, you pay 14.99 a month. That's fine. If there is a device problem (I.e. low battery, communication failure, device not secure, etc.), which I have had, the keypad will display the serial number of the device and the base station will verbally announce the issue. But, that's just it, you hear a generic "problem with sensor" and the keypad displays a serial number. Unless you logged the serial numbers and the locations you have no idea which device is having an issue. The system does have the ability to name the sensors using the USB remote key that syncs with the base station then you use a computer to edit information so that the keypad will display the name/description; however, in order to do that, one must upgrade to the interactive monitoring at $24.99 a month. The interactive monitoring does include the ability to remotely arm/disarm the system and some other online features, but why should it cost $120 bucks a year to simply name your devices so that you can easily know which device has an issue? I don't want all the interactive features and its not like naming the devices involves the simplisafe staff or 'interactive' system features to be complete. If I want to pay 24.99 a month I will go with a local company with wired devices. Also, the lack of a 24 hour call center for support is not all that helpful.

Installation was a breeze. I was replacing an existing system from TW and all I had to do is replace each contact and placing the provided ones. I was up and running in about one-half hour. Activation was also a breeze, all done online. Testing was simple. Angie's list price of $199 made up my mind and cut my monthly costs in half. Highly recommended.

It was simple. WE just went by the instructions and installed it and when we encourntered one problem with setting the system up they walked us throught the step on the phone and it was set up right away.

Everything was fine. My husband did the installation. We were billed twice but that was not a problem. Everything was taken care of fine. Its in working order and we're pleased. My husband would know the monthly fee. I know its a lot cheaper than the other security systems. We received it pretty quickly after it was ordered. It was within a week from the time that it was ordered. I was very pleased with it. My husband did talk to someone about it. They're building a home, they had looked at the system and they came up in conversation about it. My husband told them that we were very happy with how it came. Its very easy to install the things that we needed to. So far, its been great.
