My floor looked horrible before. Rotten here and there and parquet pieces unglued and coming off, etc. I didn't even think it was possible to repair. On top of that, this is a 9.5" parquet that nobody makes anymore. I had a quote from 2 other places. One quoted $1900 and cannot guarantee that the work can be done until they find the matching wood. The other didn't even try. He said he would come back with a quote and never did. LS came out and told us that the work can be done. They said it with such confidence that we were hesitant at first, but we had no other option at the time. 2 guys came out to do the work. They were puntual, professional, and nice. The work was done when they said they would, and the floor looks great. I am most impressed with the patching work they've done. They did a good job finding the wood that matches. I would definitely hire these guys again. Highly recommended.

They did a wonderful job and were extremely clean. The patch jobs were matched perfectly. My floors are 100 yr. old quarter sawn oak and D*** was able to match all of the boards, you cannot see where the patches begin or end! I was a little concerned about replacing some of the boards, but D*** assured me it would look great, and sure enough, he was right. Will definitely hire them again.

They were very good. They were serious, on time and did qualitative work. I would tell others that they are fine and to absolutely go with them. Their quality was excellent. Their price was decent. They did a good job. They answered all our questions right away. They also fixed the problems we had immediately. I would definitely use their services in the future too.

When we bought our house, we knew we would get the floors done before we moved in. There had been carpet over the wood floors for years and years, and what was underneath was not pretty. Upstairs, the pine floors looked irreparable and had tons of paint on them. Downstairs, they had used concrete in some spots to level out the carpet. We had about 5 businesses give us quotes on what to do with the floors in our house. One guy told me to re-do all the floors. Another told me to re-do the upstairs, and he could repair the first floor. D*** told he could repair (sand) the upstairs, and could keep about 10% of what was downstairs. He was the best of them all at explaining why he would do certain things, and why replacing the floors would be the best solution where it was appropriate (it involved some of the wood being very old and that the thickness of that wood wasn't widely available - i.e. reasonably priced - any more). That's why we chose him. It seemed like his price was near the best as well, but the quotes I got were essentially all for different jobs. I gave them a C for professionalism because his workers smoked cigarettes in my house. I didn't at first specifically say that it was a no-smoking zone, but I would have thought it would be understood. I called him the first time, and he said he'd take care of it, but it happened again, as I found some butts in my toilet the next time I stopped by. We never smelled the cigarettes of course, because of all the sanding and polyurethane. D*** also didn't realize that when I said my wife and I would "pull up the carpet," that didn't mean we'd also take up the tack strips (another person that gave me the quote specifically mentioned that he understood that we wouldn't be taking that up, and that he had special tools for that anyway). He didn't alter his price for doing that, although it pushed the project out a day or two. He understood when we were moving in, and the delay in the project did not affect our move-in at all. That said, this was hardly a nightmare and the end result was actually pretty great. We love our floors.

We got several quotes and decided to go with L&S. D*** clearly knows his floors as it is a family business. Clearly he was very busy and sometimes difficult to reach. Initially we almost decided against using them as he did not return calls. However when he did it was smooth sailing. D*** guided us on the type of wood to buy and even gave us the source from where he buys which mad us confortable. They did a very good job of the re-finishing and laying of the floor. All in all, and as we knew when we decided to work with them, they are a small outfit and very busy so there is clearly some juggling of jobs, but the balance is the reasonable prices they offer and the good work they do

Very professional and comes through as promised, in the time frame promised. No drama at all with this small job, which is exactly what I was looking for. Great to work with, easy to deal with, very responsive. Looking at having DH install new hardwood in my kitchen right now!

It went quite well. At $1/sf, one can't expect miracles, but overall the quality of the work was well worth it. The impact was felt after we walked through the front door for the first time and saw the gleaming wood in the sunshine. There were a few areas upstairs and near the baseboard heat that were a little sloppily urethaned (too thick and rough to the touch). I had to call D*** and have him redo a couple of spots where the tech had forgotten to sand down wood filler stains that covered their face nailing, but he did so in a prompt and courteous manner. It took 3 days... a day for sanding and patching, and two days for applying polyurethane.

L&S were great - I called them on a Wednesday and they came up Thursday to take a look at the work, quoted me a price and then got to work on Friday and finished on Saturday (coming back the following Wednesday to put on the final coat). Really nice folks, accommodating and professional. They do a good job keeping the dust to a minimum and keeping the work space clean, and then did a great job putting things back to normal upon completion. I've got a lot more floors to do in the future, and I'll definitely turn to them.

When I contacted L & S I was just looking for a price. They came out to my house on the day of the appointment right on time and gave me the best price I had gotten for the job. They were very professional and accommodating. The job was broken into two segments so to give me time to empty the rooms and move furniture around so they can work. They showed up on the days that they were supposed to on time, and even with adverse conditions (bad Home Depot Bruce hardwood floors experience), they completed the work on time. Very hard working and honest people. Highly recommended.

We spoke with owner D*** Huynh back in August 2009, he provided a quote and advice on the range of options available to us and 2 competitive lumber suppliers so we could source the timber needed to complete the kitchen. In October we contacted L&S to schedule the work. D*** promptly returned to confirm the quote and arrange the dates of service. As promised, the crew started on Monday and finished on Thursday. The quality of the work and tidiness of the house was beyond reproach. Just three trash bags neatly sealed were all that were left for us to put out in the week's garbage - no dust or dirt anywhere! D*** was always attentive, answered his phone whenever we called and acted in professional manner at all times. We felt comfortable leaving the key to the house with D*** and his crew. It was a pleasure to work with D*** and I highly recommend him and his company.

D*** answered the phone cheerfully and promptly made an appointment for an estimate. He warned me that the water-damage and marks might not be totally removed, but he was confident that he could do as well as anyone. Since I needed the bedroom finished within two weeks, before my son returned home from a two year mission, I immediately hired him and D*** scheduled the work for the following Monday. The crew of two came Monday morning and returned on day three to finish, just as D*** said they would. They were polite, cheerful, and very professional. They cleaned up thoroughly and took away all the sanding dust. The sanding removed all the damage and the room looks great - which is saying a lot for a 120 year old room.! I will definitely call D*** again and recommend him highly.

L&S removed *a ton* of tile and underlying concrete and installed the new hardwood floor. All while I was away on a business trip, providing minimal disruption for me. It was a very good experience and I'd certainly go with them again. My only complaints are a few nicks in the walls, and I don't know if this is good or bad, but they caulked between the floor and the baseboards. My other floors don't have this caulk, and I don't know if this is good (e.g. better insulation) or a quick fix.

Super!! What a great company! They completed the job on schedule, took extra care with some of the tougher parts of the job -- the stairs especially -- and left a tired old Victorian looking spiffy again. I was extremely satisfied with the experience from start to finish, starting with the responsiveness of the owner, the estimate, and the completion of the work.

D*** was very knowledgeable, honest, and spent time discussing our project with me in detail, explaining the pros and cons. His quote was very reasonable. After discussing with him, we decided not to refinish for now (he explained that our floors had been factory finished and they might come out lighter when refinished). However I would not hesitate to use him. He made a really excellent impression.

D*** came to the house to give an estimate on time as scheduled. They started the job as promised. The floors were sanded. There were some sanding marks in the stair treads, and when I pointed this out, they were fixed immediately. The house was pretty well cleared of the dust from the sanding. The job was started and finished as promised.

I was blown away by the speed, professionalism, quality, and price - not to mention the stunning results. They worked around my schedule so that they could complete the work while I was away on a business trip, got everything done when they said it would be done, and cleaned up after themselves. They even took the extra step of covering up some things on my counters that I had left sitting there. In addition, they were extremely considerate of my neighbors - I was worried about the sander starting up early in the morning and disturbing people, but they held off until after 9 a.m. so I didn't get any complaints. Of all the great contractors I have found through Angie's List, these guys are at the top of my list. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. I've already asked them to install hardwood floors in my new condo and I can't wait to see the results.

They were good. The man who came out was very nice and very knowledgeable about wood. He definitely knew what he was talking about. They were the most expensive but they were worth it because of the quality of their work. There was an initial communication error, but they fixed the problem. One last thing is that one of the workers left 2 cigarette butts outside my house. That was a little annoying but the quality of work was just great.

We hired Dong on the spot when he came back with a competitive estimate and was forthright about what to expect with some of the more serious staining and surface damage. We left a check for the full amount on Sunday night and his team showed up on Monday and finished on Tuesday. Since we aren't occupying the house yet, I have no idea what happened - other than they were magically refinished without having to lift a finger!

L&S gave one of the more competitive bids - $1850. At that time the stairwell was still under carpet and the upstairs hallway under linoleum tiles. I agreed to take up both, but L&S assumed some risk in not knowing exactly what they would find underneath. Due to delays in plastering and painting, I had to push the job start date back twice. Although I know they had other jobs, L&S was flexible and was able to start the first day I was ready for them. As it happened, Dong's team spent significantly more time on the sanding than they had anticipated on account of the tar paper in the hallway. But they didn't complain and didn't renegotiate the price. Once the sanding was done, they did one coat of sealer and two of finish, as we contracted. Results: The floors turned out great! One contractor had told me the wide board pine floors were too old, soft, dry, and damaged to be refinished but Dong assured me they would turn out and indeed they look fabulous. My only critique: In some tight spots around stairwell spindles and the like they did not get the floors completely smooth. I attribute this to the extra time they spent on the upstairs hall and had I not been in such a rush to get the job done, I would have offered some more money for them to fix those spots. That detail aside, I am very happy with their work and intend to contract with them again to do the back stairwell as well as a patch job in the front hall where flooring was laid around a piece of furniture I've had removed. In fact, given the extra time they put in, I rounded up the payment to an even $2,000.

The work went really well. They were timely. I called on a Tuesday at the end of the month and wanted the work done by the first of the month. They came out and did the work a few days after I called which was great. I purchased an environmentally friendly version of a polyurethane and they used it, the took off $25 because I provided this. The owner was very friendly and took great care when completing the work.

Choose L&S because in large part because they were the most helpful and friendly on the phone in explaining what they do, and the price was competitive. They sanded down the floors and put down one coat of lacquer sealer and two coats of polyurethane over the course of three days. The floors look great! The only complaint I have is that the chemical smell takes a long time (several weeks) to dissipate.

My husband ripped up old carpet from a bedroom in a house we just purchased. He said it was rotten and the padding was kind of stuck onto the flooring. We looked into doing it ourselves, but decided that was unwise for novices, as this floor was old and had been re-done before. This was Thursday late afternoon and we were moving in on Sunday. I had 3 companies to call and Dong was the only one to answer. I told him the story and told him I really needed this done by Sunday. He said he could come and do it tomorrow (Friday) and then put the final coat on Saturday. I asked him for an approximate cost and he said $350-400. He came the next day and did the job. My husband said they were great. Dong saved the floor. The cost of doing it ourselves would have at least been a couple of hundred and we probably would have made a mess of it. Wonderful job done!
