Diagnosis and repair were straightforward and the talented Mike, who has done other great work for us on our ACs, had a replacement pump in his truck. Swapped over in under an hour. Cost of the repair was quite high, mainly due to very high price they charged for the pump. A Taco pump that I could buy for $175 was priced on this repair at more than $500. I get that it was an urgent situation and I’m happy to pay reasonably for the response but that mark-up bothered me. I called the office, had a long talk with the owner; sadly, she offered no consideration at all. Yes, it’s hard to find and keep skilled techs, but now seems that most HVAC firms have a business model like a car dealer’s service dept, far more corporate, less flexible or customer-considerate.

UIC was quick to respond and come up with the quote. Quote was very competitive against others. They were not so eager to do service on my old water heater though (I asked them to replace anode rods). I decided to go with them since their availability was good (2wks) and ratings on AngiesList were excellent while price was competitive. The job went well, though not without hiccups. I was expecting new boiler to be placed on the wall next to the foundation; though they built a new wall in the middle of the mechanical room, which costed me space; they said it will be 3K more to put in on the wall AFTER they arrived on the job with all the equipment and team. They refused to drain old water from my radiant heat system, saying I need a plumber to come for $290 per hour for 4 hours to drain the system and look for preexisting leaks. Had to hire some other plumber who took care of the problem for $215 in a mere hour. After the project was complete, system started to experience leaks. It was due to new drain connector that they decided to use for this project, and I was apparently first customer for it. After 3 unsuccessful attempts to fix the leak, they had to replace the connector, which addressed the issue. In addition, the system was eligible for rebate; however the rebate amount promised ended up being $450 less than actually paid; they quoted natural gas rebate though my system was on propane, which I told them upfront.

My furnace was running weak. Unique Indoor Comfort, whom I had hired before, advertised a $99 diagnostic, which their secretary confirmed over the phone. It turned out that the output pressure was just too low, but I owed an additional $260/hr for 1.5 hours that I was not informed of ahead of time. I first heard this hourly rate when I was handed the bill. When I complained to the owner, he not apologetic in the slightest. I've never had any problem with the quality of their work, but without transparent pricing, I will not be calling them again.

The repair went well. Our HVAC system would not turn on so Mike showed up earlier than scheduled (I was called first for the ok) and got right to business. He found the problem- a blow fuse in the unit itself. Once he replaced the fuse the system still would not turn on, but the circuit board that runs the system did light up. he checked out the electrical to make sure there was not a short that caused the problem. It seemed baffling as to the issue so he went outside and checked to see if the electrical issue was at the compressor. Sure enough an animal had chewed thru some of the wiring on the compressor. He spliced the wires together and the system started up, I applaud him for not assuming that the board was faulty and just replacing the board. I would say that Mike did an A+ job troubleshooting to determine what the issue was. The only problem was the cost, and I suppose I should have asked more questions. I asked how much to come out and was told $99 to troubleshoot, but I never asked what other charges apply. Apparently the charge is $99 just to show up and troubleshoot the issue, then $220 per hour is added to that for Mike's time there. I felt $319 was a little steep, but perhaps that is the going rate. I want to emphasize that Mike did an excellent job of solving the issue.

Morgan was super professional and thorough. He gave me some great advice regarding my heating appliances. Honestly it was the first time I got straight answers. I highly recommend them. No bs, just great work.

Unique replaced my 20 year old high velocity air handler, condenser, and separate mini-split systems. Overall everything looks and works great! I was impressed by the dedication of their team - working in my attic in 95 degree heat, installing a smart thermostat for me, and even removing/killing a giant wasp nest that was in the eaves! They also accommodated my request to remove the condensers a few weeks before the new install, so I could do some landscaping work. Price was also quite reasonable. Definitely recommend.

Unique Indoor Comfort are, point black, fantastic. They are timely, skilled, great communicators, hard workers, and awesome partners to work with on a project. Our head technician, Johnathan, was especially fantastic - I could not recommend him more highly for HVAC services. The owner Steve was thorough and personally oversaw the beginning and end to the project to ensure my wife and I were satisfied with the quality of the work being done. When the capacitor of our previously existing A/C blew on a 95 degree day a few days ago, Steve personally came to the house and got us back up and running the SAME day. Fantastic relationship manager and great guy all around. You will not be disappointed going with Unique Indoor Comfort! They do it right start to finish.

We could not have been more pleased. We needed to replace our first floor AC, which is a split-type ductless system, about 17 years old. We had an idea of what the cost would be from an online site: [*** Link removed ***] We got 4 bids, 3 from A rated Angie's List contractors to install a Mitsubishi system (top of the line). Except for one, which was off the charts, the bids weren't that far apart. While Unique was not the lowest bid, we chose them for three reasons: (1) Jason (their rep) was the most savvy about the Mass Save and Mass CEC Air Source rebates, which were quite significant (he handled all the rebate paperwork for us); (2) Unique was able to do the job in a week; and (3) Unique included all the electric work into the total bid (rewiring was required). The installation team (John and Quinn) was excellent. It took them a day and half, They were quiet, neat, professional, highly respectful of our homes and proud of their work. We had worried that they would have to remove wooden ductwork which had been recently painted, but they managed to snake the new hoses through the existing ductwork without disturbing anything. Unique had an electrical contractor on site who replaced the breakers on our electrical panel, installed a higher capacity wire from the panel to the AC system, and replaced the cutoff switch on the outside. We were quite pleased with Unique's work, and would definitely recommend them to others.

I've used this company for a few years, beginning with an issue I had where I needed some emergency assistance with an a/c system leaking water into the house. They fixed the issue and it cost far less than I thought it would. I've also used them for a couple heating repairs, annual furnace cleaning and a/c maintenance. I am about to hire them again since the a/c system is dying and it will need replacement since it's more than 20 years old. I would highly recommend Unique Indoor Comfort to anyone in need of a good HVAC/Heating company.

Worst experience ever with contractors - missed first appointment. Missed second appointment and claimed it was set up for afternoon.

Price was fair.  The experience was great.

They were good. I just felt like they were pushing one thing entirely too much. There was no charge for an estimate. They were very punctual. They were very professional. They were our second choice, actually. They were honest and gave us their reasons.

We only just stated using them this past year. We bought an annual service plan. They know their stuff and they have a lot of knowledge and a lot of experience. The workers were very nice and professional.

Steve and his team are real pros. Jason came out and talked us through the various install options, with a lot more thought and consultation than the other two contractors we talked to. In the end, the quote was higher, but we felt we were getting a better product, backed by a better company. Steve (the owner), Travis and Mike (installers) were pros too. Keeping us up to date, starting/completing the work on time, etc. The crew were super clean throughout the project. They even hooked up everything and reprogrammed my ecobee3 smart connected thermostats. Jason spent an hour on the phone with me about the unit and i know any of them would stop by if we needed more help. We were worried about what we heard about the noise factor with high velocity units and these guys take great care to design the lengths and add sound-dampening material to the last 3 feet of the vents. The whole system is super impressive. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.

I called Unique Indoor Comfort to take a look at it at on a Sunday afternoon. They sent Steve M out to take a look at it. He was very friendly and patiently listened to my concerns and answered my questions. He systematically checked various components and found some debris stuck in the pipe connected to the inducer motor. He removed the debris and that seemed to fix the problem and said that this would get me through the night, at the least. As a recommendation, he said it would be best if I replaced a part that is slowly falling apart. He would check with the manufacturer and call me the next day. The cost for the emergency call and check up was $150. Pretty reasonable to me. The next day, Steve M called me and said my furnace only had a 5 year parts warranty, so I would be on the hook for paying for the part. He advised me not to spend the $850 for the part right now, but instead do a complete maintenance and cleanup for $168. I took Steve M's advice. The next day, Steve C (another Steve at the same company) came out to do a complete clean up and check up on my furnace. He found bits of PVC pipe burnt up in the heat exchanger and removed them. Steve C seemed to do a very thorough job. He also took the time to answer my questions I will be using Unique Indoor Comfort in the future to do maintenance check ups. I had used another company a few years prior, but they didn't seem nearly as thorough.

I would say highly professional, very responsive and excellent knowledge of the heating systems.

I called around 8 a.m. Monday, and the person who answered the phone (Steve? I'll call him Steve.) said Mike could come out about 10 a.m.(!) I wanted to be sure I'd be home if Mike showed up early, so Steve offered to call when Mike headed out to my house. Steve called at 9:45 saying Mike would be there in 15 minutes, and he was. Off to a great start! Mike was very communicative and polite, and he dealt well with my dog. He explained things well. He couldn't find any specific part that was definitely leaking, but he identified a rubber piece that may well have not have been seated correctly. He also made an extra effort to tighten things really well as he put things back together. He encouraged me to have the gas company come out again just to be extra sure, for safety. (I've decided not to, because I no longer smell gas at all.) Mike said he thought the noisy motor could last the winter, and he turned the blower down to the minimum speed. When he heard that I'm thinking of replacing the furnace soon, he talked to me about some of the benefits of the newer furnaces and mentioned that their salesperson could come out for free and discuss options and costs with me. He did this in a very non-pushy manner, which I appreciated. There is a $95 diagnostic fee, which covers the first half hour (if I remember correctly). I was also charged for an additional 15 minutes, which was definitely rounding down. The total was $143. I realized afterwards that I had forgotten to use the Angie's List coupon, which I had discussed with Steve in my initial call. I called Steve today, and he offered to void the check and let me send another one for $30 less. Steve was extremely pleasant and easy to talk to throughout.

I highly recommend Unique Indoor Comfort. My wife and I purchased a 1911 home 2 years ago. Closet space in these old homes is basically nonexistent, so I thought that central air conditioning was out of the question. I heard about high velocity air conditioners and contacted Unique Indoor Comfort. Jason C. was very knowledgeable and patient as I asked all of our questions. We decided to go with a two zone Unico system. Steve, Jason and crew exceeded our expectations. They were prompt, courteous and did what was necessary to meet the time estimate for the installation. They also cleaned up before leaving each day, leaving the house in the same condition as when they arrived. The system was installed around the 4th of July and the heat wave we experienced allowed the system to be fully stress tested, which it passed with flying colors.

The rep explained all of my options in terms that I could understand, along with their advantages and disadvantages. He was up-front with the pricing and when I indicated that one cooling option was outside of my budget, he focused on the less expensive option. There was no pressure to upsell at all. Even though I ultimately chose to go with a lower bidder, Unique was a top contender. The rep was professional and took the time to thoroughly answer all of my questions.
