experience with Merrow's Inc.: The following is my experience with having my Snowlblower repaired by Merrow's, inc.:I have a used Ariens Snowblower, about 10-12 years old. The right axel and tire were in bad shape, to the point where I wouldn't be able to use it. So, my problem isn't with how they fixed it, it's how they do business. As anyone who lives in the Amesbury/Newburyport area might know, Merrow's Inc. is the only game in town when it comes to having a lawnmower or snowblower serviced. There simply isn't anywhere else to go, let alone a place that will pick it up and bring it back. So they picked up my snowblower on nov. 2. I told the driver 'Please call me when you/they know what's wrong with it-I really don't wanna spend anymore than $200-250. '. I thought I was being clear with the driver, and he seemed to understand, and was a nice guy. A month goes by-no word at all from them. I stop in to see what's going on. I speak to the owner, he tells me they haven't even looked at it yet. Fair enough. We talk and I make sure to tell him-'if it's gonna be more than $200-250, i can't afford it'. Another month goes by. Still no word. I stop in again, speak to the owner again. He tells me they've been waiting on parts, and I should have it within a week. I tell him again (you see a trend here?) please don't fix if it's more than $250. My point on this being if it's gonna be more than say, $300, than for $400 I can buy a brand new snowblower. So a few days later they return the snowblower. Looks fantastic. The next day we get the bill in the mail. The bill was for $575. I was a bit on the speechless side. I go in to talk to the owner, basically making the point of 'why couldn't you have contacted me once within the whole 2 months to let me know what was going on? If I hadn't been in touch, than maybe I could undertsand.....' Anyway a week or so later it snowed and I was able to use it. So far, it worked great. The whole point of this being that times are really tough right now. Things aren't especially great financially for me & my family at this point. They should've called and said 'It's gonna be a big job, it's gonna cost alot-do you want us to fix it?' So now we're stuck with this huge bill. And they had it for 2 months with not so much as a phone call. So think twice before calling them-And get your wallet out.
