They have fair prices and do quality work. On one occasion, they completed a job repairing an underground plumbing line. The bill actually ended up being much less than they originally quoted. Once they dug up the pipe, they found that the problem was less complex than originally thought. Instead of charging the agreed upon price for the repairs, they only billed us for the actual work completed.

Very well. Both men appeared to be pros in their work performance. They seemed to have a great work relations. Very respectful to me as well. It was painful to pay the $250 fee to the city inspection though.

Great job. David came out, cut the water, put in a new section of pipe, and we were good to go.

They gave me a price range of three hundred to five hundred dollars on the phone. It ended up costing over three hundred dollars extra. They did a bad job of the installation and had to come back to re-do it. I still have air in my lines and they told me it could be a leak under my house. It makes no sense at all.
Response from Dial One Richie's Plumbing
"We did give a rough price over the phone to replace a owner furnished water heater and cooktop. We were to pickup a owner furnished water heater from Home Depot for this customer.Home Depot couldn't find the heater and it took a hour for them to locate it.When we got to the house it was more than just a simple swap out of the water heater and cooktop. The heater was located in a small utility room with the washer and dryer. The gas for the heater, dryer and cooktop was running around the wall catching each unit. The section for the cooktop was going through the wall with a flex line. The gas line had to be reconfigured and a section replaced. We removed the old cooktop. When we tried to install the new cooktop the opening was to small and the granite needed to be cut so we reinstalled the old one.The heater had to be installed in a pan with a drain line going to the outside of the house. To make that happen we had to build a small platform to raise the heater. The job was now up to code and safe.We charged the customer for the time and material which was for that job. After about a week later he called complaining about his bill and that the dryer door was hitting the gas line. The tech said there was no way that could be happening. We sent him out to check it.The customer failed to say that the dryer had been replaced and the door now swings out instead of opening down.We didn't confront him about it and reconfigured the gas line at no charge."

They corrected the connection issue.  They were on time, professional, and I would recommend them to others.  We did have a little issue witht the estimate, I thought I was being charged by the hour and not by the job, but I was satisfied with their service.

It went great.  Dial One sent a man named David.  He was extremely friendly and professional.  He came over right away--the same day I called.  He gave me a lot of tips.  I enjoyed chatting with him.  I even stood on the attic ladder to chat with him while he worked.  I felt kind of bad because the attic was so incredibly hot.  However, David worked very hard, despite the intense heat.  He gave me a lot of tips on maintenance and care as he worked.  He was very knowledgeable and explained the operation of plumbing fixtures.  David actually accessed the attic three different times to ensure that everything possible was done to keep the pilot light from blowing out again.  He also let me know that plumbing fixtures are not made as sturdy as they used to be, and that eventually most devices need to be replaced or repaired at some time.  I truly appreciated the knowledge he shared with me.

The original bathtub drain was a mess.  David stuck with the project and showed me what a poor job the contractor did when installing the tub.  David explained what was wrong, and provided recommendations.  Of course the cost of these repairs was more than I felt I could afford, but what does one do when a home wasn't built properly and needs repair?  I decided to accept David's recommendations, and I'm glad that I did.  He had to cut out a part of the sheet rock to access the piping underneath the tub.  He even had to drive all the way back to the warehouse to get the parts he needed.  He showed me the finished installation, and it was perfect.  He worked until he got it the way he wanted.  I must say David is a perfectionist.

The "B" rating for the price is not a complaint...it's a notice.  Their prices are a little bit higher than some others, but well worth it.

I was very favorably impressed, and here's why:
Communication: the arrival time was, of course, approximate, since service technicians never know what they are going to encounter with earlier appointments.  Even so, when Roland thought he might be late he called - not 10 minutes before, but an hour and a half before the estimated time.  He called again to give a head's up when he was on his way.  I didn't sit around wondering when and if he was going to show.
Professionalism: He was courteous, genial, and got right to work.
Knowledge: He immediately found the problem - a problem that someone from another company had missed - and fixed it in short order.
On another project at that same visit involving plumbing for a new shower, I needed an estimate and some advice; and I found that, when I asked a question, I got an answer.  The guy knew what he was talking about.
I'll definitely call Dial One Richie's Plumbing to complete the shower project, and I'll definitely recommend them to others.

We ultimately decided not to install the tankless water heater, so we didn't hire Dial One or anyone, but based on their professionalism, I would hire them in the future.

I have used the company for numerous other jobs ( smaller) so did not expect any problems. The scope of the job changed somewhat but Ritchie remained fair with pricing. My foundation needed to be broken to re-route drains because the lay-out was completely changed. He is not the cheapest plumber around but it is a good value for the service. Matt and Ritchie did all of the work. Ritchie was not satisfied with one aspect of the new tub so he would not install it. Other plumbers may have. I called him back in August and he responded promptly but the problem was not with the plumbing. There was no mark up for fixtures, etc that you see with other plumbers. The tub, toilet, etc were provided at the same price that you see on the internet. Other plumbers have marked those up for profit. I will continue to use them.

After Katrina I kept hearing the whooshing noise, so I called Dial One Richie's Plumbing thinking I had very little chance of getting him out here. He was right here! He found out that the pressure of the water coming back on after the hurricane had burst my pipes. He did a great job, and he really helped me out. The drains were broken in the section that I had to replace and I thought it was going to cost thousands of dollars but he did it for me on the cheap, and it worked. He used his own part to connect the icemaker because the one that came with it was cheap. I call him all the time.

Richie and his employees showed up when they said they would, they worked professionally, and they were actually a kick to have around. You can tell that they work well, and they work well together. I got at least 4 plumbing bids before going with Richie. He isn't the cheapest. I think his was the second highest bid, but he has been in the plumbing business for years, and his father before him. My parents used to call his dad before he retired. I was willing to pay a little more for peace of mind. During construction, I was hit by copper thieves who broke off some pipes at the slab. Richie handled the work of re-installing the pipes, and he was reasonable with the labor charge. Once the house was finished, it was discovered that there was a blockage of some sort in a hot water line under the slab. It is suspected that other workers may have crimped a line with a shovel (not the plumber's fault!). When he discovered it, Richie suggested running an alternate hot water line to that part of the house. They did it without charging me extra. After months of being in the house, a house guest was the first to use one of the showers. We found the water flow was becoming low. Richie sent someone out that day to take apart the fixture and flush some debris from the line that was causing the low flow. I assume the concrete pebbles in the line came from the copper theft and reinstallation work at the slab.
