Banking/Credit Unions
The branch manager announced that and quot;sheand quot; requires a seven (7) day notice to provide more than $5,000 in cash to a customer. Since this and quot;ruleand quot; was never explained to me in the past, I was confused and asked when this policy had changed because I was not made aware of it during previous and similar transactions. She did not answer my question. Instead, she stated; and quot;...withdrawling that much cash will wipe us out for the weekand quot;. Next she said and quot;...I will have to call my supervisor to give you this much cashand quot;. Again, I had three bank employees talking to each other and to me at the counter in front of other customers in voices that could be heard at the front door. In fact, one teller was working with another customer standing four feet from me when she jumped into the conversation. All of this occurred with no option to move the conversation to an office or private location where they could determine whether my transaction could be approved and in a secure setting.
I am all about following policies and would never want to be treated differently than anyone else with an account there. My concern at that point was that the Branch Manager had announced this very loudly and in front of the other customers. She was standing behind the seated teller or about 4-5 feet from me and talking aloud about my transaction where others could hear. I began to look around to see who was in the branch, to determine whether I knew anyone and wondering if I was going to have a problem in the parking lot if someone waited for me outside. No one in the lobby could escape hearing the credit union employees discuss the balance of cash in the branch and how my transaction might affect it. At some point, another customer entered the branch and was standing at the service counter behind me. Unfortunately, this customer was also able to hear your employees chatter about my personal financial business.
These credit union employees continued to talk about my transaction for about 5 minutes, which felt like an hour!
Throughout this entire experience, I am not being argumentative in any way. I attempted to ask questions but the Branch Manager felt it was appropriate to raise her voice and interrupt me repeatedly, causing this episode to become quite demeaning and embarrassing.
At this point, I gave up trying to ask questions because her voice continued to go higher and higher and other customers had come into the branch. I asked for the check back and said I would go elsewhere. As I neared the exit, Branch Manager yelled “…You have a great weekend”. I was clearly more than 12 feet from her and she did it in a very unprofessional way and in front
of the next customer. As I looked back in shock, she was smiling in a very insincere way. By obnoxiously wishing me a good weekend as I exited “her” branch, she made it very clear to me that customers are to be “dealt with” instead of providing the kind of service I see in their TV ads. At least that was my opinion after this experience.
I reached out to the main office of this credit union and received a call a few days later. The Regional Manager apologized for my and quot;experienceand quot;. She stated that there is no credit union and quot;ruleand quot; for providing a seven day notice to withdrawal cash. She agreed that the Branch Manager should have taken me aside in a secure location to discuss check-cashing policies and hold periods. Next, the Regional Manager stated that she knows the Branch Manager well and has witnessed her wishing customers a similar goodbye for the evening or weekend as they exited the branch. The Regional Manager stated that I might have just misunderstood the Branch Manager's way of saying and quot;goodbyeand quot;. She went on to say that the Branch Manager should have used her and quot;Mother fingerand quot; to shush the other teller who had jumped into my transaction while still working with another customer.
Once again, I am surprised and shocked by yet another strange experience with a Park Community Federal Credit Union employee. I'm guessing that if anyone else in a management level position in any other industry had described how his or her employee should have used their and quot;mother fingerand quot; to shush an employee...it might not be received as a professional response in ANY situation.
The Regional Manager steered our conversation to an end by explaining that she has discussed this situation with the Branch Manager and had coached her on how to better handle the situation (i.e. Mother finger) in the future. She also repeated that I might have just misunderstood the Branch Managers' intention of wishing me well as I exited her branch.
What was lacking was an apology from this Branch Manager or any promise of extra training. During this episode in the branch, it appeared to me that this was a common practice since none of the credit union employees thought to secure the privacy of my transaction in that lobby. It was my assumption that the Regional Manager worked with this Branch Manager often (i.e. friend) and she did not take my concerns seriously.
These Park Community Federal Credit Union employees compromised my safety and may have compromised the Privacy policies of their firm. They also compromised their own security and safety by discussing how much cash was on hand in the branch that day. I am at a loss to explain this experience in any other way.

Dealing with Park Community was a breeze and so easy on the Internet. I would encourage anyone who has never had dealings with a credit union to try Park Community. It is a local bank and I was treated with much respect and caring.
PLUS I saved a ton of money on interest. I made only one trip to their location to deposit a $30 check to pay for the license and
title fee. The whole process took less than a week.

Overall the experience was good. The one problem was that we tried to open the account online and one of the personnel responded that we would have to open it in an office because they had found evidence of and quot;fraudand quot; in our credit report. We have a very good credit report with no black marks. Our number is in the the high 700's and ther are no negatives on it. When we went in to the office to open the account the representative there pulled the same report and could not find any fraud and when she tried to contact the person who made the comment she was unable to get a reply. The rep who helped us open the account was very friendly and helpful. I would reccomend bypassing the online process and going directly to an office to open an account.
