FREE Written Estimates! No Money Down Contractor! Celebrating 16 years in business!
A New Rooftime began in 1996, when Ricky and Sandy Feltner started a small family business that they operated out of their home.
By 1999, Ricky's company (Preferred Roofing), had grown large enough to include his son, daughter, son-in-law, along with some terrific work crews. Together the company earned a ranking in R.S.I. magazine's Top 100 Contractors in America (Oct 1998)
Ricky passed away at the end of 1999, and the company struggled to carry on without his dynamic leadership.
Today Ricky's legacy has been preserved by no less than five roofing contractors that were once part of his vision, all successfully operating their own companies using the same principles and ideals he established over 15 years ago!
At Rooftime, Sandy's daughter Missy still answers the phone (even at nights and on the weekends) and Ricky's grandson Justin is now an Owens Corning certified Roofing and Insulation Inspector!
A New Rooftime is a true family owned and operated business with deep community roots; over fifteen year's business experience, and is now into their third generation of serving Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
A New Rooftime has been certified by Owens Corning as a "TOP OF THE HOUSE" professional. The company attends annual training certifications to keep current with VENTILATION, INSULATION, RADIATION and how they affect roofing shingles and property values.
A New Rooftime exclusively sells and installs the Owens Corning line of roofing and insulation products.
In addition to being experts at roof repairs, new roof installations and attic insulation, their other services include professional SKYLIGHT repair and installation using the VELUX brand, as well as chimney repairs and Box gutter repairs.
Estimates are free and include an attic inspection & color digital pictures of what the estimators find.
A New Rooftime utilizes all the best of today's technology such as thermal imaging cameras to pinpoint hidden leaks and decay, and satellite measurement software to offer 'to the inch measurements" for "to the penny pricing'.

They were supposed to come out at 10 this coming Saturday (tomorrow) but were able to come out yesterday instead. They said we could take short cuts & recommended that we have it done completely when we have the roof completely replaced. I can understand them trying to help get us through but it was a little strange hear. I was also told we’d get two estimates, but didn’t receive anything by the end of the day. My boyfriend called again early this morning saying we hadn't gotten the estimates yet. He was told they would be sent right away but we still haven't gotten anything as of this evening.

came when they said they would. Set the appointment to do the work. I called when I knew heavy rain was forecast and asked if they could come a day early and was very pleased that they did.
Description of Work: Water was leaking through the garage roof. The person from Rooftime determined that it was the flashing around the chimney. it was quickly repaired and no longer leaks.

A New Rooftime was very accomodating once we had the service scheduled. This took awhile because I did not receive any phone calls and kept forgetting to email with possible dates. When I had it scheduled, we were in the process of getting a new home inspected. I called them to request moving to the new house instead and they had no problem doing that and were able to come the same day as the home inspector. Unfortunately, once I was looking at the house in more detail, we realized there was no attic. When the contractor showed I explained this and he agreed the work could not be performed. He said I can contact A New Rooftime to explain this and they would likely refund my money. Unfortunately, I have not had an opportunity to do this yet. I found the scheduling a little difficult until I found a phone number. Once I was able to talk with them, everything went smoothly. And the contractor was professional and courteous despite not being able to perform the work. Do: Contact them early and by phone. Being flexible with dates helps get a good appointment. Don't: Worry if you need to reschedule, they are very accommodating.

A New Rooftime was very helpful and responsive from our very first contact. They came for an initial visit and then scheduled the work. It went quickly and professionally.
Description of Work: We hired A New Rooftime to put additional insulation in the attic of our older home. This attic area has low head clearance and other contractors quite frankly were not interested in the job. They installed blown-in insulation using our previous energy audit as a guide.

I purchased a BIG Deal for $100 for a chimney repair/inspection valued at $350. Rooftime came out and gave me complete estimate (onsite ballpark figure of $750) to follow with written estimate. Was told they do ?free? estimates and purchasing the deal really didn?t do anything. Estimate was $800. There were some discrepancies between what the officer personnel communicated to me via email for questions I had and what I was told by Dale who provided estimate. When I asked what I would have gotten for $350 value, I was told that?s the value that Angie?s List assigns and Rooftime had nothing to do with that (per email with Rooftime office). I assumed I would get $350 worth of work for the $100 I paid since the coupon did read repair/inspection. I also was pretty sure Dale had told me they would clean off the moss from the front of the chimney and seal it (in fact I have an email that said there is no charge to brush it off but to seal would cost $210 (masonry saver) which was already included in the estimate. However, when the person came out to do repair, he said that was not part of the work order, and that they only clean/seal the part of the chimney facing the shingles. So overall it was a very confusing process. I sort of feel like Angie?s List was somewhat at fault as the value of $350 was placed on the ?Big Deal? and I really didn?t end up with any kind of additional savings as a result of purchasing this deal. If I had not purchased it, this work still would have cost me $800. The reason I gave a "C" on punctuality and responsiveness is that the woman in the office had told me they would call the following week to schedule an appointment. And she didn't call until the week after that. Then she told me they would be there the following day before noon. When no one showed up, I left about 12:30 as I didn't receive a call or anthing letting me know they were running behind, and I had things to do. Then my daughter called me about 1:30 saying they were there and I would have to pay them when the work was done, so I had to come back home. The reason I gave a "C" on professionalism is that when the person showed up to do the work, a woman waited in his car in my driveway the entire time and I thought that was rather strange and sort of uncomfortable. As I had mentioned previously, I feel like Angie's list was mostly at fault for this advertising $350 worth of work for the $100, and as I mentioned before, A New Rootime said they would have come out at no charge to do what they initially did.

Response from A New Rooftime
We are sorry for any confusion the member had over the deal for the chimney. Although the wording on this deal is very clear as to what is included and what is part of the package. As the member noted herself, the big deal was scheduled and executed promptly and completely. While conducting the inspection, our estimator noted several other concerns, including a separate chimney, damaged roofing, and plumbing stack issues. We offered a verbal ball park quotation as to what it would take to correct these issues, along with additional work to the main chimney that was not covered in the big deal. The deal was for one chimney, and she herself notes that their home has two chimney units. The deal included no roof work of any type, and the member has failed to note that we pointed out several wind damaged shingle tabs, and also repaired these areas for her. Once the Big Deal had been properly fulfilled, the member is not under any obligation to contract for any other work from Rooftime. She called and asked the quote be formalized and emailed over, which we were happy to do. She did email back and forth with the office with questions about the additional work needed and we tried our best to be clear and make sure she understood the work. She signed the bid and returned it and we scheduled out a repair crew who has a copy of the contract to serve as his work order. Our crew executes the contract exactly for a homeowner. We are sorry she is disappointed, and puzzled as to why she would go on request to work with us further after the Big Deal had been completed, if she felt it was not of value after the first scheduled appointment...

Once we decided on a material and color, which took some back and forth with the company to get the sample boards out, through a combination of delays on both my part and their part, everything was done on time and on budget. No major surprises, though there was some repair needed to the plywood under the roof which is not unusual with a very old roof. The team was professional and cleaned up all of the debris and nails thoroughly. Good experience and the roof has been problem free.

Great job from start to finish! Would and will definitely recommend Rooftime to anyone looking for any type of roof, chimney repair work or other services that they do.
Description of Work: We were very pleased with the all aspects of the service received from Dale and his co-workers at Rooftime. Dale was very honest and professional in his appraisal of the work that was needed to be done and even gave us two separate estimates if we did not want to do all the work at the same time, Even though the original work date had to be rescheduled because of rain, they came on the rescheduled date and the work was completed in a very timely and professional manner. On the original estimate of the repair work to the chimney Dale discussed that it would be beneficial if a large, no longer used, antenna was removed from the chimney so as not to continue to wear on the structure. After the men left from completing the work, I noticed that the antenna had not been removed, so I called the next day to the office and explained what I found and asked if they could come back to remove the antenna. They actually came the same afternoon and removed it!

We took advantage of the 749 for 800 sq ft of insulation. The contractor came out and conducted a detailed survey of what was required and provided a very competitive estimate for the amount of insulation required. They provided a very detailed walkthrough of what was necessary to meet DoE standards in addition to the Big Deal. In addition, they made estimates to fix various components in the attic that required attention. They also supported answering several of my questions determining the return on investment of the different DoE rating levels. The insulation arrive just before 7 AM on the day of insulation. This was a large truck and a forklift delivering pallets of materials (quite loud for this early in the morning). Afterwards, the team leader arrived around an hour after they said they would, his team another 45 minutes after that. Overall they took around 4.5 hours to completely insulate the attic and to make the attic repairs. We also purchased a chimney inspection -- which was only an exterior chimney inspection not necessarily dealing with the interior issues (we needed the flue and the internal functions of the chimney evaluated for repair). They did not have the appropriate equipment for this and we re-scheduled for a later date. When they returned, they explained that the chimney was in good shape but that they could not help with the broken flue. The recommend a creosote log before we started using the chimney. Additionally they commented that we should not build large fires due to limitations of some of the materials. Overall, they were very professional and polite. My only regret is that we did not have an opportunity to evaluate the repairs they made in the attic before blowing in all of the insulation. The attic is no longer accessible due to the shear volume of insulation. I cannot verify they performed the work as agreed to and documented. Other Angie's List members have taken photos of work (before and after) and/or asked that we occasionally evaluate the work or explain what they've fixed, especially when it will be difficult to assess at after the services are complete.

The estimator showed up early, was very professional and offered us a fairly priced solution for our problem (new roof needed). He also addressed the venting issues in our older home. I appreciated his thoroughness. I didn't use them only because I chose a different ventilation system solution along with an insulation install. I would choose them in a heartbeat though if I just wanted a new roof- very legit, fairly priced awesome provider. UPDATE MARCH 2013: We actually ended up using A New Rooftime! See our other review from 3/14/2013. Thanks for an excellent experience!!

When the representative initially arrived he stated that he was going to do the inspection, without mentioning the attic tent. When I mentioned the attic tent he seemed a bit surprised. Nonetheless, he retrieved one and installed it after his inspection and written recommendation. No harm/no foul. He knowledgeable, took care in carrying the ladder up to the 3rd floor, and was professional yet nice the whole time. We'll be using "A New Rooftime" for our roofing needs.

The representative was courteous and was very thorough in his inspection. We have had our roof replaced within the last five years, and he was complimentary of the work done and the company that did the work. He pointed out one area around a vent that was slightly open to the outside and recommended it be fixed. He recommended we contact the roofing company that we had used to have it corrected, and said he was sure they would come back and do it for free--that he was familiar with the company and knew that they were reputable and would want to fix it. Or, he said, we could wait until his company came back to do the insulation work and they would close it up at no charge. He took photographs of the attic interior, showed them to me, and explained why he was making his recommendations. He did recommend we add additional insulation, since what we have now is what was installed when we built the house in 1991 and standards have changed since then in what is recommended. But he also made a point of saying that our builder had complied with the standards in place in 1991. I was impressed that he pointed out good things about the construction as well as what could be improved -- not trying to create work for his company. When I explained that we were going to have the bathroom remodeled in a few months, he recommended that we wait until after that work was completed to add the insulation to avoid them having to come back later. He gave me a written estimate and suggested we call him to schedule the insulation work after the remodeling was complete. I was very impressed with his honesty, and I did not feel pressured to "buy now" at all.
Description of Work: Rooftime's representative did an attic inspection to determine the adequacy of our insulation. He made recommendations on work to be done to improve the insulation and recommended when it should be done.

I purchased the Big Deal, which was 9" of insulation in attic#1. Then I purchased 3" additional for attic#1 and 12" for attic#2. I emailed the day of installation to get the time of arrival. I may have given my work number, but was at home. I did receive a reply. The 2 gentlemen arrived but the insulation material had not been delivered. A call was made to the office to determine what time the insulation would arrive. It was scheduled to be delivered later in the day. So the 2 fellows made a trip to 1 of the local Big Box hardware stores and purchased insulation. They started the job. I was told markers are placed in the attic so they can ensure the correct depth of material is added. When the job was completed, they cleaned up & left. I did not complain or question anything. They did not offer to allow me to inspect. Eventually I got a ladder, climbed up and inspected the work. It does appear to be the correct depth of material. Should you get insulation, count the number of bales used and be sure they use all or most. With the late delivery & purchase I'm not sure that all that I purchased was used. And ask to inspect before they leave, so there are no questions afterward.

Dale arrived promptly at 11:30 am. He was extremely pleasant! I explained that I was currently renting this property and was considering putting in an offer to purchase. I wanted to use the fireplace and needed to have it inspected. Dale got right to work! He looked it over and asked me to join him on the floor so he could show and explain what he needed me to see! I have learned a lot about fireplaces today! He then took me outside to show me the chimneys around my street. He showed me the good ones and the not so good ones! Mine is somewhere in the middle! I was told what was needed and how much it would cost to fix it! He told me I could use the fireplace as long as I burned the store bought logs. Nothing big! Definitely no wrapping paper, because they produce a very large hot fire! We talked about the roof after that and was told I would need a new one in a few years. Because of the pitch of my roof, I wouldn't have to worry about snow sitting there for a long time causing damage! I got another estimate for the roof! From there off to the attic where I was informed that I had excellent insulation and really good construction! We went to the basement to look at insulation on the ceiling and was told how to install the fiberglass quickly and easily! All in all I was told my house had good bones and only needed a few major items and lots of cosmetic ones! I fell in love with this house when I first saw it and Dale just confirmed my love was well grounded! When the work needs to be done he will definitely get the job! Oh I forgot, he gave me a great price on the older skylight in the upstairs bedroom! I checked all of his estimates online and he beat the competition!

My first impressions with Rooftime were very positive. Dale is pleasure to meet and is very knowledgable about this industry. The installer I was assigned with, Willy, is also very knowledgable and explained things pretty well. I signed a contract on 8/30/12 and gave them $9450 (50%) on 8/31/12. I was told work would begin in 2-3 weeks after the metal arrived. 3 weeks after the contract was signed I discovered that Rooftime had not even ordered my metal yet. They also made many promises for a start date but were unable to keep them. They said this was all due to weather. This was during one of the driest summers on record in the cincinnati area. The truth was later discovered that they mismanaged my job by failing to order the metal and also fired the crew who was to install my roof just one week before they were finally (after several delays) going to be onsite. The install crew that finally did arrive was a good crew of guys. They appeared to know what they were doing and worked well together. They showed up time and did good work. When the job was finished Dale demanded an extra $400 from me that was not in our contract. The job was finished on a friday and by the following tuesday Dale advised the supplier to "Secure lien interest" in my property. He had already recieved $9450 and was promised the other 50% 5-10 days after completion. The delay in payment was due to this job being financed by a construction loan. In the end I had to meet Dale and his secretary at a bank to get a notarized mechanic's waiver signed before closing the deal. I will never use them again! I have a new metal roof that should last at least 50 years so I shouldn't need them anyways!!!!
Description of Work: Rooftime was contracted to install a standing seam metal roof (approx 28 squares) onto a 15 year old cape cod style home. They were also to replace all the gutters and repair the siding. The total cost was quoted and contracted for $18,900. Included in the contract were to be new gutters and they would repair and replace so siding that was damaged.

Response from A New Rooftime
Our response is pretty simple. Our company works extremely hard at doing the right thing for the people whom entrust their homes to us. We will let the sheer volume of positive Angie’s List members speak as to our company philosophy concerning taking care of people. Every year since 2007, we have been honored to receive the Super Service Award, based in part on how well we take care of the people who trust their homes to us. This particular customer was difficult from the start. As a company, we understand and accept the fact that some people are going to be more pleasant and more fulfilling to work for than others. On the rare occasion that we do encounter a homeowner that is just unreasonable despite everything we do, we just try to buckle down and accomplish the project with the same skill and dedication that we have for anyone else that hires our company. We instruct our crews to work carefully and to go out of their way to satisfy a homeowner, which from his comments, it appears we accomplished. Once we realized just how difficult this customer was going to continue to be to work with: we offered to cancel his project through us with a full 100% refund of his special order material deposit. His response was to assure us, that he knew he had, quote,” an abrasive personality and my wife constantly tells me to relax and not be so confrontational with others,” so we decided to be positive and move forward. Rooftime prides itself on being sensitive and responsive to our customers. If there is any other course our company could have taken, we simply do not see it. This customer was simply beyond our means to satisfy. Despite repeated phone conversations, emails, and in person consultations, he insisted on time frames that were not possible due to the fact that his roof system was designed via satellite, manufactured custom to his homes specifications, shipped in from Pennsylvania and then installed. The total time frame was from 8-32012 when the deposit check was issued until 10-8-2012. There were 9 rain days and 6 Sundays in that span (more than 2 weeks). So his custom roof was measured, bid, designed, custom roll formed, shipped, and installed in a less than six week period! Yet one of the issues he brings up is the time frame. At one point he asked if our roofers owned rain coats and that his roof was only one story high, so even if they fell how could they be hurt… I will go ahead and point out that on one of the aforementioned rain days, a man who worked for another Cincinnati roofer, fell off a wet roof and died en-route to the hospital. Just for the record, it has not been the driest year on record, that occurred in 2010. 2011 was the wettest year ever recorded and September of 2012, was so wet and nasty that for the first time ever, the LABOR DAY huge fireworks display down on the river was almost cancelled due to Hurricane Isaac (http://cincinnati.com/blogs/tv/2012/08/29/rain-wont-stop-cincy-bellwebn-fireworks/) We logged every email communication we had with this customer (27) and even finally had to stop the ladies in our office from dealing with him due to his loud, abusive, and profane conversations (which he referenced in emails afterwards, suggesting that we ‘grow-up” and learn to deal with his responses of that nature). He is correct in that he has a PROFESSIONALLY installed, beautiful metal roof and that unless a super storm comes along in the future, he will never have to replace the roof again, which based on our experience with him, is a blessing for both he and the roofing community in general.

Water leaked into our basement after a heavy rain. My husband thought the problem might be due to water getting in around one of the pipes on our roof. After reading reviews on Angie's List we chose A New Rooftime. A New Rooftime was prompt and courteous and provided us with photos of our roof. We had them install "No Leak Sleeves" on each of our pipes. The issues with the leak resolved and we feel more comfortable with our roof knowing that we now have the sleeves installed. We would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Assessment of roof to determine source of water leaking into basement after heavy rain. Sewer vent pipe determined to be the source. No Leak Sleeves installed.

Everything went fine. We ended up purchasing our own attic fans since the one that they were going to provide wasn?t going to be sufficient, but they were willing to work us and put the Deal toward the labor. We were happy with the plan. They were responsive and their scheduling was easy. They did a good job and it worked out fine.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for solar-powered attic fan installation.

They contacted us almost immediately upon purchase of the Big Deal and arranged quickly to do the job. Even after it became more complicated, it did not slow their scheduling. They even send an email link that added it to the calendar on the computer. The service crew seemed very competent and were personable.
Description of Work: We originally purchased the the Angie's LIst Big Deal for a chimney cap. However, we had been experiencing leaks into the basement and saw mold and rot in the boards below the chimney and fireplace in the basement. We asked them to inspect and to try to find the leaks. They looked it over and found rusted flashing, and damaged crown and bricks in the chimney. They said the cap was actually OK. We accepted their bid to repair the chimney, from which they subtracted the pre-paid cap replacement. We have not had any leaks since. They showed us photographs of the before and after work.

Amazingly, one person handled the whole job. He clearly knew what he was doing, and got it all done in a couple of hours. There was no mess afterwards, no inadvertent damage. Again, they scheduled the work immediately upon receipt of the purchase, they communicated very responsively by email, and they remembered us as previous customers. Knowing we liked their prior work, they sent one of the same crew. They clearly like to be responsive to regular clients. We will definitely go back to this company when we need more roof or attic-related work.
Description of Work: They installed a solar powered attic vent fan, exactly as advertised in the Big Deal. It involved selecting the optimum location, cutting and weather-sealing the hole in the roof, and installing the fan. The craftsman installing the system also walked the roof and checked for accumulated sticks and leaves that could cause flashing damage and leaks, and checked on the prior chimney work they did for us. He recommended that we schedule some seasonal maintenance to have them clean the roof periodically to extend the life of the shingles, flashing and weatherproofing.

After they started, the second day we had rain which was a Friday. They covered the roof & went home. We didn't expect to see them until Monday morning. Saturday morning around 8:00 AM they came to the door & asked if they could go ahead & complete the work. We were happy for them to do that to lessen the risk of water damage if it rained again before they could complete the work. They finished that day & cleaned up well. We were very satisfied with their work.
Description of Work: They removed 2 layers of roofing & replaced some bad wood substrate at a price of $50/ 4X8 sheet of 7/16 OSB. They installed 30# underlayment felt, installed ice guard, 2 each soil pipes with cap master lifetime sleeve, step flashing, chimney flashing, ridge cap for venting, a skylight deck mounted & painted by applying one coat of matching trim paint to all exposed metal. They cleaned up well when finished and protected plantings on ground from damage.
