Hardware & Home Improvement Stores, Rentals - Equipment
$50
Westlake Hardware is a quarter mile from my home and when ever possible I support small companies.
For months I would go to Westlake and pay the extra to encourage small business but yesterday was the last time I will ever buy anything at Westlake.
I rented  Verticutter yesterday morning. Price was $25 an hour with a 2 hour min. I had it back within an hour. It was full of gas and I believed it to be clean.
When I returned it I was told by Brandon, (hardware worker) that his General Manager  (John) would have to sign off on it. John came over and told me it would be $50.00 because there was some grass on the underside which I did not notice and they would have to clean it. I thought he was joking. He told me the price was so high because it would be an example to others that equipment had to be brought back clean.
All this transpired at the outside portion of the store. On the ground was a hose which I offered to use and clean it right there. John, once again this is the General Manager, told me no but they would be more than willing to load it back into my suv so I could take it home to clean it and bring it back.
After telling him this was not going to work, I brought up that the 1st verticutter they tried to rent me a bent bolt on one
of the blade so they got another one out. This one had half a tank of gas which Brandon seemed to take pride when he told me they had to charge the last user $5.00 to top off the tank.
I can understand a kid working at the store having this type of attitude. The shocking part to me is the General Manager was worse. Long and short I will drive the extra to go to Nuts an Bolts or Home Depot or Lowes before I ever step foot in this store again.

Westlake Ace Hardware are very personable in dealing with their clients needs especially in finding things and they have someone available to help you lead through it. They are a little bit pricey as compared to other big stores.
