My husband and I had to get our own place after moving back to Kansas and we were desperate to get out of my parents' place. We got lucky enough to find a place that we could move into immediately since it wasn't during the college town's normal rental period. We even got a special monthly rate due to this. The office manager was never available when we were trying to arrange our check in to document existing issues in the apartment. When we attempted to pay rent the office usually was closed even during "office hours". One morning in the first month there a handy man entered my apartment while I was in the shower and with no notice to check on why my first months water bill was so high. Within the first 3 months the screws holding the two panels of my oven door fell out and the front panel laid on my kitchen floor for over a week from the date I reported it to them. During the winter months the snow removal was poor to say the least. The driveway to get into the complex was usually so packed with snow that smaller cars couldn't get up the small slope into the parking lot. There was a no party clause in the lease but any report of parties to the management company were either never addressed or were never punished as they continued for the duration of the lease. When we attempted to renew our lease with the new office manager he informed us that our rent would be going up by over $300 per month, which we couldn't afford. During our last month the old property manager called 30 minutes before he'd promised a couple that they could see our apartment to inform us. When I said no, he said "well I need to show your apartment" so I countered with "and I need 24 hours notice as stated by law". He then hung up on me. During the last month there we were also given check out specifications, one of which stated that our apartment had to have the carpets professionally cleaned. We were supposed to notify them by the 15 of July and if we didn't they would schedule the cleaning themselves. We finished moving and cleaning on July 27th and had to have our keys, parking passes and forwarding address to them by noon the next day. My husband was going to swing by the apartment for one last check and to make sure that we didn't get anymore mail at 11 and then turn in the keys. When he got there there were already people moving in. When my husband dropped off the keys to the property manager he said he had no clue how they got the keys. I will never suggest that anyone rent from them nor will I ever rent from them again.
