I was going to have them install a new light fixture, but they asked if I wanted to save and keep the old one as it was unique and matched the architecture of the bathroom. I said yes, and they did it! The only glitch was that I was never sure if I saved anything from the coupon. It might have cost less without the coupon because it did not take long; the repair person was very nice but kept looking through my house and basement to see if there was other opportunity for their employment.  It took me awhile to realize he did not need to be doing that to repair just the light fixture. Maybe he was doing it just to make sure wiring was safe.

This was a big job and it went well.  Our lead technician, Todd, gave the quote and was the one to lead the actual work which isn't how it always works with contractors but it was very nice to have that continuity.
Most of the work was performed by two technicians but at some point I think they realized they wouldn't be done before we moved in and called in a bunch of back-up to do the work--I appreciated the commitment to getting the job done on time.
They also handled moving where the power came in to the house and all the communication with the power company--there was some delay in getting this done but I think it was more on the city than MVP.
I will say that there were several large holes left in the wall where MVP needed to access wires--they warned me of this beforehand but I was surprised how many there ended up being--not MVP's fault but something to consider if you're getting a re-wire.
Overall, I felt like we got an excellent value out of this work.

That wasn't a really good experience. I had to call them to schedule a date. I t took several weeks to have them come and look a the house. The guy came, made all the notes, said he'd take it back to the office to get it scheduled, and then months later I had to call them. They put me on hold and told me that they guy never took any notes back to them and they had to come out and look at it again. They were suppose to pull a permit which we were to pay for so that they could pull our electrical box and they never gave us the permit until later on. I would never recommend them. They just completed the work 3 or 4 weeks ago.

I purchased a big deal coupon for this company. It worked great.  They were very prompt and very professional.   They called within the week and then we made an appointment within the next week.

It didn't work out very well. We had them out to give us an estimate and they came out to do some work. When  they did  that, the technician advised us that something with out furnace was out of code and he recommended that we should replace it.  I've had it replaced within the past 2 years. So while we had him here doing some other work, we made an initial agreement for him to replace that because we didn't want to be in any violations with the state. Something was nagging at me so I called the state to ask about the code and they said it was fine and that it wasn't in any violation. It would have costed me $500 had I not made that call. It really bothered me and I wanted him to do some further work but actually I asked him to finish up what he was doing and I didn't have him come back. I ended up spending about $400 or $500 in addition to the big deal cost.

He inspected our 2 year old furnace and founds MANY issues with the install of it and our new A/C unit. He informed us of what was wrong took pictures and suggested before he go any further we contact our installers on the units and have them come out to fix the issues where they went wrong. He of course could do it all for a fee. That's where we start to go wrong. I was very comfortable with the tech and given that lack luster installs I would have preferred MVP to do it all for me so I could be confident it was done right. Well after a couple emails requesting he send me a breakdown of how much it would cost for cleanings and repairs (so I would know how much to get a loan for, yes it's that much damage) and only receiving promises that tonight when he gets to the office he will send it, yet it never makes it to my inbox, I really have no choice to go with someone that will give me a price. I will not say sure fix it to be surprised with a bill more expensive than just re-replacing the unit!

They responded immediately and that was great. We set up an appointment and the electrician came out and based on the big deal, he should have had enough time to do two small projects. It was $98.00 for $225.00.  The only one he got to was putting an outlet on the front porch.  He did a great job and was very efficient.  Then, I had a light fixture where one of the lights didn't work.  He removed the light and said it needed a new part. The ceramic thing.  He took down the light from the fixture (there were three lights) and removed the middle one. That left me with an ugly fixture.  He said I needed to get parts and that I should watch for another deal and then I could get that fixture repaired.  He probably spent 30 - 45 minutes when he got here to tell me about their other services and chatting.  I do not feel like I got my money's worth and now I have to have another electrician come out and fix my bathroom light and most likely, I will have to buy another fixture. |

MVP was very quick sending someone to do an estimate for my work. I wanted a new bathroom exhaust fan installed. I purchased everything I needed for the work except for the electric wire. I had the fan, the exhaust, switches and covers. The Big deal read
THIS OFFER INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF JOBS:
Mounting and wiring a new HDTV
Installing new lighting dimmers and switches
   Installing interior or exterior outlets
Installing a new ceiling fan or bathroom exhaust fan
   AND MORE!
The estimate I was given was for over $800. After deducting the $225, MVP wanted in excess of $600 additional for work that appears to be covered by the Big Deal. The deal is misleading at best.
Response from MVP Electric, Heating & Cooling
"The work the client needed done included: running power to a new switch location, running the wiring up to a new location for a bath fan, installing the client provided fan, and venting the fan. New exhaust fan venting codes require us to vent it out of the house requiring a roof penetration and running ductwork from the fan to the roof vent. All of that work for $225 is not a reasonable expectation. And while the ad does list several things the coupon can be used toward it is not meant to imply that it will cover the entire cost of that project- only that it can be used toward it. Every situation is different and they are bid individually."

Our electrician did a good job overall. He had to navigate around some challenges with respect to adding a new outlet. We made a decision to add an outside motion detector and ADD the preventive maintenance plan for our furnaces based on the price he quoted us and the 15 percent savings we would receive with the purchase of this maintenance plan. When we were ready to pay he said he "misquoted" us on the preventive maintenance service because we had more than one furnace. Instead of $550, it would cost us about $800. Very disappointing as we made our decisions on which services to purchase based on the original quote.

Had them do a variety of electrical outlets and switches.  Excellent communications and work performed.   Very happy with results.

12-5-2013.  Had them out again for some additional work.  Jeff returned and again did an outstanding job!  I couldn't be happier with the results and work I got for my money.   I'm a tough grader so to rate perfect is even more impressive.

He quoted me around $150.00 to install the fluorescent light fixture, but I would have to go purchase the light first.  He did very little regarding the ceiling fan except tell me it would need to be replaced because it was old and just made that noise because it was old.  By the time he figured out how he was going to install the 30 amp outlet, the price he quoted was ridiculous, $960.00.  Not impressed.
Response from MVP Electric, Heating & Cooling
"The client called us out to look at a noisy ceiling fan, a light that needed replacement, and an outlet for their travel trailer. The fan was very old and making noise. The labor involved to remove a ceiling fan, find the noise, repair it (usually re-winding the motor) and re-installing the fan normally far outweighs the cost of installing a new fan. We explained that and gave them a price for replacing the fan. The light needing replacement was a fluorescent light in the kitchen. Removing the old one and installing a new owner provided light was quoted at a little over $100. The outlet for the travel trailer was about 80' from the panel and required quite a bit of cable fishing and outdoor conduit running. It was quite labor intensive and ended up being a lot of money- about $815. It was more than the client expected to spend. I regret that we couldn't make them happy."

Woke up this morning to 82 degrees in the house. Condensing (outdoor) unit to AC system would not cycle on. I called 4 highly rated (Angie's List) providers and made arrangements with all - one guaranteed a service call the next morning and the other 3 said they would do their best to get someone out as soon as possible. With the inside temp rising 2 degrees every hour - the first company to show wins! I'm happy to report it was MVP - have you seen all their reviews! David, the service tech showed up (it was 92 degrees in the house) - diagnosed the problem within 30 seconds of taking off the access panel. Fixed and running within 10 minutes! David was very professional and courteous - the guy knows his stuff. Rhonda the dispatcher was very helpful in keeping me informed. I went ahead and signed up for the annual maintenance program to take advantage of the immediate discount on parts. The ad in Angie's List magazine saved me the service call fee ($64) so I basically got the annual maintenance free. Now I can sleep better knowing I'm not crossing my fingers the system will work - on one of the hottest or coldest days of the year. Another true Angie's List success story! Thank you MVP for the timely visit and exceptional service - glad to be your newest customer.

Young lady called to schedule appointment and I advised her that the air conditioner was not working correctly I thought it might be a lack of Freon that was causing the problem. Another person called to confirm the appointment and I again advised the person of the condition of the unit. When service man arrived he advised me that motor was going out on unit and that he could not perform the tune up. He also quoted a price of over $400 to repair the motor that I was not prepared to pay. I believe I should have been advised that tune up could not be performed if unit was not working properly I was charged for service and supplies that were not used. There were two opportunities to let me know that tune up could not be perform it unit was not working correctly but I was not told I could have schedule tune up after unit was repaired but instead I was charged for services not received.
Response from MVP Electric, Heating & Cooling
"It is not possible to do a tune up on a non-functional air conditioner or furnace. The client was told "We will come out and take a look at your air conditioner, let you know what is wrong with it and do your tune up." It was not clearly conveyed that the repair had to be done, and for that I apologize. We have changed our script to be more specific for occasions like this one."
