"The client bought our bath fan BigDeal but provided her own fan. We gave her a credit for the fan she bought. There was no fan currently in that location so we added $$ for running the electrical wiring. We also priced running the vent piping out of the house as required by code. That is where the add'l $$ came from. The client did not let us know there was an issue. This review is the first we heard of it. We are reaching out to the client to see if there is anything we can do to help. Since the client provided her own fan I can't guarantee its function. All we can do is install it as recommended by the manufacturer, which we did. Hopefully she gets back with us and will let us try to help make this difficult situation better."
Even if you don't know anything about electrical repairs, if someone is going to charge you $85.47 to climb on a step ladder to replace 2 burned out flurescent bulbs (maybe 4 minutes of work), you know that their pricing is unrealistic.
I called the office to complain about the pricing and was told by the person I spoke to that she would first have to speak with the technician, but would then call me back. Although I had that conversation at 10:00 am, I never received a return call.
AVOID THIS SERVICE PROVIDER!!
They offer a discount price to make house calls so that they can prey on unsuspecting customers who may not know what is involved in the requested repairs. If a customer rejects their outrageous quote, the company keeps your $49.00. On the other hand, if you are sufficiently ignorant of repair costs, they can charge you the "fixed price" contained in the technician's pricing book. It's not fraud, but it is certainly preying on the unsuspecting, and a practice that Angie's List should not tolerate.
Even if the Company offers to refund my $49 in exchange for removing this review, I will refuse. This scam needs to be exposed.
"We installed a furnace for this client over the winter and did some electrical work, and he signed up for our service plan during that process. When we did Spring service on the air conditioner we found the freon level was low, and the condensate pan under the a-coil was leaking and informed the client. He asked what might happen if not fixed or repaired. That is when he was told that is was dripping on the motor and the heat exchanger of his new furnace and could cause rust. If allowed to rust through- a hole in the heat exchanger can allow carbon monoxide into his home. Water on the fan motor can cause pre-mature failure. We also pointed out some asbestos covering some old ductwork to make sure he was aware of it. Neither was done as a scare tactic- both are simple facts that we pointed to the homeowner to make sure he was aware. If we had not pointed them out, he would have a very legitimate complaint about us not being thorough in our inspections. We do an extremely thorough inspection when we do our Spring and Fall precision tune ups- far more than the clean and check you get from most companies. Most clients appreciate the thorough job and information about their system. We catch a lot of problems before they turn into major issues Our tune up specialists are specially trained on the tune up process and focuses on that work. The technician that we sent to this client does not own a service valve wrench- which would be necessary to close his service valve. In fact if we had closed the service valve while we were there the unit would not work at all. The insinuation that we would deliberately break a unit is absurd and hurtful. We neither do business that way nor employ people that would. And yes if our tech happens to sell a replacement air conditioner while on the job they do get a small commission because it saves us the time and expense of sending out a salesperson."
"I checked the notes in our dispatch system and I see that we re-scheduled the client. It was April 24th and there was some weather that day. It actually rained 1.75" that day, so we moved her. It was about two weeks- we saw her on May 7th. We had a lot of re-scheduling that week due to the weather. She never mentioned she wasn't cooling properly or we would have squeezed her in somewhere. We went out and did the tune up on the 7th and she didn't mention it then either. I'm sorry we didn't make her happy, but we didn't know."
We will request her in the future to do other work.
He took a great deal of time with the cleaning of the air conditioner and I was pleased with that. I said I would use them again because the $49 was a good deal but I did not use them for the furnace as I found a better price and I am very pleased with the people who installed it. I did not need a new water heater.
I don't remember the exact date but it was the summer of 2013.
