Description of Work: I bought an energy analysis for $49 Because I was having some major heat issues and knew I needed venting or insulation adjustments. Long story short, they ended up sending 2 different guys out to do an estimate (by mistake). I didn't correct them as I wanted to compare the 2 estimates from the same company. They were over $1000 a part. When I got w one of the guys about the price difference, his answer was simply, " the other guy must not have known what he was doing". He apparently didn't need the sale Bc all I needed was a side by side comparison of the bid explaining the differences and why one would have been a better route, but never heard back. | |My thought was either the cheaper estimate didn't know what he was doing or the much more expensive estimate was trying to pull one over on me. Either way, they did not inspire much confidence in me to move forward w them. | |Put project on hold and am now ready to start the inconvenient bidding process over again. :(

Larry Langley answered my voicemail to the A+ Insulation company promptly and set up an appointment to come out and assess our problem. He crawled up in the attic and identified several problem areas and suggested a couple different ways to address them. After discussing those, we decided to have the wet insulation removed, vents cleaned out, exhaust fans vented, and weather stripping applied to the attic entrances. The crew showed up on the appointed day and introduced themselves, and went to work quickly and neatly, They worked 3 plus hours and packed it all up, removing the protective plastic and vacuuming as they left.
Description of Work: Old damp insulation was vacuumed out of the attic space. Trouble leaking area was sprayed to seal it off from further leaking. Attic vents were cleared of insulation (house is 20 years old and apparently those vents have been covered up the whole time). Installed baffles to prevent vents from getting clogged again, attic rulers to ensure level R-value in future, exhaust vents for restroom fans, weather stripping and insulation around attic entrance.Entire attic floor was then blown with enough insulation to ensure R-49 value.

A+ sent out a rep to inspect and write up an estimate for our work. The esitmator was knowledgeable and patient in responding to our questions and needs. were able to come out to dot the work the following week. Sent a 3 man crew. From the time they set foot in the door I knew we were in good hands. Will, the crew chief, introduced his team and went through the plan for the day. We took a brief tour of the house to again confirm the spaces to be treated. In the meantime Will got the team started on preparations in our garage. These guys do not waste time. They were very polite, professional, knowledgeable and CLEAN., They put plastic runners in our upstairs hall, covered anything that might be hit by insulation during the install. Along the way the crew chief checked in with me re things they might need to do along the way, ie: turn off the wine cellar cooling unit while insulating in there. I appreciated this. They left our place cleaner than it had been in the morning. I had planned to vac when they left for the day, knowing their would be a mess..not so. They cleaned everything up and before leaving the crew chief showed us all of the the completed work. All looks wonderful. Then one last time before leaving he went through his completion check list. Fabulous customer service...I highly recommend them for this kind of work.
Description of Work: We had attic insulation upgrade in our attic, garage, lower level exterior wall and wine cellar. Went from R16-R49 rating. Liked this vendor as they were not hard sell, but took the time to guide us in making our decision re this upgrade.

My house was built in 2007 and like many today, my builder liked to cut a few corners such as running water lines into the wall and ceiling of the garage area without proper insulating them. Every year, my water lines would freeze when temps dropped into the low teens for prolonged periods of time. I knew my luck was eventually going to run out, so after making a few attempts to fix the problem myself, I gave the guys at A+ Insulation a call. I sent the owner of the company, Mike O'Hara, an email requesting a free estimate. Within 24hours I had received a call back and had an appointment for an estimate setup the very next day. Mike sent his consultant Larry out to my house to meet with me over my lunch break which I appreciated since it was very convenient for me. Larry is extremely professional and very experienced in this field. He immediately identified my problem and recognized the issue as something he had seen before in similar style homes. Instead of trying to sell me on something I didn't want or need, he suggested we fix the problem by pumping blown insulation into the wall cavities around the exposed pipe. I was pretty desperate to get the pipes fixed and would have probably insulated the entire house if he told me that were the only way to fix the problem. A few days after the estimate, Billy and his crew came out to the house and pumped insulation into the walls and ceiling in my garage. They were very professional and took the time to explain exactly what they were going to do. After a few hours they were finished and had the garage cleaned up looking like it had before they started. Not much longer after they left, the temperatures outside began to drop into the single digits and I immediately began noticing how much warmer the room above the garage felt in comparison to years past. Unfortunately, by the next morning my water pipes had frozen once again. I can't begin to explain how extremely frustrated I was after discovering this didn't fix the problem. That night I shot Mike an email telling him that the problem still existed and asked him what we could do next. Instead of telling me there was nothing left they could do and giving up, Mike reassured me that they would fix the problem since that's what he had promised to do in the first place. He sent Larry out the very next day to evaluate the situation and to advise as how we should proceed. We both concluded that the only way to properly insulate the water pipes was to cut through the drywall and apply foam insulation directly onto the pipe itself. We figured that the water pipe itself must have been sitting directly onto the drywall where no insulation could get around and protect the pipe. Sure enough, after removing the drywall we discovered just that. The pipe was sitting right on top of the dry wall without any insulation around it. Like I mentioned in the beginning, the builder of my house was a shady character and didn't take the time to do the job properly. Someone designing a house shouldn't run water lines along a garage wall, or if they do, they should properly insulate the garage which mine was not. Though A+ Insulation had to come out twice to finish the job, they were fixing problems left behind by my builder that shouldn't have been occurring in the first place. They stood behind their work and came back out to see the job through to the very end. They even joked about coming out on a Saturday afternoon on their day off just to finish the job if necessary. Even as they were joking I knew they were serious. A few days after they came back out, the temps dropped down to the single digits and this time my pipes didn't freeze. A job well done. I don't typically write reviews and I usually do most of the handyman stuff around the house myself. The guys at A+ Insulation surpassed all my expectations and I felt they were more than deserving of a glowing review. I plan on hiring them back out to insulate a few more rooms in the house over the next year and I would recommend you do the same.

I have a unique situation with my needs, so I have just been very cautious about what we do in our home. I have many sensitivities and allergies, so it is really important I do the right thing, so I have held off and may have it done in the spring. My interaction with them has been really good and I have asked for a couple of samples. I have called them several times to bring me a sample so I could test it out on myself to make sure I am okay with the product they are using. They have not ever brought it to me, so I guess I would be a little disappointed, but another contact with them, they seemed to be very helpful. I asked them for the sample thrice and it has been 3 weeks and they haven?t got me the sample and that is not very good. They were very responsive when I contacted that initially. I think that they are really busy and may have put off getting the sample because I mentioned to them that this project is going to take a while. The last time I tried to contact them was in the first week of January.

Mike came out on Monday February 7th to provide an estimate to insulate the ceiling of my garage, as well as add additional insulation to the attic. Mike was very professional and explained the various options to me with no pressure to buy. I was happy with the choices as well as the price and went ahead and asked to get scheduled for the work. Mike was able to get me in 2 days later on February 9th. Billy and his crew showed up a few minutes late due to it having snowed, but they called ahead to inform me. Once on site the 3-man crew was very professional and took steps to ensure things were kept clean. They even washed the hardwood floors after finishing the work due to tracking in some water from the previous nights snow. I can already tell a big difference in the heating ability of my home. Rooms hold heat for a much longer period of time, and the furnace is kicking on much less!

From Larry giving me a written estimate within 8 hours to Billy and his crew who did the installation, the entire process was wonderful. Everyone was courteous, professional and very tidy! Larry came back out a few days later to install the attic fan cover, and while he was there, he and I took a look at my unfinished basement. He gave me an estimate to insulate that area as well and A+ will be coming back out to complete that work as soon as I can schedule it. This is a great company - knowledgeable owner and staff, and superb customer service!

My home has been exceptionally cold in winter and hot in summer since I moved in almost 3 years ago. I replaced windows and doors. (energy star), and it was better but still miserable with walls and closets that were the same temp as the outdoors. My a/c never got the temp down. I contacted Mike. Larry came out right away. He measured the space and explained what needed to be done with no hype or pressure. The product used is a trusted name brand that is warranted. The next week, Larry and crew arrived promptly, got to work immediately and finished in less than 3 hours. They are friendly and helpful. They left no mess or damage. I have watched the temp go down in the house with the a/c on for the first time. It is a hot, humid afternoon and I am cool and comfortable. It is like a vacation. I am even a little chilly with the a/c set at 78. My a/c is 30 years old and very inefficient. It will be heaven when I get my new high efficiency units this fall. I won't have to hurry to replace them now. I can do it when I want to. Even my dogs are happy. There is no panting. They are resting comfortably. I will have A+ return to insulate the area in the basement where the cold comes in over the foundation to make floors cold. I feel lucky that I found this company.

After several estimates, A+ was the only company to suggest insulating an uninsulated knee wall along with the attic. This really made an impression because the knee wall was just as exposed as the attic and no one else said anything about it. However, even without the additional work A+ was very competitive on price. There was a little mess outside the house with the blown insulation around an attic fan vent. They cleaned all inside messes. They put in more insulation than was estimated at no additional charge. Gave me all my estimates and receipts electronically. Gave me all the necessary information for tax credit. Overall, my heater cycles 1/3 what it did before.
Description of Work: Blown in insulate an attic on a 30 year old split level home to R44. Added soffit baffles to keep from blocking ventilation. Route two bathroom vents above the added insulation. Spray foam and batt insulation on uninsulated knee wall between two areas in the attic.

Mike was friendly and courteous, he did not try to sell us more than we needed. He was on time for the estimate and the job itself. The crew did a great job of cleaning up and I would recommend A+ to anyone.
Description of Work: I had Mike come out and inspect the insulation in my home. He found that the attic insulation had settled and my garage and closet walls had no insulation in them. After receiving the estimate, we had Mike back out to add more insulation to the attic. We also had them drill holes in the garage and closet and fill them with blown insulation.
