Leawood Tree Service

After receiving an expensive bid by a large, reputable contractor, I contacted Angie's List for Tree Service professionals. I called Leawood Tree Care, spoke directly to the owner who was already on another service call. He came to my house that day and confirmed my problem but then saw something that didn't add up--why one half of the tree was stressed and the other was not. He saw that a stone path had been installed over a major root and concluded that it had been damaged. He recommended steps and restorative chemicals that I could administer myself. He was equally informative with very practical suggestions about treating another tree that was of concern. He was most generous with his time and expertise. I wish that I had known about him in years past. I will certainly continue to seek out his services.

A couple of weeks later he came out, removed the limbs and totally cleaned up all of the debris. He left me a message that ,after he had removed the agreed upon branches, the tree looked out of balance. He therefore removed a few more branches to make it look better, but was not charging more than the agreed upon estimate.

What a terrific experience! The man really knows trees! I would recommend him to everyone. He was very responsive. He was on time, did a thorough job cleaning up. He had one helper with him.

In addition to performing the work as promised, Chuck went the extra mile and got the local light company to do a job ("make safe for removal") that they refused to do when I requested it as the homeowner. He also got to the job sooner than originally promised, and extra bonus.

Very well, tree looks good. We have had many storms and the supports have held. Also gave us instruction on how to fill the interior cavity(split trunk) to avoid further damage and save the tree. Chuck really knows what he is doing and does all the work himself. Very nice man.

I had an estimate for a number of trees to be trimmed,but it was very expensive so I just had him cut a few branched on a couple of trees. The tree that I can see where he cut the branches off looks like a cheese grader went through it. The cuts are not smooth.They are ragged and uneven. Another tree trimmer told me it appears the blade was dull on the power saw. Not only does it look bad where he cut branches, but he nicked multiple other branches and the main trunk. I used him because the Angie reports were good. But he really did a really bad job on my trees.

Mr. Bingham responded to my call, informed me that his schedule was full and he was running about six weeks out at least before he could get to it. We agreed that was still acceptable timeframe for me, and an appt. was set up for a bid when I could be there. He arrived a few days later -- exactly on time -- for the bid, and personally explained in detail what was needed and why, and he left me with the bid and signed agreement before leaving that day. He called almost exactly when he estimated he would be scheduling my job, giving me a "heads up" a day or so in advance on when he would be out to trim, He arrived with an assistant and did the trimming himself, as promised, plus a few extra limbs he thought needed cleaned up. They were careful of the falling limbs not damaging anything, and cleaned all the debris, "chipping" it and cleaning off the street, driveway, etc. He checked to be sure everything was satisfactory, Indeed it was. This was true customer service ,professionalism, and workmanship that was refreshing.. I have already recommended him to friends and neighbors.

Chuck gave us a bid earlier in the year and we said we were in no hurry so we discussed doing the work in October. I called him recently and asked for a speacific date because we were having guests. He fit us in the schedule and consulted us before, during and after the work to make sure we were satisfied. Chuck is very knowledgeable and thorough.

He's booked up until November, he says, due to success of ad with Angie's List. I appreciated the fact that he returned my call to let me he would not be able to do the work. He then proceeded to talk for 5 minutes. He was very friendly.

We have worked with Chuck Bingham. I have been very pleased with them and would recommend them highly. They have a very competitive price and excellent customer service. All of the trees are doing well!

Approximately 48 hours ago--early on a Saturday morning--I left a message with Chuck Bingham about what I needed done on a tree in my back yard. In the ensuing time, the following occurred: ---my call was returned (in less than an hour) and an immediate appointment was set up; ---Chuck arrived on time; ---he explained in detail what he would do to make the power line safe from tree damage for the next 5-6 years; ---he gave me his prosposal price (which took me back in time, it was so un-inflated); ---we set up a loose schedule for the job; ---when asked about another tree, a towering pine that sometimes concerned me during storms, he gave me the good news that if it ever required removal, which was not likely, it would be free due to its closeness to pole-to-pole power lines; ---noticing the mosquitoes that were flocking to me, he suggested a natural product that worked well for him; ---he arrived this morning with an assistant, did all the cutting himself, removed and ground up the limbs, and was on his way in less than an hour. My power line is out of the woods!

We had a very positive experience with Chuck. He knows and loves trees! He came back when our Sycamore was not responding to the initial treatment for aphids. He then diagnosed the additional anthracnose (fungus) infection and treated accordingly. The chemicals were free for the second treatment (usually $150.00). Our Sycamore is now thriving. He gave us advice about our Japanese Maple, and that tree is now healthy and thriving, as well.

Chuck was great to work with! We received an appointment and estimate within a few days of leaving a message. Our work was performed within 3 days of the estimate. We were impressed with his knowledge and realized that tree trimming should definitely be left to the professionals. Can't believe what a difference just a little bit of shaping and angling of the branches has made on the redbud tree. It looks great and will now grow in a proper direction to not hang on our house or the neighbor's! Our large oaks were not yet budding but we do plan on using Leawood tree in the future to trim and shape those trees too. Thanks!

Mr. Bingham is a consumate professional. His assessment of the tree and its problems led him to suggest pruning vs removal, thus saving me in the neighborhood of $600 or more. He was very clear in describing what was proposed to be done, so we both understood the scope of his work, and he felt it important to show me his proof of insurance, so that liability issues were covered. He further underscored his integrity by saying that further pruning should not be necessary for about six years, vs a company I'd dealt with previously in another city, which said they needed to return every two years. The work done was very satisfactory, with respect to time involved, results obtained (the tree looks much much better), and the cleanup afterward. Excellent value for the money in my opinion.

It all went very well and the price was certainly fair for all of the time and service I rec'd.

He came over and gave me some pointers. He was a very nice guy and excellent at communicating. He really saved me a bunch of money and yet did a wonderful job. He was excellent. The price included labor and parts. The price was very reasonable. He was a very nice gentleman and he took a lot of time to talk to us. We would highly recommend him.

While I did have to call and ask where I was on his list of to-do's, the job done and attention given could not have been any better. Each branch removed was looked at before being removed, and I was consulted before anything "large" was taken off. I have not had so much care given to my trees by any other company. He did a fabulous job and the results have been such an improvement in the amount of light that now comes into the house and on the garden.

Chuck came out quickly to estimate. He was full of great information and analysis of how to handle the tree. He also gave me valuable information about other trees and shrubs in the yard. When finished the tree looked wonderful and we had been prepared to take it down. Great guy

Did work quickly after we called and got estimate. Was very professional in every way. He gave us the lowest estimate of three we picked from Angie's List. I would easily recommend his services to anyone.

Explained to Chuck the sycamore tree needed trimming back from the electrical service line and from the house. Chuck acknowledged those areas needed work, and pointed out more trimming that could be done not only to promote a healthy tree but also to correct some problem areas. He does not use spikes, but moves around the tree via ropes. He does all the trimming himself, so what trimming is outlined during the bid process is what is actually done. The tree is more open, and from the street it looks like it has been sculpted rather than cut. Without asking and for no additional charge he performed a little trimming on a nearby crab apple tree. His bid was not the cheapest, but his work far exceeds any trimming done by other tree trimming companies that have been used in the past.

Chuck left me an estimate after coming by on Saturday and followed up with a call on Monday and Tuesday after we'd first talked Friday evening. He came out Tuesday morning - cut up tree into manageable chunks, cut trunk down to ground level, and shredded all branches. Cleaned up all debris. He was very patient in answering questions about this event and other trees in the yard and willingly gave plenty of detailed and written advice on care going forward, as well as estimates for tending to our other trees for optimal health. Liked that he gave the estimates per tree, so that we can pick what we want to do as priorities and money allow...

Everything went great. He gave a bid and then honored it several months later when I was ready to do the work. He came on schedule, completed the work to my satisfaction, and cleaned up afterward.

Excellent! I was unable to get on Chuck's list the year before, but he was kind enough to come by my house and take a look at my trees to see if I needed any immediate service. We determined that it could wait until I could get on his schedule, and I'm glad I waited. He did an excellent job (including the clean up) and my trees look great. I'll be using him again this year to trim a few more trees, if I can get on his schedule. Sorry for waiting so long to submit a report!

My experience with them was good. They came out and looked at the trees. I wanted a sycamore tree to be cut down because I was having problems with limbs blowing down but he convinced me that it probably should not be. He said that he would get up there and trim them off. I had him look at another tree that had bugs or something that had bored into it. He injected that tree with some chemical. I would use him in the future, if necessary.
