He pulled the wood insert out to clean the chimney. Put a blanket on the floor so the carpet would not get dirty. Answered all our questions we had on converting fireplace into an electric fireplace.

I love those guys. Those guys were fantastic. We have a gas fireplace so it wasn't quite comparative. We just moved to the house a year before. I didn't know if the chimney had been cleaned. I wanted some information about it. I was very glad I had them come. I have their cards too. If I have an questions about the fireplace, I would certainly call them again. Anybody who has a wood-burning fireplace ought to call them. They're really good. They were just awesome. They did such a great job.

They were really quick and right on time. They made sure they explained everything to me so I knew what they were doing. I was very pleased with them and happy they found nothing wrong with our chimney! They also cleaned up after themselves which is always a bonus!

Tim performed the inspection after I purchased a $95 inspection deal (scheduled by Lisa in The Cinder Box front office--very accommodating and great to work with!). Since my husband and I were moving into a newly purchased home, I also scheduled a chimney sweeping add-on. Tim was very thorough with his inspection, reviewing the firebox, chimney column, and chimney cap and crown. He even allowed me to view the video inspection and pointed out the areas of concern. Due to the poor condition of the chimney (evidenced by the missing/washed out mortar and cracked crown), Tim's recommendation was not to use the chimney for wood-burning fires. He suggested converting the fireplace to gas if we wanted to use it, or just keeping the facade for decorative appeal and possibly burning candles in it. Rebuilding the chimney for use as a wood-burning unit was going to be cost prohibitive, so we took his advice and just used it for decoration. Since the chimney was not going to be used for fires, Tim did not perform the sweeping add-on, so we saved a bit of money. Overall, the service was professional, efficient, and tidy. I would use The Cinder Box again and recommend their services to others.

We had moved in our home in the spring and hadn't used the wood stove yet. We wanted to make sure the stove was safe to use before the cold weather hit. They worked cleanly and efficiently. They were very professional and used everything at their disposal to make sure the inspection was thorough and proper. They took the time to explain every aspect of the system and made sure I understood how things worked. They did a great job and I will have them back when we are ready for a sweep.

We just moved in to our house and the gas log fireplace was a mess and we wanted someone to come out sell us on a solution. The only way they would come out was to perform and "inspection" of the fireplace, which would cost us $125.00. The guys came out on time and professionally looked at the fireplace and told us it was a good thing we didn't turn it on. So, we asked lots of questions about what our options were. All we got were promises that someone would get back with us with prices of whole new systems. We still aren't sure why it can't be repaired, but after 4 weeks and no response from them, I called to see if they forgot us. Seems they did. The lady who answered the phone emailed me some brochures of 3000-4000 dollar fireplaces. We still aren't sure why it can't be repaired and we're out $125.00 for someone to tell us what we already knew.

Lisa at the Cinder Box was very responsive and professional. After they completed the initial work, I felt like one of the extensions from the top of the chimney was too crooked and looked horrible. (it was crooked due to the installation on the interior shaft that was done years past-NOT by Cinder Box). Cinder box came back out and were able to fix the extension so it would not appear crooked. They did not charge us for the extra visit as they wanted us to be completely satisfied. I would definitely use them again and will use them in the future for all of our fireplace maintenance.

I had bought a chimney inspection, upon arrival I decided to also have my chimney cleaned. Technicians swept fire box, cleaned smoke chamber, and chimney. This was done to satisfaction. During the inspection, the technicians put a camera into my chimney to inspect it. I was told my mortar joints were missing and I had a cracked chimney liner. In the report, they did not indicate where the crack was located and how extensive the crack was. They also did not indicate where the mortar joints were missing in the report. Were these problems within the roof structure or was in the part of the chimney above the house? I was told not to use my fireplace and the liner needed to be replaced. They could not provide this service and told me to find another company. They did not give me any recommendations and left me to fend for myself. They did not give me a copy of the video to show the next company that came out. Because of this, I was forced to pay for another inspection from another company. I called and asked the Cinder Box if they had a copy of the video. There response was "We usually don't save them unless the customer needs them." If they recommended I needed a new liner which would cost thousands of dollars, don't you think I would need the video to show another company the damage?

It was fine. They were friendly and punctual. They cleaned everything up and there was no mess after they left. They did exactly what they said that they would do and my interaction with them was fine. I did not have any issues with them at all and they were very nice to deal with. I did not spend anything over and above the big deal price and they came out to do the work probably within the next two weeks after I purchased the deal. They were good. I would call them again.

There was a short circuit in a switch near the fire place but I wasn't able to locate where the noise was coming from and I thought it was the fireplace so I called them. But he was very nice. He said your chimney is clean you don't have any problems and he looked on the outside and everything was fine. He did what he was supposed to do and it was completely my error to make a call before I carefully inspected every light switch on the wall. He was very pleasant, very appropriate and very professional. I was very happy that he squeezed us in and came right over.

This company was great!!! They had done a sweep for me back in august when I purchased my home... contracted through a different company so when my damper wouldn't close (and I thought i broke it) I contacted them directly. Lisa was great! she called me right away and luckily was able to send a tech out immediately to take a look at the situation! So grateful they could squeeze me in before all the nasty weather we're supposed to have in the next week and will definitely use them again in the future!!

They rebuilt our chimney from the peak of the roof up. They used all new materials. They were extremely professional. It is a very professional looking job.

It went well. They were clean and they came out early. They did a full analysis and were gone very quickly. The price was a little high.

The Cinder Box sent over a terrific mason to estimate the teardown and replacement of a chimney on a house I'm buying. He was there right on time, assessed the chimney and asked all the right questions. Instead of replacing the concrete cap with more concrete, he's cutting a piece of limestone - in my eyes, that's the RIGHT way of doing things. Since the work cannot be done until Spring and warmer weather, he even offered to come out and tarp the chimney - this tipped the scales for me and I will be contracting with them after closing on the purchase of the house next week. Very pleased with how they responded. The quote was received the next day. My real estate agent claimed the amount is pretty much what she expected and had recommended them.

This turned out well. They came out, did the inspection, and ended up replacing the top portion of my chimney cap with a new stainless steel cap. He was very conscientious of my home during the inspection. We ordered the cap through them and it came within four days. They kept us informed of the order progress as well. The work was satisfactory and the timing was good as well.

I contacted them through the angies list recommendation for an emergency service. Came out and cleaned our Chimney Flute, went above and beyond the call of duty.l Had to climb into a tiny attic space and work there way through brick chiminey. Removed 2 bags that may have been there for years. We had our Chimney Swept 2 years ago, and they never went into the attic. Really thankful for their serice and for angies list.

The handled everything in a professional manner and except for the two issues list below the work was good. However I was somewhat disappointed that the work area was left unclean. They did not sweep up around the dryer and usually this is something any company does as part of the work. I also called to ask why they did not clean out the area below where the vent sits in the dryer. There was a lot of lint that I had to clean out after they left; but they said no company cleans that area out.

I purchased a Big Deal for chimney sweeping. I had a second chimney and they did the second one since they were already at my home for a very reasonable price. They were prompt, cleaned up after themselves, and were very thorough in their work.
