A-1 Concrete Leveling & Foundation Repair

I reached out to A-1 through Angie's List to request a quote for my project.  I received a response the next day suggesting that I submit pictures to expedite the estimate process since the estimator was running several days out.  I took several pictures and sent  them to A-1.  I received a response the next day with a ballpark estimate of $240-300.  I scheduled the work which was running two weeks out.  I was not home during the work but viewed with results after getting home and was very pleased with the results.
The walkway needed five sections leveled.  The step was leveled/raised along with the section in front of it.
The leveling is done by drilling holes in the concrete so there are signs of the work being done.  Other than the repaired holes in the walkway, there were no signs of the work being done.  Surrounding yard and mulch beds were undisturbed.
I received a 10% Angie's List discount, total for the work was $480.  
Result looks great.

 They were extremely courteous on the phone. The appointment for the estimate was done on the day arranged. They stated I did not need to be there so they left a quote in my door. I was very happy with their quote. I called the next day and set an appointment for them to do the work. Even though they stated I did not need to be there, when anything is done on our house I like to be there. They showed up exactly when scheduled. They introduced themselves and got right to work. Just before completion they asked me to inspect the work. It was perfect. They then finished up, cleaned up everything and presented me with the invoice for the quoted price.

They're very good. They do what they say they were going to do and how they say they're going to do it for what they said they're going to do it for. They couldn't do everything I asked them and they were upfront and told me so. They were honest.

My neighborhood association told me I was responsible for a crack in the sidewalk in front of my house where the sidewalk sinks a little. I had a lot of trouble reaching providers who would help, or who would do so for a reasonable price. A1 took care of it right away. They raised two sidewalk squares beyond the crack so the sidewalk is now level, quoted me $240.00,  (a minimum scharge) and then charged me $216.00 due to an angies list discount I didn't even ask for. They warranty their work for two years.

I have quite a few minor cracks throughout my 1929 all brick duplex, both in the foundation and the exterior walls.   It did take about a month to get an appointment with Ron, but I am sure glad I waited.  He is the nicest guy and honest, honest and honest.   Ron suggested we get a structural engineer take a look before spending a fortune on piers, which he did not recommend at this point in time.  In fact, he had been to our property about 16 years prior and remembered the place very well.  I had met with 2 other contractors before Ron who suggested adding piers to one corner of the foundation.  These guys had very good reviews, but what they failed to tell me is all of the additional work that would be needed after the piers were installed (such as fixing more cracks on the interior and exterior, potential damage to the hardwood floors, potential that the doors and windows would no longer open correctly after the piers were installed).   If the structural engineer does end up suggesting piers, I will DEFINITELY be using Ron to do the work.

Very smooth, very professional, only took about an hour and they thoroughly cleaned up after themselves.

We have used them in the past, because they do quality work AND STAND BEHIND IT.  Ron Bowen the owner came out to give us an estimate.  Some of what they had done before needed leveling again, along with some other areas.  We set up an appoint to have the work done.  Jim and his helper showed up right on time.   We went over what needed to be done to ensure we were in sync.  They completed the work, and Jim had me inspect it.  It was done just the way we agreed.

Work was fine and results were great. The company was recommended to me by two other business people, as well as Angie's list. I was quite pleased with the service.

They did a great job. We weren't here when they did the job, but when we got home we checked out their work. Everything looked good. We would use them again.

It wasn't completely level due to the pool cover, but I give them all A's.

Each of the times Ron and A-1 Concrete have come out, he has assessed the situation and offered alternative solutions even though it would mean not having him performing any work.  How about that, a tradesman who is more interested in telling the straight story than landing a good paying job.  We've also had an issue with water coming into the front of our house and, even though they were fully booked 4-6 weeks out, Ron came by and assessed the situation.  Again, his analysis indicated no work for A-1, but he gave us some good honest feedback about what could be occurring.  It was during this trip that we asked him for a quote on leveling the patio concrete and that work is scheduled to be started in 4 weeks and we'll be thinking spring to get our drive concrete slabs leveled as well.
The interaction with Ron and A-1 has been refreshingly frank and honest.  His comments and suggestions are more focused on solving our problem rather than trying to sell us a service.  I would highly recommend Ron and A-1 for anybody that has an issue with concrete or foundations.

The guys at A-1 Concrete were excellent. I want to start by saying we had an estimate for the same exact job to be performed by AAA Mudjacking which was for ~$3-3500. We had a second opinion completed by the folks at A-1 and their estimate was $750.00. They ended up billing us...$750.00. 
 The problem we had at our home was that the concrete slab in our livingroom had fallen around 1-2 inches. This created a large crack in the floor and caused the floor to be un-level. We were very concerned about this and were afraid we were going to need pylons installed under the house and the cost of many thousands of dollars. We had a structural enginneer out to look at the slab and he said that mudjacking is all that we needed. 
We had to book about around 1 month to have the work down by A-1, but it was definitely worth the wait. On the day of the job, their entire team arrived on time and was very polite. They immediately assessed the job and each member of the 3 man team started to get to work. They all proceeded to continue working until the job was completed ~ couple hours. They kept my wife and I involved in the conversation and decision making throughout the process. They were very knowledgeable about their trade and took pride in doing a good job. We were very happy with the end result. They cleaned up everything when they were done and even offered to help us put the carpet back in place!
I would not hesitate to recommend them to my family, friends or neighbors in the future. I hope that we don't need their services again, but we would not use any other company in the future.

So far I am very pleased.  Only complaint is that they are so busy it took almost a month just to get an estimator out and then another month to get the work scheduled.   But, they showed up as promised on the dates scheduled and worked quickly and efficiently, cleaning up after themselves.  I saved 50% from the lowest cost quote to replace that I had.   I was very impressed with how they covered the holes they drill.  My drive and walk have an exposed aggregate finish, and they were able to match it so the holes blend in.

They came when scheduled, did the work in about 11/2 hrs., cleaned up well, and took Angie's List coupon.Sidewalk is now level and looks great.

It was excellent. They did a great job. They did what we asked and cleaned up afterwards. They have a unique system of leveling concrete. They put a compound under the concrete and it levels it. I would definitely use them again.

Ron came out and provided estimates for work to be performed months ahead of the eventual appointment.  His technicians that came out to perform the work did exactly as he stated in the proposal.  Furthermore, the technicians were adept at answering questions.  The company exceeded expectations in the workmanship.  The sidewalk was level by the end, the stairs were jacked up, and the mess they created was cleaned up.  They were excellent.

We had a sewer replaced several years ago across our front yard.  After the ground settled, the sections of sidewalk were

replaced.  After awhile they began to settle.   We got tired of looking at them so we called two contractors to give us

estimates.   Both were "A" rated but A-1's estimate was significantly lower.  We made the appointment to have it done.

A couple of weeks later they came out and drilled a number of holes in the sections and pumped a slurry in and

raised the sections to level.  They were punctual and professional.  They cleaned up what little mess they made.

We're very satisfied with the results.

Ron came out to look at some cracked walls and ceiling separation.  He took the time to walk through and look at everything I wanted to show him - all of my concerns.  He told me what the problem was, and what he would recommend to fix it, even though he knew (probably when he walked in) that his company would not be doing the work (problem was not with concrete).  He also gave me recommendations on other repair jobs, such as water in basement and attic ventilation.  I would definitely call him if I needed his services.
