I paid $170 to have my truck detailed before an extended trip.  I delivered the truck in the morning and picked up in the afternoon.  Much to my aggravation, when I picked up the truck, the first thing I noticed was that the smudge marks on the paint were not buffed out.  I asked why they were not dealt with and the owner of the company told me they did not use a coarse enough rubbing compound to remove them. He offered to use a courser product if I would bring the truck back, but my schedule would not allow for that.  I asked why he didn't simply do the job right the first time and he explained that their "standard" detail service did not include that.  Next, I discovered that the seats did not come clean at all.  He explained that away by saying their extractor was not able to get the fabric clean.  Mind you, the soiling on the seats was simple water stains and mild soiling from normal wear and tear.  I asked him to address that and he applied a cleaning solution that did nothing.  Next I discovered that they did not even vacuum between the seats!  There was dirt and miscellaneous pieces of paper and lost french fries still between the front seats and the console.  I was so fed up, I just paid the bill and left. I should have refused to pay the bill, but trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, I did.  After I got home, I discovered they did not even bother to vacuum out the console and glove box which I had emptied for them so they could do their job with ease.  In addition, I inspected the roof of the truck only to find that it was dusty!  They had not even washed my truck!!!  They apparently tried to clean it with a waterless application and didn't even bother to touch the parts they couldn't see from the ground.  The owner also explained to me that they were unable to get some tree sap off of the finish as if that is a huge job. He said that was not part of the "standard detail".  I have to say he does not begin to understand what the word "detail" means!  In all honesty, I went to a carwash and paid $22 for a deluxe wash and vacuum and got a better result.  His main business is to sell after market products for cars.  I went to inquire about getting a tail gate cap for my truck.  He was unable to get the product I needed.  While there, I asked whether he could refer me to someone to detail my truck and he said they provided that service.  I  cannot say he  provided any level of satisfaction in offering that "service" to me.
