Stash Construction was established in 1983. We specialize in Fire/ water Damage restoration. We offer a 24/7 emergency service with a minimum 30 minute response time from initial call. On the retail side of the spectrum our strength lies in Kitchen and Bath Remodels, Additions, Decks, Roofing, Siding and Windows. Photos of our work can be made available upon request.
Description of Work: Paid $45 early part of this year. Offered two dates that they could choose from to come by my home. They didn't respond. I left town for business and didn't follow up. Months later I called to reschedule. Was told they were very busy with recent heavy rains. Finally scheduled a specific date and time Several days before appointment they called to schedule the appointment for the same day but two hours earlier. I agreed since I wanted this done as soon as possible. Time for appointment and no one shows up. I call the scheduled estimator and he told me something took an hour and half longer than he expected so he offered to be at my home in two hours. Which would have been the original time. $45 paid. Do I need more grief and aggravation? Take the money. Run. You lost out on a $95,000 job.

It never went.
Description of Work: We asked for a quote on a remodel, and they just never responded. The job was probably beyond their scope, but if they just would have politely declined it would have been ok. They just kind of left us hanging. Luckily we found a great contractor (The Woodshop) and we are very happy we went with them.

Stash and the crew were always available in person, by phone, or email. The crew was great around kids and pets. The workers were friendly and explained the work that was going on and kept on task. We had a great overall experience from the free and fast estimate to the excellent work that was done to our home. We would definitely call them again!

Replaced shingles on my roof. They used shingles that were light grey when my roof is dark grey. They told me it is the exact same color which it clearly isn't. And, the date is of this month because they even told me since the shingles were the same color they would blend after a year, well, its been a few seasons and no color change has occurred. It was like if they told me it enough times I would believe it. They wouldn't re-do it (at that time). In MY own opinion, I think they just used shingles left over from another job. Also, the price. I was mislead. Beware, in my opinion they told me what I wanted to hear and it wasn't what was. Really disappointed. OH, SO I POSTED THIS ON HERE AND THEN RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM A LAWYER STATING THAT IF I DON'T REMOVE THIS POST FURTHER ACTION WILL OCCUR AS DEFAMATION OF CHARACTER AND FALSIFYING INFORMATION. THEY ALSO WANTED TO ALL OF THE SUDDEN FIX WHAT THEY HAD DID WRONG (THIS WAS STATED OVER A PHONE CALL) NOW THAT I'M POSTING IT ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND REPORTING THEM TO THE BBB. I DON'T WANT THEM TO FIX IT, I WANT TO MAKE SURE EVERY TIME SOMEONE COMES TO MY HOME THEY SEE THE POOR JOB THAT WAS DONE. AND, I WANT TO WARN EVERYONE OF WHAT COULD HAPPEN IF THEY ARE NOT CAREFUL. THEY WILL NEVER BE WELCOMED ON MY PROPERTY AGAIN, SO, I'M NOT SEEKING ANYTHING BUT MAKING SURE THAT PEOPLE BECOME AWARE. PLEASE CHECK OUT THE PICTURE AS IT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REDONE RIGHT AWAY. OH, AND THERE IS TONS MORE I COULD PUT ON HERE ABOUT HOW HORRIBLE I THINK IT WAS WORKING WITH THEM BUT THERE ISN'T ENOUGH TIME IN THE WORLD, IN MY OPINION. ALSO, IN MY OPINION, JUST MAKE SURE YOU GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING FROM QUOTES TO WARRANTIES!! PLEASE LEARN FROM MY LESSON. YES, I AM SCORNED AS THIS WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH A CONTRACTOR, I WILL PROBABLY NEVER TRUST A CONTRACTOR EVER AGAIN AND IT HURTS KNOWING THAT PEOPLE CAN GET AWAY WITH CERTAIN THINGS. AND YES, THIS IS ALL BASED OFF MY OPINIONS BUT I ADDED A PICTURE JUST TO SHOW THE DIFFERENCE IN COLOR OF THE ROOF. AND, I WOULD HAVE POSTED ON HERE SOONER BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO RUIN THE CHANCE OF HAVING MY WARRANTIES FILLED IF SOMETHING WENT WRONG. BUT, SINCE I HAVE BEEN FIXING THE MISTAKES THUS FAR BY MYSELF, I FEEL I NEED TO WARN MY PEERS.

Response from Stash Construction
Member, we are sorry for your experience. However, there are a few important details that have been left out of your version of the events. My response is inline: Approximate Cost: $4,700.00 Stash: The cost bid to do the entire slope of the roof was $4200 to include all other work stated below. She chose to do work totaling $2919.00 Description Of Work: I had some work done on my roof. I may be off on the pricing! Stash: She had us perform many more tasks than identified here, for far less money then noted. Please read below. Member Comments: Replaced shingles on my roof. Stash: She had us remove three skylights, reframe the voids, re-roof, reflash around entire roof, perform some maintenance around the chimney and some other items like permits, dumpsters, etc…(total cost $2919) They used shingles that were light grey when my roof is dark grey. They told me it is the exact same color which it clearly isn't. Stash: Although the color of shingles on her home were no longer available, she chose the color with the help of a roofer and his assistant. Once the shingles were selected, the project manager was notified as he was on-site. And, the date is of this month because they even told me since the shingles were the same color they would blend after a year, well, its been a few seasons and no color change has occurred. Stash: Please see the attached pictures. The orientation is off because there were taken on the roof…but the color is clearly much lighter in them. These were taken in November of last year when the work was performed. In MY own opinion, I think they just used shingles left over from another job. Stash: The shingles were ordered from Allied Supply in Merrillville according to her selection Also, the price. I was mislead. Stash: She was quoted a price of $4200 to re-roof the entire slope and remove three skylights, reframe the voids, re-roof, reflash around entire roof, perform some maintenance around the chimney and some other items like permits, dumpsters, etc… Stash: In order to save money, she chose to only replace the portion of the roof that covered up to the voids left by the skylights. That is why the distinct line is apparent in her picture. In response to our lawyer: Member, Our lawyer did reach-out regarding the posts. As noted, the accounts you’ve represented are not complete and do not share the actual events. Since we have offered to rectify the situation and that offer has been declined, our hope is that you choose to accurately portray the events here and with visitors to your home. Once again, we are very sorry for your experience. Our 30 year record in business and our long history with a BBB A+ rating stand on their own. As with all home owners that become clients, we are willing to visit and check the home for warranty issues or defects… we can also make some suggestions on how to match the rest of the slope if aesthetics are your main concern.

We had a house fire caused by electrical wiring in the attic. Stash Construction was on a recommended list of companies which our insurance company provided for fire damage repair. Stash has a good relationship with our insurance company, so I was able to initiate repairs through my insurance agent. This made our needed fire repairs a much smoother process. Immediately, Josh Milton of Stash Construction contacted me. We walked through the house, and we discussed what needed to be done. Josh kept everything moving smoothly. I could contact him with questions via text, email, and calls, and he always made himself available. Upon request, he would meet me at the home throughgout the process. Josh worked with me and my insurance provider to help me get the most out of the restoration that had to be done. He did an excellent job with communication and quality. I would say that he treated me like a person, not just a client. After it is all said and done, my wife and ai have never been happier with our house. Stash did and excellent job at going above and beyond in their service. I highly recommend Stash Construction! John Cole

There was storm damage to my house. They came out and did a temporary fix while waiting for the insurance claim to process. They sent out plenty of workers to have the roof stripped & re-shingled in 2 days. Then they came in and did the repairs on the inside (drywall, paint) in another 2 days. They also came back a week later when additional damage was noticed & fixed that promptly.

Josh Milton came out to give an estimate. The job started on 11-14-2010 and finished on 12-9 2010. The workers were prompt and professional at all times. They removed all debris and all contents which were salvagable were stored in a pod in which Stash construction provided. Josh even had TLC plumbing to come out and inspect the back flow valve in question. The workers were honest and posessed many skills in their field and trade. They worked with me from paint color to trim as well as flooring. When the job was complete they moved all contents back in and nothing was damaged. Many thanks to Josh, Bill. Mike, Brock, Mike and Josh Milton the project manager for a job well done. I highly recommend this awesome company for all your home improvement needs. My basement looks like a picture from HGTV... I hope to work with you again soon. thanks once again for your care.

The whole process went great. The staff at Stash are great to work with. They rolled with all the changes I made to the original plans and worked with us to find/get the best deal on all the materials used in the process. They took our suggestions and gave us input as to what would work best for our area/time/money. I can't say enough about working with Brock and Mike and the gang. They went the extra mile to make sure our family was comfortable through out the 2 1/2 month process. It rained A LOT and they even came in in the middle of the night to re-secure the tarp on the basically open house just after they tore the roof off. When I say that they made us as comfortable as possible, I'm saying that because at the time I was 9 months pregnant and we had an 18 month old daughter..... (crazy I know to start construction at that time). We STAYED IN THE HOUSE THE ENTIRE TIME!!! They tarped off the part of house under construction to make sure we didn't get too much dust and elements inside. They also went to a great deal of trouble cleaning up after each day to make sure the house was not full of nails and safe for our 18 month old daughter to play in and outside. I can't imagine doing it again, but Stash is who I would have do it with out a doubt.
Description of Work: Stash came out and gave us an estimate/proposal on adding a second floor to 1/3rd of our house. We had a couple of other estimates completed by competitors and found Stash's price to be the most affordable for all that we were asking. They had to take off the roof on 1/3rd of the house and then start the process of building the second level. Once the roof was taken off Mike and Brock noticed that the structure would need more support to build up. They made the changes that needed to be made to keep things rolling and meet the requirements to keep our family safe. They built a master suite for us with a gorgeous in suite bathroom including a surrounded glass shower and separate air jet tub. Two sink vanity and pocket door for that bathroom. They put in a trey.(sp?) ceiling and worked with us and their electrician to place multiple drops for cable/phone and internet. With this second story was converting one of our first floor closets in to a utility room for all of the hot water heater and heating and air equipment. They also installed a full house generator for us (included in estimate).
