I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service. He was very nice and gave us some good tips on a few things. I had an additional cost of about $225.
Description of Work: I used Plumbing Heating Paramedics to clear a stopped up sink. This included cutting pipes underneath the sink so it took him parts of two days to do the work.

Service was done in a professional manner. The office called to schedule the appointment and the technician arrived at the appointed time. Randy was professional yet friendly. He explained the work he was doing and answered the many ?'s we had re additional work we might do in the future. We liked him very much. He took the time to explain the background of the company he worked for as well as what he had done previous to working for them. We were also impressed with Cathy the office receptionist that did the phone scheduling.

I called the company in the morning and had a new, larger water heater of the same brand well before dinner that day. The replaced heater was 4 years old and still under warranty, but I was charged $450 for labor and $150 for going from a 40-gallon to a 50-gallon heater. I didn't price-shop, so I don't know whether this was a good price or a bad price, but it seems reasonable to me. The installer also discussed a couple of other plumbing issues I had and provided very helpful advice on how to deal with them. The company includes as part of its service a return visit in a year to inspect the water heater installation and to give it its annual flush, all at no charge. The company also works with HVAC and the installer took a few minutes to describe their annual inspection package, which includes a furnace inspection in the fall, an A/C inspection in the spring, and an annual plumbing inspection, as well as price breaks if repair is needed. The installer checked my water pressure and suggested that the leak might have developed becausethe pressure is a bit high, and he offered to install a device to deal with that (at a cost of about $300), but I checked with two friends in Ohio who are plumbers and they both told me it was unnecessary.

HVAC technician was on time for both the inspection and when he returned to install ordered parts. He was very friendly and efficient. He explained and showed me the problem, and then showed me the repair. I watched as he confirmed the humidifier was in working order and no longer leaked.

The service was excellent! The place of service was at my son's home. The air conditioner/heat pump quit working there and I was able to meet the serviceman at my son's home to let him into the house. At first, when I called the company, the person who answered the phone wasn't sure she would be able to get me on the schedule, however, when she checked the list of jobs to do that day, she told me they had just had a cancellation and the service person would be at my location very soon. He was there very quickly because his previous job was close by. The job was done in just a short time, luckily. The service person was very professional and courteous. I would definitely call them again!

I payed for an AC tuneup & the tech spent all of his time telling me how old my AC unit is & trying to sell me a heat pump & other gas units. He did not take into account my unique situation with my word burning stoves. He didn't even change the filter because he was too busy trying to sell me things I don't need. I ended up paying way over price for a capacitor. He did not honor the 20 point inspections that I payed for. I do not recommend this company at all. I would at the very least hope they will make the trip out to replace my filter. Update 8-5-13: When I called to explain how the tech didn't perform the service that I payed for to clean & service my AC, it was explained to me that he used the $39 AC tuneup to pay for a service call. It was also explained to me how the tech saved me money. A $30 capacitor for $350, this was a rip off. This should have all been explained to me at the time of service. I will never use this company.

Response from Plumbing Heating Paramedics
(removed member name), First of all the day you were to have your A/C tuneup you were having problems with your A/C unit. The tech used your Angie Big Deal to fix your A/C unit saving you $39.95 on a normal service charge of $69.95. He found you had a bad capacitor at the time and charged you the going price for that part that you OK'd at the time. You were not given a new filter because he did not do a cleaning on your A/C that day but used your service for a service call. Also the Angie List offer clearly states that the filter is for a 1" standard filter and you do not have a standard filter. It would not have been replaced for free of charge being a much more expensive filter than the ad states. You stated when you called in that you were having problems with your A/C and wanted an opinion about your options to fix rather than replace. That is the only reason he ever went into the price of replacement. I am sorry you are not happy, the tech was trying to help you. Thank you

We were hoping that they could make the upstairs cooler. He said it would be $600-$800 worth work. I approved that the work to be done since I own the house. He told the tenant that they they would new a new system. He should not have talked to the tenants about this. He said he called me but I didn't answer-but I have no record of the call. I learned about the new system from the tenants. The tenants are extremely unhappy-they think they need a new unit and upon a second opinion getting the system would not fix the problem. Carrie, who I talked to on the phone, is really nice. The owner of the company contacted me they took the complaint very seriously and we were able to come to a resolution and I am completely satisfied.

I bought a Big Deal for the inspection & 1lb of refrigerant. The tech came out to look at the unit. It was not running properly and there was a leak. We were advised to get a new unit. So he really couldn't do anything. He was nice and professional but it was a waste of money on my part.

I purchased a Deal from Angies list for plumbing visit. Basically, I just wanted information about my sump pumps, etc. as, I had recently purchased my home. The plumber arrived on time and gave me the information I needed . It was then I found out that I had to pay a sizable trip charge for his visit...not fair and was not in the deal I saw. At that point I asked him to fix a leaky toilet valve (which I was planning to fix). that went well, but he spent a lot of time trying to fix a hesitation in the flapper return to be seated. He never did solve that problem. But I did two months later. Believe me this was no DEAL, I was taken on this one and would not recommend this company.

3 words for Ryan and his company, HONEST and AMAZING!!!!!! Our old air conditioner finally gave out during the heatwave of July 2013 amid 93 degree temperatures. I called two A/C companies for repair and repacement quotes only to find out that my least expensive option would be $3500-4,000 for a replacement. To top things off we were closing on a new house and selling our existing home within a week of when our A/C unit went out. After feeling defeated I called Plumbing Heating Paramedics. The young lady I spoke with on the phone understood my urgency and sent Ryan out to look at the A/C unit and give us a replacement quote that very same day! Much to my suprise Ryan was not just "another sales guy", rather he was one of the owners of the company! The Employees at this company are not paid on commission and really do right by the customer. Ryan was not only able to squeeze us into the schedule for a quick replacement, but Plumbing Heating Paramedics saved us over $1,000 on our new unit! My wife and I cannot thank you all enough for the awesome job your company did for us. You will be doing any work we need in the future! A++++++

I have not been very impressed with heating and air conditioning companies, or some of the plumbers I have used, in the past. My experience with Plumbing Heating Paramedics totally turned all that around. They worked around my schedule and came out within a week of me purchasing the Big Deals. Bev helped schedule the two Deals - each requiring a different technician - to both come out the same day to save me a hassle. Aaron and Bryce - HVAC and plumbing, respectively - both did an excellent job to me. I had no high-pressure sales techniques applied to me. Aaron in particular gave me some great advice about avoiding paying too much money for unneeded services for my air conditioner, and did more than I thought I had paid for with my inexpensive Big Deal. I was so impressed with both of the gentlemen that came out, I purchased a service agreement for the company for the following year. I typically refuse to do things like that out of distaste for pushy salespeople, but Aaron and Bryce were up-front, pressure-free, and only discussed the services or needs that I asked them to. I couldn't be more happy with the service.
Description of Work: I bought two Big Deals - one was for 39 dollars for an A/C checkup and new filter, and one was for 111 dollars for a new outdoor hose bibb. I also purchased a one-year service plan with them.

They did a really nice job. They came out. I had a leaky faucet but unfortunately they weren't able to fix that. They must have spend two hours trying to figure out how to fix it. At the end of the day, they just said there's no way to fix it. They came up with an alternate solution and they installed that and I was so very happy of what they did.

I originally bought a Big Deal with this company that was a credit of $69 for any repair of plumbing of HVAC. When i called to use it, the receptionist said that the cleaning/inspection I wanted cost less that $69, and to save the Big Deal for a different job. I thought $51 was a great deal, so I still set up the appointment. The tech-- Brian, I believe-- was professional and patient with my questions and kids. He did run a test on my unit that sad it was "bad." I know the unit is old, and I do expect I'll need to replace it soon, but he didn't try to pressure me into a new one. He did inform me the company offers a Big Deal for replacement/new often, so to keep an eye out for that. I appreciated that, because I'll probably need it in the future.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service. I told him that we did not want to cut into the ceiling so the hose bib is still not fixed. The price was fine.

It started out great. They called a-head of time to let me know they were coming. The man came out did his inspection and changed out the faucet. He did a great job on the faucet. He also came back on the inspection with some other suggestions. My water softener is not working correctly , the upstairs faucet needed help and our tank for the pump needed replaced. They said they would be in contact with me about the estimate. After waiting a day I followed up to see if there was a estimate yet and was told he would call me back. I waiting another day and agian called and spoke with him, he said sorry about the wait and he would call back shortly with my estimate. Today it has been three days and no call back. At this point I am going to have the work done by another plumber.

They were excellent and I would definitely recommend them. They had it accomplished easily within that one hour and everything was done completely correctly and it has functioned perfectly ever since. We set up a time and they were on time. I paid for a little bit of equipment because we had to replace a valve and maybe some piping, but it was a very nominal charge. They were extremely reasonable.

Brian was perfectly on time for the appointment and presented himself very well. He conducted the inspection of the units and when he encountered something he thought I should be aware of he stopped and explained what I needed to know. Brian also answered all of my questions in what I thought was a very honest and professional way. Because he took the time to inform me along the way I was comforatable with the reason that additional work was needed. When asked for his opinion/recomendation he was great with giving me the optoins and then what he thought was best and why. I never felt like he was selling, just informing me. I don't know enough about my home mechanicals to be dangerous, but I am sure I have a compnay I trust now. I have had my AC units inspected and cleaned by a number of other companies over the years as well as a friend who is in the industry. But never has anyone opened up the outdoor unity and cleaned and inspected it as Brian did...I didn't even know you were to do anything more than hose the thing down. Per my comments, no other company has inspired loyalty, so I have not been loyal to one. That changed today - I signed a service agreement and will have them out agian for furnace clean and check when the weather turns. It often turns on the company representative who spends time with you and Brian was OUTSTANDING!
