Looks like things have change dramatically. I had an issue with my order and when I tried to go to the store and find a replacement I found out the employee that I bought the couch from (who I called 1 hour before showing up and told me to come in to the store to talk with him) does not work there anymore. The staff wanted to blame all the issues on him because he was "mattress" salesmen and had no clue what he was doing. They turned very negative when I just wanted my refund and was told my order was "custom" the employee and any paperwork in the store does not show this policy (including the order form for the couch!) I'm having to pay a 25% "restock" fee because Godby has outdated policies and improper training for employees that will lie, cheat and steal from you. Godby will only bring problems, not solutions when trying to work with you.

I went to the Noblesville store to inquire about the inventory because they had delivered the incorrect chair. They told me there would be a 10% restocking fee and a 25% return fee for the chair that I didn't even order. They told me to go to the Avon store to look for it. The next day they called and told me the chair was at the Carmel store. Also, they wanted me to pay the full price for the chair even though it was on sale when I originally ordered it. In the mean time, I ordered a custom-grey couch to match the chair but since I wasn't getting the grey chair, I settled for a red couch and a red chair. I had also ordered extra pillows for this chair, but had to cancel one of them because they didn't come in the red that I was settling for. Since then, I feel the company is giving me the run around. They keep telling me to pay the 25% restocking fee and they won't really respond to any of my phone calls. I just feel like this has been such a hassle. I asked them to refund the delivery fee of $299 for the chair and the couch due to this, but they weren't really that responsive to me.
Description of Work: Ordered a special lazy-boy chair in charcoal grey, but they delivered a completely different chair.

First, customer service hours are not at all customer friendly. 8 to 5 only, weekdays only. Nothing like buying overpriced cheap furniture and having to take off work twice to have it looked at and/or repaired. The repair guy came out on the first trip, and was very professional. He fixed a flaw in one chair, and brought temporary legs for the other while we waited for the correct size/color legs to be delivered. He also made a brief repair to the fabric pull in a chair and indicated that he'd have to order a new cushion cover for it from the manufacturer. After he left we found yet another issue with one chair and reported that as well. For service call #2, the same nice guy came out with THE WRONG LEGS for the chair. That was the reason we initiated contact in the first place. It was the primary reason for him to come out. He ordered the legs on the first service call. I stupidly assumed that the correct legs would be brought out for second and final service call, but that isn't how it's going so far. He did repair the flaw we found after the first trip, but no extra points are given for that since we didn't pay for poorly built furniture. I didn't write a check to the manufacturer, I wrote a check to Godby. So, now we wait yet again. They are replacing one chair entirely, and I'm waiting to hear back on when we'll get the right legs for the chair that is almost what we paid for. I can confirm that there is zero sense of urgency resolving this issue on their end. The customer service manager has been as helpful as possible, but between missing work and having simple things goofed up I can't imagine making another purchase at this place. I could have gotten the same quality at Value City or World Market without all this hassle. UPDATE: Contacted the sales person at 11AM on 2/3/16. No response. Still don't have what I paid for. UPDATE: After contacting customer service again, the sales person responded. "Didn't get any email from me," which is odd since that email came from the same exact email address I used to contact her. Twice, no less. Today is 2/18/16 and I still don't have what I paid for. To quote the customer service manager from a prior email, "it isn't life and death, it's furniture." I sent yet another email to the sales person to get an update on when I can get the correct chair that I paid for. The original transaction date was 11/29/15. This is laughable. Of course, nobody from Godby bothers to respond on this website.
Description of Work: We ordered two chairs. One had the wrong legs and the other had flaws in the fabric. We engaged their customer service department for assistance.

I have ordered a lot of furniture this year from multiple stores and this store was at the bottom of my list in quality and service. I ordered a sectional sofa and a chair and ottoman. When I received a call from the salesman that my furniture was in weeks later on a special ordeI was told there was a mistake ordering . Instead of an ottoman the salesman ordered two chairs. Yes mistakes happen but he was flippant and said well at least you got a chair to sit on. When the furniture was delivered, ( at their convenience with a three hour window ) my husband sat in the chair and felt the chair sunk down on one side. This is flexsteel and we have had four other pieces of flexsteel which we have been pleased with in the past. My husband and I went back into the store to look at the floor model. The salesman said he would mail customer service and copy us. In the email the salesman said he thought the chair only sunk in minimally so we didn't feel very supported. It felt like he had made his sale snd didn't care we were not pleased. offered to order a new cushion which we are waiting on arrival now. This year I also ordered two leather chairs from Ethan Allen. They scratched the chairs , ordered a new one, and have been great to apologize and keep me informed while I am waiting, Will not do business with Godby again.

Labor day weekend I planner to go furniture shopping. Had seen a particular sofa at kittles I wanted to check out. On the way I stopped in at godby in fishers just to do a little comparison shopping. Tammy, the sales associate greeted us at the door. She was very easygoing and friendly, and definitely did not give me the hard sell. I ended up purchasing a quality steelcase sofa and an Indiana manufactured swivel chair for less than the sale price of the sofa at kittles. Items arrived at the warehouse in a timely manner. Only thing I didn't like was having to assemble the chair. One of the bolt channels was threaded incorrectly, but my handy brother found a way around it. All is well and I now have a beatiful comfy livin g room. I will definitely put godby at the top of my list the next time I need furniture.

My wife and I were shopping for new couches. Looked at everything from Gerdt to Kittles to ValueCity. Ended up at Godby, in Avon, found the couches we were looking for. Dealt with Ashley, she was great. Ordered couches and recliner, all as ordered. Only hiccup is that we were not advised when recliner arrived, not sure if it happened to be her day off, but thankfully I called to check. Cheaper than the La-z-boy store, nice choices, friendly people.

Thought I made a good choice by purchasing from Godby as my family and friends have raved about the business. Today I called to report problems with the fabric whicking. Was told that it was PAST my one year warranty on the fabric (which was the first of August) and that they were not responsible. Now I'm "stuck" with furniture that looks terrible. Good bye, Godby! I will not be back!

They had a nice display of furniture. I was looking for a small recliner; they had several of them for me to look at. I found a fabric that I liked and I ordered it. I could have got the same chair at a cheaper price but I got the fabric that I specifically wanted. They had a lot of fabric samples than other stores. The price was reasonable. They did not come as soon as I thought they would. Everybody was very professional.

My husband and I needed a new couch and chair as ours were sagging and falling apart. We went online to comparison price and went to Godbey's about a week before Thanksgiving. We've used Godbey's for our mattresses and other furniture for years and have never been disappointed by any of the sales staff we've worked with. The prices at Godbey's are comparable to other furniture stores and Walmart. In many cases, Godbey's was actually cheaper (beat Walmart a couple times too!) Jackie was very helpful and answered all the questions we had. My husband has a bulging disk that gives him a lot of pain and we wanted to find a couch that would be comfortable for him. We got a Klaussner Catalina couch and opted for the matching chair. We also found a couple of lamps. They held our couch until we had our floors installed (see Shaddai Flooring on Angie's list- they were excellent!). Our chair was supposed to take 6-8 weeks for delivery because we had a different fabric put on it. It came in 12/21 so it was even before the 6 weeks was up. The couch was delivered on time, as promised and the delivery guys were courteous, contentious, and pleasant. As soon as we have more money saved, we will return to Godbey's.

We ordered a Klaussner sofa from the 146th and IN-37 store on November 2nd. At this time, we were told it would take 6-8 weeks for the couch to arrive. At 7 weeks, I called the store to find out if the couch had arrived or if there was a time frame of when the couch would be delivered. I was told the couch was to arrive the week before Christmas. Christmas came and went, and I never heard anything. So, after Christmas I called. The lady that answered the phone indicated that she could not help me and that my sales person would need to give me a call and that she would be in later that day. Our sales person never called, so I called back a week later on January 2nd (2 months after the couch was ordered). I spoke with a sales manager, and he indicated that they were going to call the manufacturer and get back to me. No one from Godby ever called me to indicate what the manufacturer had said. My husband called back and complained that no one was communicating to us what the hold up was. He got the same story that they would call the manufacturer. Miracously, the couch had come that day and was delivered on January 9th - well over 10 weeks from the date it was ordered. We were very disappointed with the customer service we received. It seemed like it was our job to figure out what had happened to our couch, and the sales personnel could have cared less about finding out what was the hold up. We would have appreciated the sales staff being proactive and calling the manufacturer and finding out why the deliver date kept being delayed. Not returning our phone calls was simply unprofessional and is unacceptable. My husband called after the couch was delivered and spoke to a sales manager to express our disappointment. He indicated that he would "get all his ducks in a row," and call us back about possibly compensating us for the poor service we received. It has been two weeks since that phone call and we haven't heard anything. We have bought lots of furniture from Godby and have been very pleased in the past. However, the way we were treated this last instance was terrible. Godby just lost a loyal customer.

I had a very pleasant experience buying my furniture in the store, but cannot seem to get my hutch. It has been on order over 16 weeks and I don't get much follow up from the store. All the other furniture was delivered and I'm very happy with it. The hutch is supposed to come in later this month, but it has been 4 months.

We purchased the furniture from Jason on 1/15/2007. He told us that the hutch was in stock at the warehouse, but he would request another piece from the manufacturer, to ensure everything was from the same lot. Delivery was satisfactory and quick for 3 of the 4 pieces. They were delivered on 2/8/2007, well before the 6 to 8 weeks Jason had told us. However, the hutch was not in this delivery. We waited a couple of weeks, and then called Jason. He told us he would check with his warehouse and get back to us. I had to call Jason again to find out he still didn't know anything. I waited another week and called again. He was still working with the warehouse rep. Finally, another week later, I called and told the person who answered I didn't want to speak to Jason. She found my hutch was in the warehouse and awaiting delivery instructions. Jason was clearly more interested in selling furniture, than in assisting after the sale. Even his tone on the phone indicated that.

I wouldn't ordinarily think to shop at this store but on a whim we stopped in. We found sale leather chairs that were exactly what we were looking for. We tried to get a little more off the price if we purchased multiple but the answer was no. Most stores usually offer something, so it was a little disappointing. We still purchased because we didn't want to shop any more.

I HAD FOUND A SET OF END TABLES AT A FURNITURE STORE IN CHICAGO, BUT DID NOT BUY THEM. I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE THE MODEL NUMBER ONLINE. I WENT TO SEVERAL FURNITURE STORES LISTED AS RETAILERS BUT NO ONE WAS ABLE TO HELP ME - EXCEPT GODBY. ALTHOUGH I WAS NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE SELECTION THEY CARRY IN THE STORE, I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR ABILITY TO HELP ME LOCATE SOMETHING THEY DID NOT STOCK. THEY CAME OUT AND EXAMINED THE PIECE, AND DETERMINED THAT PARTS WERE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT HAD TO BE ORDERED. WE WAITED A MONTH WITHOUT ANY WORD FROM THEM. THEY SAID THEY WOULD CONFER WITH THE STORE. THE REPRESENTATIVE DID FOLLOW UP, SAYING PARTS WOULD BE SENT OUT. WHEN WE FINALLY WERE ABLE TO GET GODBY'S TO SERVICE THE CHAIR, THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE LEATHER IN THE BACK, AND ANOTHER REPAIR TO LEATHER WASN'T DONE AS PROMISED. THEIR FOLLOW UP WAS HORRIBLE. THEY WERE UNPROFESSIONAL, INCONSIDERATE, AND SEEMED TO TAKE LITTLE PRIDE IN THEIR WORK OR REPUTATION. I WILL NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN.
