After 2 years the sofa fabric started to fray. Obviously the fabric was defective. Flex Steel only has a two year warranty and would not stand behind the sofa. And Godby did not stand behind their customer. Oh, they would replace the cushions if I paid for it.

The furniture was finally delivered 3 months after it was ordered. Seven months later with little to no use of the bar stools all of them had nearly fallen apart. Every screw that held the pieces together was near its last thread. I tightened them all over a period of 90 minutes or so. I then noticed that the foot rests on 4 of the stools were assembled upside down. There is a metal protection plate on the foot rest so the finish on the wood would not wear as easily. The plate on six of the stools was correctly facing up whereas four of the foot plates were facing down. I was not about to waste anymore time correcting a problem that should have been noted and corrected before delivery. Upon calling Godby service department and receiving a call back nearly a week later, I was incredulous to hear that because the stools were delivered more than 90 days ago, they would have to charge me a lousy $25 trip charge to come to my house and correctly assemble the bar stools. After all the delays in receiving our order they had the nerve to stick to their policy of 90 days. This is their problem and they should own it.
Description of Work: We ordered a 6 piece reclining module theater seating and 10 bar stools in June 2014. All but 6 bars stools arrived when promised. For the following 2 months we got the run around on why the bar stools were delayed. Each time we had to call them, not the other way around. Three times promised delivery dates passed without calls or any concern on behalf of customer service.

Bought over $4000 worth of furniture from them and within 3 months, 2 chairs completely broke- to the point of being completely worthless anymore. We do not have kids or animals using the furniture so this should not have happened. We were "smart" and had the $1000 warranty so it should not have been a problem. The warranty covered nothing and not worth a penny! The warranty company AND godby will not honor the warranty. In fact they wanted is us to pay another $100 to fix the problem! Needless to say, do not give them your hard earned money - all you will get is poorly constructed furniture, pathetic customer service that obviously does not withstand the golden rule (on the front end they move heaven and earth to get the sale then offer nothing but bad business on the back end), and a warranty that isn't worth the paper written on it. Fooled me once and shame on you... Please look somewhere else for furniture so they can't fool you too. My husband and I are both in sales/customer service. We were amazed by the sincere lack of caring and denial on their part that anything was wrong with the furniture. We have found out from numerous other people we have told our story to that this kind of thing happened to them too- why aren't more people warning others?

Great Buying Experience. I purchased a new Leather Sectional with power recliners. I wanted a quality piece of furniture for a reasonable price. After some negotiation I got what I wanted. I am in sales for a living and enjoy locking horns with another sales person. I got a great deal on a really quality piece of furniture. Don't be afraid to negotiate. There are more pieces of furniture available than people to buy! Godby"s price matched competitors offers and their delivery was excellent. Will negotiate and buy from them again!

Bob McIlvain was a great salesman. He knew when to lay back and let me make my own decisions, yet was always available for questions. The sofa and recliner were already on sale, but by buying all the pieces at one time I got an additional discount on all of them. The two fellows who delivered the furniture did so on one of the hottest days of the year, but I didn't hear any complaints out of them, nor did it affect their work. They were very careful about getting the furniture in the house without damaging it.
Description of Work: I bought a sleeper sofa, recliner and two kitchen stools and had the old pieces those replaced hauled away.

Sales associate Michelle B. was most helpful and patient as my wife and I perused all of the offerings. In the final analysis, her suggestions and pointers helped us select the chair that works best for us and at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: Purchased executive office chair for home office. Store prepped the chair and applied a stain guard to the fabric. I picked up the chair which was ready when they said it would be.

Debbie, the sales person, was exceptionally helpful. She actually had workers (who were moving furniture in the store for display) carry various items to another part of the store so we could see how they looked together. Her advice and expertise were invaluable. She definitely went beyond our expectations. On deliverly day everything went smoothly. We have purchased at Godby before and will in the future.

The delivery people brought the chair and left a note with it that there was a light spot on the arm which they tried to touch up unsuccessfully. We called them and said that we wanted to return it, but they suggested we wait a week to see if the touch up would fade. We waited a couple of days, but decided to go ahead and take it back and were told that a restocking fee was owed; we paid this fee by check. The next day, someone from Godby called and said that we did not owe the money and that the check had been torn up. Soon after, I got my credit card statement and noticed that the charge for the chair was still on my account. I called and told the credit card company that we would not pay that. I continued, however, to receive letters from the credit card company regarding this matter. I found out that the store had told them that there was no record of the chair having been returned. My wife went back in to Godby and received a partial credit, but they were still trying to charge us more than $300. She called them back and was told that we would receive a call from the manager the next day, but we did not. As a side note to all of this, one of the employees at Godby told my wife that almost all of the furniture comes in damaged.
