THRIFTY AUTOMOTIVE SVC

I started using this mechanic because he came highly recommended for his affordability from several reliable sources. Initially when we started using this shop, we were pleased with the service. He will give free estimates, which not all places will do. He's put brake pads on both of our cars. His labor is one of the cheapest in town as well, which they do tell you that when you go there. However, I've had some very high estimates that turned out much cheaper once I shopped around. My last 2 experiences there were mediocre, the quote I thought was a great deal for front/rear brakes ended up only being front brakes, not so good of a deal. In addition, I kept having a horrible sqealing noise coming from my car, and I took it in twice to get it diagnosed and get an estimate. Both times I was told they couldn't find anything wrong. It was in a casual conversation with another mechanic that helped us know it was the air compressor going out, but two trips into the shop and time missed off work, and this shop couldn't find anything wrong. In addition, after I paid for my work to be done on my brakes, I'd had them looked at by a different shop, because they still didn't "feel" right. I then found out that what I thought I had paid for as new had actually just been cleaned up and did not appear to be new. This was the last time I went to this shop. The owner has had a pretty good local reputation but had told me personally that he was having trouble "keeping good help." In addition, I had asked several times if he provided any type of warranty and was told no. I also had not been treated well by the female office staff when I'd called to check on something. Sometimes I would be told my car would be done at a certain time, that time would come and go, and I'd have to make several phone calls just to get a response about when I could pick up my care. I just got tired of the issues and found another local mechanic who would give me the professionalism, affordability, and reliability in the work.

Overall it was no-hassle and the owner of Thrifty will not sell you something you don't need or overinflate parts prices. He gets a lot of business but still gets our work done in a very timely and efficient manner. The prices on custom exhaust are unbeatable.

It went wonderfully! When I have a minor repair, they usually don't even charge me. They are very honest and they will tell me if I don't need a service that I requested.
