There is literally not enough room here to write about just how horrible our experience with the tech, James/Jamie, was. He arrived hours late, sat in the van while I stood on the porch in the rain waiting on him and he never even acknowledged that i was there. He got out of the van, walked down the road to the pole, then came back to the house with a disgusted look on his face. I asked that he please put booties on as our elderly dog is terminal and has an auto-immune condition, so we don't take any chances on something coming in on someone's feet. He literally rolled his eyes and shook his head as he blew out a frustrated breath! He did put them on, then brushed past me into my own house as I'd gestured where the den (thus, the modem/router) was. Part of the problem was that the battery had never worked right. We'd replaced the battery several times but still had no service whatsoever of our phone if the power went out. It was supposed to last for 2-4 hours, but ours didn't last even seconds. James was very condescending and insulting when he told me "You know that only works on old-fashioned land line phones, not cordless phones like these," at which time he actually picked up and dropped, on purpose, our cordless phone AND modem! His bad attitude continued, he kept cutting me off when I tried to say anything, and what finally did me in was when he became enraged that a different tech had been out a few days before when Time Warner was doing an update and their system was down so that tech couldn't do anything. James threw his hands up in the air, started storming around the room, saying how that was just great, some incompetent idiot (from his company, remember) believed my line of crap so I thought I deserved a new, free modem and router. I couldn't believe it. I finally told him that I didn't appreciate his tone, that he was being very disrespectful, and that I wanted him to leave my home immediately. At that point, he picked up the modem and router then literally threw them down again and said, "You think you've got internet trouble now, you just wait! I'm outta here!" He left and got down to the end of the walk and again said that I'd be sorry. Seriously, if I'd been some tiny pretty little thing i'd have been calling the police! I reported him to Time Warner who did nothing about it, didn't even bother to call me back for three weeks. Not sure what happened with James, but he seriously doesn't need to be in the position he's in. I wouldn't be surprised to see his face on the news one day for going psycho on someone who dared ask for their internet service to be fixed. If you get a choice, don't pick Standafer and Sons!!
Description of Work: Nothing but act in a hostile, threatening manner. He didn't even let us explain what was wrong with our modem/router, which he was supposed to replace, while he worked as a sub-contractor for Time Warner Cable.

This was an awful experience, to say the least. Standafer & Sons was scheduled to come to my house between 8:30 am and 5 pm, and was suppose to call first to give me half an hour's notice before they arrived. A man called at 9 am to say he was at my door, yet he didn't call first. I told him I was at work. He said he was going to stop by another house in the neighborhood, and would be back at my house at 9:30. When he hadn't shown or called by 10 am, I called Insight to find out what was going on. The Standafer & Sons contractor was still at the other house and would be at least another 15 minutes. Needless to say, I was upset with the many errors of this man.... stopping by without calling, being late when he said he would be here, and then not calling me to let me know he was running late. I told Insight to let Standafer & Sons know that I did not want this man in my home and to send someone else. SEVEN hours later, nobody had called or shown up to repair my Insight connections, and I lost a FULL day of work! Keep in mind that Insight told me that the service call would be between 8:30 am and 5 pm. So at 5:30, I assumed Standafer & Sons was a no-show, and left for dinner. At 5:40 pm, I received a voicemail from Standafer & Sons telling me that a service man was on his way. Then, I received two more voicemails, one at 6:02 pm stating that the man was at my door and another at 6:16 telling me the man had been waiting for half an hour and asking me to call back if I would like to reschedule! The final result is that my cable and internet were never repaired and Insight never called to find out what happened with its contractor. I have since canceled all services with Insight and switched to DirecTV!
Description of Work: Standafer & Sons is a contractor for Insight Broadband. They were scheduled to resolve issues with my cable TV and internet on August 11, 2011. Due to many errors in lack of communication, they never repaired the problem.
