They did fine. It ended up being more involved than just a tune-up. Turned out I needed to have furnace replaced. I wasn't too happy with the news but all in all they were fine. They were courteous, polite, professional and knowledgeable.

My heating unit wouldn't run. My wife paid Williams $90 to come and see what's wrong, and they did that. The conclusion was that the inducer motor died. The quote they gave to replace it was $930 but they recommended that we replace the whole unit for $4,000-$5,000 as it's ~16 years old. I get home, go look at the unit, and conclude that the inducer motor is an entirely separate unit and fairly easily swapped out. The sales guy comes the next day to discuss what I want to do. We go down to look at the unit, I make sure it's the inducer motor, confirm that it's $930 to replace, and he again recommends that I replace the whole unit for $4,000-$5,000. I ask how long it will take for them to replace the inducer motor and he, sensing that I have some DIY plans, says 2-3 hours and there are a lot of adjustments, etc. Translation: You can't do it yourself. I tell him I have to think about it and send him on his way. I then spend 5 minutes searching online and find the part at Amazon for $190 (same brand same model as what was in there so it's not like "Billy Bob's Inducer Fans" brand). For another $12.99, I can have it arrive the next day, a Saturday. Done. It arrives and, following the instructions that came with it, I replaced the unit in 25 minutes. A lobotomized bonobo high on heroin could do it in less than 2-3 hours. Heater is working now. I completely get that a local business has to make some money. I'm on-board with that. We all have to make money. But $930 for 25 minutes to install a $190 part? And a recommendation that I spend $4,000-$5,000 to replace the unit when a $190 part fixes the problem? Can one trust a company like that?

I also have chosen to do many repairs myself, including replacing my own brake pads on my car after receiving a quote for 399.00 per axle. I was able to get the parts and replace the pads and hardware for under $ 100.00 for both axles and saving 700.00. The biggest difference in that business and the HVAC business is that we send the mechanic to the home in a company vehicle and pay for all of the related expenses and provide an exceptional warranty on the parts and labor Because I have been involved with pricing and understand the total cost of doing business I can understand why their total charge would be so high. I know I could use an independent garage to complete my repair but I chose to use the dealer because of the level of professionalism and service that I receive. When the repair is above my capabilities I do rely on the expertise that a professional can provide. I do applaud you on making the repair yourself and saving the additional cost as I stated above, I also do the same when it is practical. I've used WCA for over 16 years and sign up for an annual service contract with them to keep my heating and air-conditioner in good working order. I was first sold on WCA when I called them on a cold Winter day in December 1998 to fix my 2-year old furnance that had suddenly stopped working. I rememeber the date well becasue I was concerend about my 4-month old infant daughter being in a house without heat. The technician arrived within an hour. After 15 minutes, he had diagnosed the problem. The air inlet to the furnace was blocked due to snow accumulating in it from the previous night's horizontal snowfall. He cleared the inlet, checked that the furnace was producing heat and then left me a "NO CHARGE" bill! I was both appreciative and floored. Fast forward to last week. The technician arrived at the scheduled timeframe to perform the annual maintenance. He asked some general questions about the system and my satisfaction with it's operation then proceeded to perform the maintainence. Along the way, a circuit board malfunctioned which required unplanned effort to repair. The technician was able to replaced the blown board and get the system back up and running even though it was very late into the evening by the time he was finsihed. This occurred on the day before Thanksgiving. Over the next few days, it was obvious that the syetm was operational but not working correctly becasue it was COLD in the house. I have a hybrid system so I switched the heat pump off and engaged the gas furnace until I coould contact WCA and have another technician sent to the house to solve the problem. The 2nd tech. arrived at the scheduled time and proceeded to diagnose the problem which appears to be a wiring issue with the thermostat that casued the system to activate the AC instead of the heat pump. He corrected this problem (which I'm suspicious was casued by poor workmenship when the system was installed by another company known as ServiceExperts). The system is working as expected at this time. Again, WCA resolved the problem at no additional cost to me. I am very sold on their business ethics and their committment to care for the customer. Their techs. are well trained, courteous, and leave the work area clean. I'm not one to write glowing reviews but Williams Comfort Air has earned an A+ in my grade book. I'm very apprecitive that they have kept my family in a warm house in the Winter and a cool house in the Summer.
Description of Work: Annual furnance inspection and tune-up followed by a second service call to resolve a problem with the system not working properly.

This didn't work out as I had hoped, thus the reason I have not reviewed it earlier. I chose Williams because I had a Carrier unit that has been troublesome and in case I had more problems, I thought they might be able to work with Carrier since they seemed to be the larger Carrier dealer locally. The technician thought I might be able to get a good deal on a new system since my current system was less than 10 years old and had been troublesome. I paid for the service contract (which I will never use) hoping to get a better price on a new unit. The salesman gave me a quote and since Williams advertises in multiple periodicals with all kinds of different "deals" I wanted to be sure I got the best price and that next week I wouldn't see an ad with $ off or a free something. Also, I really didn't want another Carrier unit unless Carrier would stand behind the defective unit I had. Needless to say, no help from Carrier and nothing special from Williams. So, I took quotes from other providers and bought a new Trane unit from Bassett which so far has been great. Now with Williams, I'm out the cost of the tune-up, service call and service contract because I will not use them in the future and I will not purchase a Carrier product again.
Description of Work: Checked heat pump could not do tune up because unit had no coolant. Said it appeared to be leaking from air handler coil which would need to be replaced and is expensive. Also, he thought the heat pump could have a leak, but it would cost extra for a leak search. He recommended new unit, charged a service call and stated we should save tune up until next time.

I purchased the Big Deal offer for $44.00. Last winter I had issues with the heat difference in temp between my upstairs and downstairs. This winter I decided to try out Winter HVAC Tune-up since I had failed trying to get some that had been recommended by friends. Literally the referrals i got did not cb and one time another no-showed!! The technician that was at my home (my sister was present for the appt) offered great solutions and even helped close the registers upstairs. Turns out that i had not done a good job of that. He took the time to make sure it was done properly. When I got home that evening, there was a much better feel downstairs and i can feel that my home is way more even. When i booked my appt we said that they could be there between 11-11:30. They ended up arriving to the house at 12:45pm. Their rep did call to apologize about the delay, as they were finishing up another job--which I can appreciate that they took the same care at my home. In fact just as I was calling their office to see what happened with the time and the rep was just calling at that same moment to say he was on his way. I really appreciate their service and I certainly will not hesitate to give them a call in the future. I will no longer to use Angie's List to find a HVAC Co. I have one! Thanks Williams!! Purchasing the Big Deal offer was worth wait and no one could be that service for $44.00. I shared the experience with my parents that live down the road and look forward to an awesome Thanksgiving

M.J. Robins Construction, Inc. sent a plumber out, he reset the Main Bedroom toilet and this took care of the problem. It was a lot cheaper and he did a very good job. M.J. Robins Construction, Inc., owner Mel Robins, (317) 578-1410, 6829 Hawthorn Park Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46220. They are Insurance Restoration Experts specializing in Fire, Water & Wind Restoration with 24/7 Emergency Service did the rest of the work. They fixed the garage ceiling and everything that the water from the toilet had ruined. It’s like it never happened. Mel Robins Company did a wonderful job and I would defiantly use them again and I would defiantly refer them to anyone that needs this kind of work done.
Description of Work: Mr. Plumber a subsidiary of Williams Comfort Air, you can check with Scott Lee (317-752-2129) or Frank Chaney (317-599-4328) in the office and you will find that the $99 refund was for the (Plumbing Maintenance Agreement for 1 year) and not for any of the work that was done 8/8/14. They didn't want to refund any of the money since they did work on the one toilet in the Master Bath. The Main Bath is the one I asked Molly to do first, I showed her where the leek was coming from in the garage ceiling. I even showed Molly where the MB had been repaired before and the ceiling hadn’t been painted and the leak wasn’t coming from that area. She choose to reset the Master Bathroom toilet and I had to pay for Larry Metzler’s daughter, (Molly), to reset the Master Bedroom toilet. She replaced a few parts while she had it apart but she said she didn't find anything wrong with the toilet or anything that needed to be repaired at this time. (She had just came back to work after being on sick leave for around 3 months). I asked Scott Lee to at least refund the $99 for the (Plumbing Maintenance Agreement for 1 year), I told them, that we won't be using them again.

The entire process was great. Made an appointment, salesman came to the house on a Saturday (on time) and discussed all options and what was best for our house/situation. Decided that day to go with them, and made an appointment for the installation. They installers were prompt, professional, and competed the work in less than 1 day, no extra trips required. It's been over a year since the install and no problems with anything. I highly recommend this company, the customer's interests are top priority to them.

I originally purchased two deals for furnace checkup - one for me, and one for my mom. I later learned that I could not use the deal for myself, since Williams Comfort Air has a rule that an Angies List member can only use such a deal once, and I already used it previously. As for my mom, she has a service contract with another company, so was not in need for the deal in the first place.

Very nice professional guy told me there were several problems with my about 18 yr old furnace and that he couldn't guarantee it would survive the winter. The main AC unit was 30 yrs old and working but for how long...the in law qtrs AC had a leak this past summer and the furnace wasn't working right. They had 2 crews do all 4 systems on one day to be least inconvenienced. All were very nice, cleaned everything up. The old humidifier wasn't fitting as hoped so they came back another day and fitted it similar to how it had been previously installed to work with the old furnace. They were definitely customer friendly. I've had too many contractors who I would never have back but Williams Comfort Air will get my call again if needed.
Description of Work: First with my Angies List special, I had the main furnace tuned up (I have 2 furnaces and 2 ACs due to the previous owners adding an in-laws quarters on to the house, which is my office now). Problems were found on the 18 yr old furnace. They sent out a sales person and because it wasn't too cold or too hot yet, they offered me a price for Off Season installation. Had 2 ACs and 2 furnaces installed plus thermostats and easy access filters.

I don't think it could have been any better. The service techs arrived right on time. He went through what they were going to do. They covered the floor, basement stairs and basement floor to keep things clean. Our old unit was 25 years old. There was a lot of rearranging duct work, piping etc. They also installed a new air conditioning system. We are so happy with the professionalism they provided. After the work was complete, they picked up all of the old units, loaded them to haul off. You can even tell they were here. Once everything was completed the tech went over all of the documentation, warranty docs, rebate advantages, etc. I was very impressed how hard this team worked. We had a one year service agreement with Williams Comfort Air. Our air conditioning went out on a Friday. They are supposed to come to check within 24 hours. They said we were not one of their preferred customers even though we had a receipt where we paid them over $200 for the service agreement. They put us off for 3 days causing us to go without air conditioning for 4 days. We went with another company to replace not only our air conditioning but our furnace, too.

Description of Work: Called May 1st for Maint for Air cond. They told me it would be 6 weeks before they could get here. The week it was scheduled they called and said they were overbooked and they could not come when promised. When they did come the following week, The part they replaced was $200.00 I ended up replacing the unit. I did get an estimate from them but decided to go with a smaller company. I called to make an inquiry about my Maintenance agreement. I was transferred to four different people. One person said she knew who could help me. Said she would e-mail that person. No one called back. I called back in 2 weeks. I spoke with the person in maintenance agreement. She was more interested convincing me she never got my message. So Iam out 189.00 maint agreement. $200.00. for the part. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. So much for using a big company with a good rating.
