Service Plus Heating Cooling Plumbing

During routine service, the service man found a problem with the heat exchanger. As it happened, the repair was covered by Bryant under a class action lawsuit settlement. Although Service Plus doesn't sell Bryant, and the 'deal' expired in 24 hours, they worked with us and jumped thru hoops to get it accomplished. Parts ordered, no charge for repairs (a savings to us of $1800!); waiting for repairs to happen, but since we don't need the furnace, this isn't a problem. Definitely a good provider!

It turned out great. The guy did a good job and was very professional.

It went well. They were very quick to get here in a time of need. Unfortunately, due to the requirements of where I live I wasn't able to hire them to do the work. But I would call on them again if I ever needed anything that didn't require them digging up my front yard.

I had the 1-5pm window but repairs earlier in the day took him longer than expected so he didn't arrive at my house until 6:45pm. I think he was professional in the service he provided and even answered some of my off the wall questions. The only negative I have is that he did try to sell me a couple of things that I did not inquire about (3 tuneup visits for a certain $ amount, a part that wasn't broken yet) but he wasn't overly pushy or aggressive in his sales pitch. I would use this company again for air conditioner/furnace tune up.

Ryan Phillips was the tech who did the install. Very polite and professional young man. I was given options for the installation which i liked very much. I was able to purchase the equipment separately and have it install by a professional. Great job!!!!!

Our AC quit working abruptly. Chris, the owner came out in a timely manner and assessed the situation. He gave me an easy to understand explanation of what was going on and then gave us three options for a fix. We chose to have a a new unit installed since the old one was 18 years old. The installation team was courteous, professional and neat. They made multiple trips in and out of the house and removed their booties when going outside as to not track dirt back in. Chris gave us a quote for one unit, but since that style was not available we got a nice upgrade for the same price (quite a perk!). The warranty is for 10 years! Practically unheard of in this business. I used Angie's list to locate Service Plus and am glad we went with them.

The technician was very punctual, polite, and thorough with the service. He gave his opinion on the state of the furnace in that it is good shape and has aged well. He did not try to push further sales on us other than providing information about other services that they do offer. The angies deal is highly recommended!

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the company but what happened was they sent out a technician who had just been fired. I don't think they realized that he had the job scheduled for me. So he came out and he performed the work but he ended up not doing it as effectively as he could have because he didn't care. But it was his suggestion for me to purchase the deal and I think he was trying to get back at his employee to say I didn't know about the deal but he's going to tell me about it so he's not going to pay as much to the company. It was complicated. The work was performed and I had to call them back for an adjustment because the disgruntled ex-employee wasn't really happy with them anymore. Because of the timing he found out right before he was suppose to come and perform the work at me house. He decided to keep the appointment but he shouldn't have. He came out close to the time of me purchasing the deal. There were no additional charges. The main problem with the work was that he didn't tighten the pieces he refurbished and my husband asked him about that he said "It could be loose but if it's too loose then you can call the company and have them send somebody out to fix it." So that's what we had to do because he didn't bother to tighten it and he knew what he was doing. There was no extra charge because they realized the situation.

The service turned out very well. Everything was good as they contacted me quickly and they came out quickly for the service. The service technician did a very good job.

I have a simple clogged drain and broken garbage disposal which I communicated clearly to the scheduler Tuesday morning. She gave me a 1pm to 5pm window for that day. At approximately 5:45pm I received my first call from the technician who explained he had spent longer in a basement than expected. Also, that he had used his last garbage disposal earlier and all he could do was come and unplug the sink. I told him I understood sometimes we don't know how the day will go and I asked him if he could just put us on first for the next day and do it all on one stop. He said it would have to be rescheduled the next day and the office was closed and he couldn't commit to anything. He also said he would be at his office first thing and would do his best to get me on the schedule. He said he would call to let me know. It is now after 10:15am and I have heard nothing. So, I have now called my third service provider and hope to have a useable sink by the end of the day.

The price was very reasonable and scheduling went perfectly. They were prompt and thorough and the technician was very knowledgeable and communicated well with me.

Curtis was very punctual and professional Previous providers had led me to believe that this was a special filter that only they could change. He explained that I could get a much less expensive filter at Menard's a;nd change it myself. He was very thorough in investigating the problem, but did not find unnecessary things for which to charge me. This was part of a Big Deal that I signed up for, and the company didn't have to honor it because of timing, but they did. I would highly recommend them and I am glad I have a service contract with them now.

Really well. Very responsive to come out and give an estimate, and really polite and nice to have at our house all day. We would definitely use them again.

The young man explained the procedure, the cost and time it would take to finish the job. He was correct on two things except the cost, It came under the estimate. He cleaned up and took extra trash with him. I have also used Service Plus for new a furnace install, A/C unit, a Hot Water Heater and now installation of a garbage disposal. I purchased a $49 Big Deal for water heater flush and full plumbing inspection, plus get an estimate for disconnecting old, unused water softener. Scheduling was easy and the young man arrived on time. He turned the spigot at the bottom of the water heater and let it drain for only a couple minutes, not even enough to cause the sump pump to discharge. He didn't turn off the power or check the emergency discharge lever or check any other plumbing in the house. $49 for turning a handle is ridiculous. As for the water softener disconnect, he got on his smart phone, pressed some buttons, and said $500. No explanation of what would be involved or what was required. In his defense, I think he was really distracted by personal issues that day since he said his house, barn, and car all burned down over the previous weekend which was Thanksgiving weekend. I don't think his mind was on work and I can't blame him. Still, I didn't like paying $49 for turning a handle. I've hired Service Plus a couple times before and the actual service seemed cursory so I don't think I will hire them again.

Two service technicians arrived. Stated I had a leak in my coil. Gave me the option of replacing the coil for $1,500 or simply refilling the system with refrigerant for up to $450(ish) depending on the amount required to fill. I opted to have the system recharged and hope it's a small enough leak to last through the summer. They only had 1 pound of refrigerant on their truck, so they had to leave and go procure some additional refrigerant. That took about an hour. Upon returning, they continued servicing the outdoor unit - filling/balancing the refrigerant. Total bill was about $235 plus the $99 credit brought my total cost of this service to around $335. I am hoping it will last through the summer and I won't have to charge again. Replacing the coil for $1,500 wasn't really feasible for me at this time. The reason they received a "B" for price: Considering they only had to add 3.5 lbs, it seems pretty high. $335/3.5lbs = ~$96/lbs. I realize they have to mark the cost of materials up to cover their overhead and expenses. But considering how much Puron costs (this is not Freon) - the mark up is crazy.

Chris was very professional and performed the maintenance on the AC. He explained what he was doing and went over the report before he left. He told me the motor/fan outside was going off and on before he cleaned the condenser unit. He was staying on when he left the house and advised me to keep an eye on it and to call him if it was going off/on again.

This company came to my home at my request (after seeing great ratings on Angie's) to try to determine why my drain suddenly was backing up into the house. Mine and my neighbor's sewers are connected out in the yard away from the house and dump into the city sewer. The technician ran a camera down the pipe, and vaguely described how, when he got to the Y in the pipe, how it hit solid and would not move. He suggested it had probably shifted in the cold weather and separated. He said he did not want to run his snake down the pipe because it might break it. So he instead quoted me a price of $4700 (rounded) to dig up the Y, replace it, and fill the hole back in and re-landscape. They showed up the following Friday, Jan 24, and began to dig out near the street--in my neighbor's property. They got down several feet and hit the clay pipe and broke it all out. They then had me flush my toilet. It at first came out trickling, but then a glob of something came out, and it ran freely into the hole they had dug. Again, this was downstream from the Y, so it should not have come out at all if it was indeed separated as they had stated. They asked my neighbor to do the same thing, and they did flush, but nothing came out. They had water standing in their crawl space about 6" deep, and had been having slow flushing for several weeks. The lady is elderly and did not know what to do about this. Nothing was said about the lack of flow from the neighbor. The workers proceeded to put in a piece of PVC patch pipe, and left for the day. The next day, Saturday, water again came gushing up out of my cleanout. I phoned them in a panic, and they said they would be there Monday. I insisted that they come right away. They came that afternoon and ran a snake down the pipe and my water then ran freely. On Monday they came back and filled in the hole. But also, the lady next door began having problems where her toilet would not flush at all. She asked me what I recommended, so I referred Service Plus to her. They came and quoted her the same price to dig up the "Y" and fix her drain. She got financing approved (her husband had recently passed away and she was in debt to a nursing home for hundreds of thousands of dollars, and felt lucky to get approved). They scheduled her for a few days later to begin work. He then communicated with me what he had told her and stated he had run the camera and found similar blockage. In the mean time, I found my cleanout cover popped off 2 or 3 times--indicating that water was backing up into my sewer line. A day after her quote and financing approval, her son came to my home and asked me all about the work I had done, and what the technician had done with the camera. I told him that the technician had told me about the camera run at his mothers home. He said that was impossible because she did not have a cleanout, and his mother had stated that the technician did not remove the stool to do this. So essentially he lied. The son contracted with another plumber who came and removed the stool, and ran a snake down the pipe. When he pulled the snake out, it was completely loaded with feminine products. he ran it a few more times, and was successful at opening the pipe so that the water flowed freely. The lady called off Service Plus. Neither of us has had drain problems since then. The lady next door confessed that her grand daughter, who had lived with her for several months, was probably to blame for the feminine products--having flushed nearly everything down the drain. Because of the Y in the pipe we both suffered the result of this. Service Plus did not diagnose my problem correctly, and now I am making payments for 3 years on a $4700 debt that probably did not need to be done. I am contemplating hiring a class action lawyer at this point, and seek out all homeowners to whom they have done this, and get compensated for this shady practice. I suspect there are many homeowners who would be happy to participate. Recently they sent a concrete contractor to look at replacing the two sidewalk slabs that they removed. The contractor was surprised that there was so much left in such disarray--saying "I'm not a landscaper or restorer, I just do concrete work, but a lot more is needed here than just concrete!" I am unhappy, and am disillusioned also by Angie's--having found it to be unreliable.

The service turned out very well. I ended up purchasing their annual tune up service and still use them to this day. They are very knowledgeable and courteous. They give me several options for the services I need. Scheduling with the company is very easy and they are always punctual.

Service Plus arrived a couple of hours earlier than expected on a Saturday morning. They were clean, professional, and willing to work on Saturday, which was a major help for me. The replaced the old air conditioning system, and were out of the way by early afternoon. Everything seems to be working fine again, and my home is cool. I would use Service Plus for this type of service again.

They were great and we were very happy with the service.

Technician arrived on time, was very professional and explained everything he was doing as he performed the service. He brought to my attention a few components that are in decline and will eventually need to be replaced. I purchased a Service Plus service plan that includes one each service for A/C, Heating and Plumbing for $99. This is cheaper than the combined cost for the last two maintenance service calls I had for my A/C and Heating. I have had Service Plus do maintenance on my equipment for several years now. I have been fortunate to have the same technician perform the maintenance so they are familiar with my systems and let me know proactive steps I can take to prevent problems. I definitely recommend Service Plus.

Great! He gave me a few alternative price options and then installed the battery back up sump pump that I decided on.
