A lot of spots near our house are not permit parking, and he could have parked there if there was any doubt. I also mentioned that when you park your car on a city street, it is the driver's responsibility to make sure he can park there legally. I again told him I was sorry that he had gotten a ticket, but that we didn't intend to pay for it. He was really incredibly rude, snapping at me and saying "I'm going to call Angie's List and I'll see you in court" and then hung up on me.
I understand it is frustrating to get parking tickets, but I find this reaction inexcusably rude and unprofessional. I would not be comfortable having this person in my house again.
"When I showed up to the owner's home, her significant other, was outside in the yard and saw me park the vehicle across the street from his property and he opened the gate for me in the front of the house as I approached it. In the house I asked him if had a flat head screwdriver to remove the sliding patio door screen and I advised him that if he did not that my vehicle was just parked across the street from their house. At no time did he offer me a temporary parking permit, even though this member advised me that they had a stack of them in the house during our conversation after the job was completed. I did not notice that this was a permit parking area as I was looking at my directions and the addresses to locate the house. I only noticed the signs after the officer placed the ticket on my vehicle. Upon speaking to the officer, he advised me it was the responsibility of the homeowner to provide me with a temporary parking permit if they are having work done on their house and I could not agree more. If a customer is having a contractor do work on their home, why would they not have a temporary parking permit ready for me when I got there for my scheduled appointment. The officer also suggested I add the $60.00 to their bill, which I could not as my services were prepaid for through Angie's List. Although this member prepaid for a coupon for up to 6 window and door screens, the member's significant other advised me in the house when I arrived that there was only 2 sliding patio doors to be rescreened and that the member was upset because she thought she lost money on the coupon deal since the other screens in the house were fine. Apparently, they did not check the screens before purchasing the coupon, and most likely why she gave me a B for price, which blows my mind since the coupon offer was 50% off of my normal pricing. I brought the ticket inside to him who said he would contact the member at work to see what she wanted to do about the ticket. I continued rescreening the sliding patio door screens and then came in to put them back on their tracks about 20 - 30 minutes later. When I advised him I was done, he made no mention that he ever contacted the member or that she said anything in regards to the ticket. I left their house and went to my car and contacted the member on her cell phone and asked her how she wanted to deal with the ticket, hoping she would offer to pay half or at least something towards it since they did not provide me with the temporary parking permit. She abruptly told me that people park on that street all the time and that it was not her significant other's responsibility to warn me. She then advised me it was my responsibility and that they had no intention of paying anything for the ticket, probably because she lost money on her coupon purchase for not checking her windows screens prior to purchasing the coupon. I advised this member that her decision was fine and that I would contact Angie's List and see in her court, at which point I hung up the phone to avoid any further altercation. Since then, the owner has satisfactorily met my demands and we will not be going to court."
Shane was personable, prompt and professional and I would definitely hire him again.
