 + -1 moreIt took them about an hour/hour and a half. They come when they say they will come, they don't have to come back and fix anything and they are on time. They are expensive, but they are good. I don't want to be the one fixing it.
Description of Work: They replaced the old sump pump in the basement. They put in the system originally. The batteries had gone bad and I wanted a new one and they had to work on the motor a bit too.

 + -1 moreOur air conditioning unit was hit by lightning about a year ago. Roby came out to install a new unit. During the installation, they mentioned that the pressure on our water was way too high. This can cause a lot more wear and tear on our plumbing. They suggested installing a water pressure control device which helped. They also said that there was a lot of sediment in our water heater and asked if we would like to have them replace it. We decided to have them install that too. They did an excellent job.
Description of Work: They installed a new air conditioner, a new water heater and installed a water pressure control device.

Rick did a great job, was very thorough and extremely helpful in sharing with us what he saw. We sincerely appreciate his help, and I will not hesitate calling them again as needed.
Description of Work: Rick repaired a leak in my kitchen faucet, and in the process discovered that the leak had caused significant damage to my cabinets, my hardwood flooring, and in the process had damaged my countertops. He noted mold growth and directed us on what needed to be done ASAP, including a referral to a remediation company.

I do understand that it was cold outside, but he was not very friendly to communicate with. Service man told me to wait till spring. However, when I've used them in the past everything was fine. This man was just not very friendly.

 + 1 moreI was very well pleased with the work performed and the product delivered. The only exception was when, after the installation work was completed, the thermostat control for my furnace and central air conditioner was non-functional. However, upon having the diagnostic work performed by another company to get the thermostat controls operational again, I was informed that a very tiny fuse installed on/in the furnace--which acts as some sort of trip wire when certain functions take place--burned out but that the plumber would not have known of this connection between the furnace and the water heater. So I do not hold Roby's plumbing work responsible for this failure although it did cost me another $88 to get the thermostat controls operational again.
Description of Work: (1) Roby's Plumbing provided me with a free estimate--in comparison to several others who charged for this service. So people should always ask about the "cost" of an estimate before making the appointment. (2) Roby's sales representative: Jim, did the installation work as well, although he had a helper part of the time. Jim came early in the day, at the time he said he would. The work was done efficiently and with no mess. All parts etc. from the previous installation, including the metal vent system (fairly new) installed by another company when they installed my furnace several years ago, were removed and the area left clean. Jim showed me how to start/stop/and restart the water heater. It is a 50-gallon Rheem gas power vent water heater with electric controls and no open parts so I am not afraid to start/stop the water heater as I was before. I purchased the 10-year warranty for the tank and parts which added $200 more to the price but I am looking at selling the house in 4-5 yrs and thought this would be better for transfer purposes. So far now I have been very pleased with both the work done and the performance of the water heater. I had done research on the Internet so feel fairly confident that this product rates high and, with Angie's List information on Roby's, had a great deal more confidence in procuring the work done than I would have had otherwise. Roby's price also was considerably less than the same exact estimate for the same product--10-year warranty included--that was given me by another company. I would recommend Roby's highly and give them an "A" in all categories.

 + -1 morePlumbing technician Dave Crocco called about 10 minutes before he arrived (on time), which was great because we were just getting out of bed and need those extra minutes to prepare. He examined the broken spigot in back and the leaking spigot in front. He informed us that our front spigot was as old as the house (30 years) and that it would have to be replaced instead of just repaired as a result. He had to go in the crawl space to perform some of the work and reported to us that it was nice and dry. He also figured out how to latch our crawl space door, which we thought was broken and had propped closed with a stick until we could have it fixed. He explained that the spigots should be installed so that the spout has a slight downward angle so water doesn't sit in the pipe and freeze. It turned out that our rear spigot had not been installed that way, which probably contributed to it freezing and breaking during the winter. Overall, he did a great job and was very informative and friendly.
Description of Work: Replaced outdoor spigots in front and back of house.
