Nanci Haber

In March 1998 I decided I wanted to buy a home, but had no clue at all how to do it.  One of my friends from work was a realtor and so was her mother, Nanci Haber.   She told me to call Nanci to help.

Nanci immediately told me to get pre-qualified and sent me to a mortgage broker who was a sweetheart.  It took a couple days to get qualified and then we started house hunting.

Nanci's daughter, my friend from work who also held a realtor's license, drove me around to look at houses.  I wanted to find a place between downtown and Broad Ripple, but I was only qualified for $110,000 and that did not leave a lot of options.   We looked at houses for almost six months.

Either the location was dicey or the house was a money pit.  It seemed there was nothing in my price range.  Then one day Nanci told her daughter to take me to the this house on Central Avenue that was a cosmetic unkept train wreck.   It was big, dirty, and priced $50,000 under comparable homes on the street.  It was in a sweet little part of south Meridian Kessler. 

Nanci talked me into buying it.  I was scared because I had always lived in an apartment and it seemed like there was so much to do that I would never make it look like my dream house.

Nanci did me the biggest favor of my life.  As it turns out 13 years later, the home is now renovated and went from worst house on the block to one of the best.  I get compliments on my home all the time and sometimes total strangers stop to tell me how gorgeous my home looks.

I always wanted a gorgeous historic house and a great neighborhood.  And I got just that thanks to the wisdom of my realtor.
