 + -1 moreOf the three companies I called, this was the only one that could come out the same day. The plumber was prompt, worked systematically, and efficiently. He explained every step of the process, which I appreciated. I thought the price was very fair; once the Angie's list coupon was subtracted, the price became extremely good. The plumber did, however, leave an additional stain on my carpet, I suppose from placing his folder on my wet carpet.
Description of Work: After discovering water in our basement, we called Metzler Plumbing to diagnose the problem. The plumber systematically went about diagnosing the source of the water with as little intrusion as possible (holes in the wall.)

 + -1 moreThe plumbers showed up almost two hours late to give me an estimate on the work. I called when they were 45 minutes late, and the dispatcher said, ''Oh yeah, he left here late this morning.'' No one had bothered to call me. At about the hour and a half late, someone left a message on my voice mail that they couldn't find our house. I had emailed complete directions the night before! The message asked me to call back, but he didn't give a number!! I called dispatch again and we got that straightened out. He finally showed up two hours late. There were actually two men that came for the estimate. They were both polite. After looking at all items that needed fixing, they went to the truck to write an estimate and said they'd be back in when the estimate was ready. It took him 30 minutes to write up an estimate that should have taken no more than 10 minutes. The estimate was one third higher than the other estimates we received.
Description of Work: We got an estimate and decided not to use this company to do the work.

He knew exactly what he was doing unlike some of the other younger plumbers I have had in the house and didn't mind working on an older sink. He was curteous and finished his work quickly with no mess left.
Description of Work: They reapired the old fixtures on my bathroom sink to stop the dripping. I did not have to buy a new sink and was able to keep the sink that came with the 1939 house.

 + -1 moreThey came and did the work on a Fri., but afterwards, one of the pumps made a bad grinding noise. I called them back again on Mon. They came, jiggled the pump which then refused to make any noise. I paid $30 for the 2nd call and 4 hours after they left the pump was back to making the grinding noise. I don't want to spend another $30 to look like a fool but I don't like the sound of that noise! For $1700 I should not be hearing anything!

 + -1 moreBrandon was extremely thorough, arrived early and was very professional. He explained all the tests he was doing and what else we could do if we found anything. Very reasonable for the hour and the effort he put to searching out our odor.
Description of Work: We called Metzler to help us find the source of a ''sewer gas'' smell. Brandon Johnson checked all over, ran all the faucets, showers, toilets, and washer to check for leaks. He went under the crawl space and watched for extra leaks. He finally concluded that it was a dried out trap in the basement drain, so no other repairs were necessary.

 + 0 moreI called and someone was sent within 4 hours. The plumber arrived on time. He was very friendly. I had also asked for an estimate on another job and some advise on yet another issue. The plumber was honest and frank, and did not try to pressure me into additional work. He offered tips on things we could take care of on our own. I would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: Kitchen sink was badly clogged; leaking pipe. Drained cleaned, gasket replaced.

 + -1 moreThe pump is old and the tech came out said it would be $225 to prime the pump. They would have to unscrew a cap and pour water in it but he could not confirm that was the problem. I did not end up using their services. I think he was used to working on newer pumps. He charged me $90 to come out to do nothing.

 + -1 moreMr. Metzler was able to work us in to the schedule even on a day when most of his guys were at an educational event. Service was prompt. The job required a second trips to get some parts. I had to request a canvas tarp to protect the old tile floor. A month later, I called unhappy with a couple of aesthetic issues. A week later, a third trip was made to correct them at no charge. I am satisfied with the end results now.
Description of Work: Replaced plumbing from the drain to the wall on a bathroom pedestal sink. The fitting in the wall was also replaced.

 + -1 moreI paid $90 and still have a dripping faucet. HOWEVER, the drip is much, much slower now, and I know who I will call when I am financially ready to renovate my whole shower. I felt very comfortable and safe with Dustin in my home, and I really appreciate the way he went above and beyond to try to fix the problem for me. He didn't charge me for the time he spent researching various possible solutions, nor for the second visit. He didn't try to pressure me into having work done that I couldn't afford and that could wait a bit. He was a sweetie, and very professional.
Description of Work: The faucet in my shower was dripping very badly. When Dustin opened it up, he was surprised by the unusual ''stem'' that was inside. Dustin put in a new stem that he had with him, and waited several minutes to make sure that the problem was solved. It was not. Then he went to several plumbing supply places, and consulted with his boss, only to find out that the company that made my original stem no longer makes that exact kind any more. Dustin had some other low-cost ideas for what to try, but they didn't pan out either. After I save up some more money, I will need to have some major plumbing work done. In the meantime, Dustin installed a new stem that does the job pretty well, and I have a better idea of what I need.

Description of Work: Troubleshooting a problem with inconsistent water pressure and recycling of the well pump. Diagnosed the problem as a defective pressure tank. Given the options of cleaning & recalibrating the pressure tank or replacement of the pressure tank, pressure gauge and pump switch. Opted to replace the tank, gauge & switch due to the age of the system (20 years)

 + -1 moreMy experience was excellent! He did not charge me for unneeded services, but he thoroughly examined the problem to be sure that it was okay. He as on time, friendly and even let me use his wet dry vac to clean up some water spillage that resulted from the clogged pipe. The $30 charge to come visit was the lowest I could find.
Description of Work: Visited house to investigate a clogged pipe. By the time he arrived, clog had worked itself out. He ran water for about 30 minutes to make sure clog was clear, but performed no work b/c he said it was not needed. I purchased a product used to clear pipes for $50. Total charge was $80 -- $30 for visit, plus $50 for the product.

 + -1 moreThe blockage occurred on a Sunday, I found Metzler on the list and called the emergency number, Mr. Metzler was prompt on returning my call, and had his emergency plumber call us back. Brandon arrived about 30 minutes later, was great at explaining what he was doing and why. He made sure that everything was clear before he left. We now have a plumber.
Description of Work: Cleared mainline blockage through outside clean-out drain. Appeared to be an isolated blockage per Brandon Johnson (the Plumber)

Unfortunately he didn't have a replacement sump pump on his truck (despite knowing the pump needed replacing), so he had to go back to the shop and get a new pump to install. Also, before the work he quoted a figure $100 cheaper than the actual cost, but he did offer to honor the lower cost. He charged $130 to replace a check valve, which I thought was excessive. Also had him estimate the replacement of a spigot, which I declined due to the price (over $300).
