 + -1 moreA very thorough and professional company to work with. Responded promptly to all questions and felt they were honest in all aspects of work. They were not the cheapest plumbers, but they do quality work and have a 10-year guarantee. They were careful in the demolition part of the old shower to do minimum damage to drywall and surrounding floor, so that the follow up finish work was not too difficult. Dave Wilson worked at the job diligently once he arrived, but was 2 hours late each time. He did call both times to say he was running late.
Description of Work: They demolished an existing shower unit. It was leaking through the floor below caused by a cracked shower floor, previous poor installation (from another company/previous owner), and lack of stable floor bed underneath shower floor. They repaired the floor, set in new unit, new shower head, and handle. Then reset the toilet that had to be removed because of the work.

 + 0 moreThe job turned out to be more than the original estimate - but they had warned me when they did the estimate that due to the age of the house that might be the case. Even with the cost of the additional work, it was still less than the other estimates. There have been a couple of heavy rains since and the backflow valve worked great. No more sewer overflow in my basement. They were very good about scheduling and keeping appointments. They very also very good about explaining what they were doing and how everything worked.
Description of Work: Installed a back-flow preventer valve in the main sanitary drain pipe to prevent sewer overflow during heavy rains. Also replaced floor drain. Used camera to inspect drainline from house to main sewer line. Had to tear-up concrete floor to access the drain line. The house is over 80 years old. The existing drain was rotten in places. They tore up the floor until they could make a good connection to the existing iron drain pipe with the new plastic drain pipe. They stuck with the job until successful and hooked up the new drain line the same day so that I did not have to go without water and sewer overnight. They arranged to return a few days later to replace the part of the basement floor that was removed.

 + 0 moreWe initally contracted with another plumber which we have used several times in the past few years to add a gas line for a cooktop. That plumber failed to show at the scheduled time and so we called Hallum for the same work. Rick, who came for the estimate, showed us an alternative for the hookup that the other plumber failed to note. The alternative saved us $ 200. Since the plumbing work would be done in the furnace room by the water heater, I asked Rick about replacing that unit as well which was 7 years old. He included that work in the estimate at my request. We accepted the work order from Hallum who showed up when scheduled to do the work. Rick and his partner were courteous, efficient and thorough. We are extremely pleased with the results and will use Hallum for any future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Install a new water heater and a flexible new gas line to a range top, changing the existing cooktop from electirc to gas.

Description of Work: Sump pump pipe joint came separated and was spraying water. RV Hallam came quickly and fixed the problem. It was suggested we replace additional piping due to poor construction by builder, we declined. Unfortunately another piece of the same pipe was loosened during the repair and began leaking late that same night. (Probably should have done the suggested replacement!!) RV Hallam's on call person was at our house at midnight making the quick repair at no additional charge. We would use their services again. They do good work and stand behind it.

 + -1 moreThe serviceman was pleasant and he did tell me in advance what the price would be. Call me stupid for paying the price. However, I was in a bind and needed the work completed so I paid the price.
Description of Work: The repair man came to my house and installed a new garbage disposal that I had purchased in advance. The cost of the labor was $380 with a $30 fee to come to the house. I believe that $410 to install a $59 garbage disposal is very excessive. It took less than an hour to do the job. The repairman told me that plumbers charge by the job and not by the hour. If that is the case and the service fees are that high I will encourage my grandson to become a plumber instead of a physician! I will never use Metzler Plumbing again based on price alone!

Did not receive estimate for months and then it incorrectly reflected job scope. Requested corrected estimate, which has never been received. Have done business with Metzler for years.  + -1 moreHe began by saying that there could be other leaks too. He said he would give me $60 to cut out the wall so he could get to it. I asked about the $25 Angie's List discount and the senior's discount, and he said he'd give me both of those. I watched him put the pipe on and that was all done. He went downstairs and said I had another leak. He said it could be the shower thing. He put a part back together and the leak stopped. He caulked, and said it would be $96 for that. He didn't tell me until the end and brought in the bill, and charged me $96 for the part in the front. I thought that was very steep. He didn't tell me the whole price at the beginning and added costs in. I didn't think it was right. I felt that I was scammed. He didn't clean up any of the wall that had to be cut out.
Description of Work: I had a leak coming from my upstairs bathroom.

I had an emergency when the irrigation system froze and it was spraying the entire east side of my home. They were out within 10 minutes to shut the water off. I recently had them out to pull a toilet and figure out why it was leaking. He was thorough in figuring out the problem, quoted me $125.00 to do the work and then fixed the problem. I would definitely hire again!
