I had been attempting to refinance my home through the existing mortgage holder beginning July 2013. There are too many details to include here as to why the refinance was not going smoothly. I should have gone to Angie's List much sooner than I did. I read reviews on mortgage companies and even called a few. Upon calling MJW Financial I had the immediate feeling of being treated as a valued customer and not just another number passing through a revolving door. They were patient with my questions and although they exerted no pressure whatsoever for me to do business with them, I was so impressed with their professionalism that I decided to do so. My wife and I dealt with Michael and Corinne to secure a mortgage for new construction. We negotiated an exceptional rate and competitive fees (I'm a discriminating consumer, an INAMB member [2005], an accountant, and I cross shopped strategically). I honestly felt apprehensive for the first week or so of our dealings, since our locked rate with MJW approached what were some of the most attractive rates I'd seen online through bankrate.com and the likes...rates I failed to believe were legitimate, but if so did not inspire confidence that we'd get much personal attention or a timely closing. And I have no interest in gambling. A couple of days after first speaking with Michael, he called me to let me know our rate would increase the following day if we did not lock right away. I had been following the MBS market in real time that day, so I was confident he wasn't blowing smoke. I also received my last competitive quote that morning, and so we decided to lock in with MJW that night. All told, my wife and I were pleased with every facet of our communications during a month of continuous contact. We were able to share all of our documents electronically without ever having a face-to-face (a welcome, if necessary, convenience for us). My experience with the limited contact I had with this company was wonderful. I had called about refinancing my home. They took the preliminary information and called me back very promptly. After some discussion it was clear that this was not the right time for us to do the refinance. Everything was explained in detail and done very professionally. I will use this company when we are ready to refinance.

Michael was great. I got his name off of Angie's list, Called him, and was preapproved for mortgage within about an hour. I was going to look at a house later that evening that I thought I might want to make an offer on. I did make the offer and my preapproval letter helped seal the deal. My credit was a little shaky after a recent divorce, but I think I got a great interest rate without paying any points. There were multiple offers on the home I purchased, so it was essential that I close on time. Everything went without a hitch. Easiest mortgage I've ever done. I honestly can't remember at this time how much I paid for Michael's services, but I know it was not much. My ex-husband got his mortgage through PNC and he had nothing but trouble. He wishes he had used MJW financial as well.

Everything went extremely smooth from start to finish. Mike worked with me for months before we decided it would be a good time to buy. We originally started about 8 months ago, but we were not in the best position to purchase the home that we wanted. Mike talked me into waiting about 6 months and coached me through some of the things I could improve on before preapproval. Mike is awesome! I came into this process thinking I could refinance and get cash back. He explained my options and why that probably would not be the best bet for me in our situation. He explained what he could do in very plain English. He didn't use any industry jargon to try and confuse you. He provides you with your options and lets you make your own choice. Mike was able to save me $200 a month off of my mortgage. He even sent the title people to my job during my lunch break so I didn't have to drive back to his office to fill out the final pieces of paperwork. I think this point says volumes about MJW's integrity. I asked Mike for some financial planning information as well and he told that is not his specialty, but he was nice enough to recommend someone that can help me with that too. Mike is the person to go to if you are looking for someone that will give you your options in plain English, then allow you to make an informed choice about what works best for your situation.

I contacted MJW Financial and David Powell in Oct.1912 about refinancing our mortgage based on Angies List recommendations.After describing my situation and what I desired from the refinance we discussed current rates and costs and agreed to speak again.In subsequent conversations rates took a slight uptick and we waited.On 10/23/12 I agreed to go forward after getting to the rate desired.We locked the rate for 60days.The mortgage was submitted to Stonegate Mortgage Corporation and approved with closing scheduled for 11/29/12.The loan closed with no complications.David Powell directed this transaction from start to finish in a very smooth and professional manner.I would highly recommend David to anyone.

I found Michael Wampler on Angie's List and chose him because he had an A rating which he definitely lived up to. First of all, he was kind and respectful, next he was always "Johnny on the spot" getting the process started right away, keeping the paper process going and always being there with an answer whenever I had a question. I am very pleased with the service provided by MJW Financial LLC. I'd been considering a mortgage refinance for quite some time. I found MJW Financial on Angie's List, called them and was immediately connected with the owner MIchael. Michael walked me through all of my re-finance options, taking the time to ensure I understood everything. Once I'd made a decision on type of loan I wanted, Michael promptly provided me the loan applications, papework, etc.... and worked with me very closly to ensure I submitted all the necessary paperwork. He kept me updated every step of the way, through the loan approval process, the appraisal and the closing process I had no surprises at closing becuase Michael took the time to clearly explain all the details to me ahead of time. . Bottom line is Michael was able to cut 2.75% off my interest rate and take me from 26 years to 15 years, with a payment that was less than $100 more per month than what I was currently paying. Michael was very professional and responsive. It was by far the smoothest finance/refinance we have ever done. I had called around and they offered the best interest rate and lowest closing costs I could find. The person who closed our loan at the Title Company remarked that the interest rate was the best she had seen. Everytime I sent Michael an e-mail with questions or information he would reply very quickly and seemed very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend him and use him again.

With interest rates being low and having a break from work between Christmas and New Year?s of 2011, we decided to focus on: 1) whether it was worthwhile to refinance our current home mortgage, and 2) if refinancing was worthwhile, find a loan provider that could provide the best terms. After analyzing the numbers particular to our situation, we determined it would be to our advantage if we could refinance at or below a certain interest rate with a certain cap on closing costs. Starting with Angie?s List, I compiled a list of well-rated mortgage providers to contact. To that list I added mortgage providers that were listed in the phone book (yes, I found an actual hardcopy of a phone book), mortgage providers that advertise those very low rates on the internet and our own mortgage provider. This list of mortgage providers included a mix of local mortgage brokers, local and national banks, credit unions and internet sites that provide quotes from several mortgage providers. Armed with this list providers (eventually twenty-two in all) and a brief set of questions so that I could objectively compare quotes, I started making calls the day after Christmas, Monday, 12/26. Of all the calls I made that day, the only one who was in his office and took the time to respond to my inquiry for a refinance was Mike Wampler of MJW Financial. I realize the 26th is the day after a major holiday and that it shouldn?t be surprising that most brokers weren?t in their offices (afterall I wasn?t!), but it made an impression on me the Mr. Wampler was in his office that day and open for business when the rest of the competition wasn?t. Over the course of the next several days I managed to contact and obtain quotes from fourteen of the twenty-two mortgage providers that were on my list. I think a few of these brokers were taking the entire week off between Christmas and New Years. As an aside, I?d like to emphasize it really pays to shop around. Some of the providers that I called would quote rates a point and a quarter greater than the prevailing rates , when considered with the terms in which we were interested. After encountering a few of these brokers, I got the impression that this was their approach to selling loans. They would quote a high rate and chuck in some high closing costs. If you didn?t shop around and took the bait, great for them. If you did shop around and didn?t take their offer, no big deal, their phone will ring again in the next five minutes and they can make the same unfavorable offer to the next person. These guys seemed to have their offer down, and while not the best deal to be had by the consumer, at least they stuck to their story. One provider I contacted however, couldn?t keep his offer straight. The rates and closing costs he quoted kept changing wildly over the course of the phone call. Finally, I got the impression that if you just came to his office, he would draw up the rate and closing costs he thought best and all you needed to do is sign the papers! Anyway, after a couple of days of discussing a refinance with the 14 out of 22 providers that responded, it came down to two very good offers, with the best overall offer coming from Mike Wampler of MJW Financial. I say ?overall?, because I feel there?s more to obtaining a mortgage than rate, loan term and closing costs. There?s the consideration that the broker you are working with is competent and experienced enough to know what he or she is doing to produce a successful mortgage without surprises, and honest and responsible enough to deliver on what was agreed. Mike Wampler of MJW Financial, not only provided the best loan terms for the refinance of our home mortgage, but he also held true to his word on the terms to which we agreed. The time to closing from our very first phone call was less than a month. And the closing terms were exactly what Mr. Wampler said they would be - no last minute closing 'surprises'. All throughout the process, Mr. Wampler was quick to respond to my numerous inquiries and concerns, either via email or phone calls. In addressing my inquiries and concerns he was professional, calm, patient and reassuring. When the time comes again to seek out another home loan, MJW Financial will be the first that I?ll call. But of course, I?ll always shop around! As an aside, if and how to refinance a home mortgage isn?t always obvious. Its simply not a matter of using the popular ?1%? rule; that is, if your current rate is greater than 1% or more of the prevailing rate, you should go ahead and refinance. You need to understand where you are in time in your current mortgage, figure out how much of your current payments are going to principal, and compare that to the amount of principal you will be accruing when you start over with a new loan. Additionally, you also need to compare the difference in the number of payments between when your current loan and the prospective loan will be paid off, and consider this difference in the context of how long you most likely will remain in this house. Finally, you need to factor in closing costs. While a couple of thousand dollars may lower your interest rate a few eighths of a point and make you feel good, the deal might not be nearly as good as taking a ?no closing cost? loan at the prevailing interest rate. All of these questions can be easily answered with a good spreadsheet and asking common sense questions - as I found out.

We thought it went great. Michael was there with us every step of the way. Even helped us by offering different ideas to get a lower mortgage rate. Walked us through the different options between VA loans and conventional loans. He was there at the closing and had very good input. Overall it was very easy dealing with Michael as he seemed to know what we wanted.
