I called them they came out that day, measured for the door. They had to order it. They installed it, took an hour. They were kind, nice, efficient. I could not have asked for better service. The door even looks great.

My experience went very well. The staff was professional and knowledgeable in their field. The pricing was very reasonable. I would recommend this company to others.

I didn't really have any issues with the installation. The problem is now the door is rusting. It did not survive the first winter. Based on the notes that they put down when they first came out, they tried to make it seem like it was just a scratch at the bottom of the door. The paint they put on it doesn't stay. There must be something wrong with the finish. The rust has spread across the whole bottom of the door. It's crackly and bubbly looking.

"The member called in complaining about rust coming up on her door at the bottom of the door. The member purchased a door from us in May of 2009. We carry a 30 day service warranty on our doors and a one year limited warranty on the door and door hardware. The member has a copy of the warranty as well as a care sheet we left with her on how to care for and maintain steel doors. The member's complaint is part of normal maintenance needed to maintain an outside steel door. If rust starts to occur you touch it up. Waxing the door twice a year is also recommended to maintain the door. Steel doors will rust and if this happens you simply touch it up. This is in the care sheet as well. The finish on the door is not defective. It is completely unreasonable for the member to ask for a new door or refund. Steel doors need maintenance and how much depends on how exposed it is to the outside elements. Rain, snow, ice all has a bearing on steel. We recommend in our care sheet to wax the door twice a year and if rust starts to occur touch it up right away so it doesn’t spread further. The member's warranty is out her door is almost two years old and her problem is a maintenance problem and not defective. Thank you for your time in this matter. Sincerely, Connie Hawkins, co-owner."

I always had to call them after they received the deposit. The door was finally installed May 22nd. They always had excuses as to the delay. I tried to give them the benefit of a doubt. After they left I noticed a ring was missing off of the table near the door- this was only a cubic zirconium but the installer shouldn't have taken it. He must've handed to his daughter while they were doing the drilling. She (his daughter) was quite insistant on bringing our extension cord back in. They also had to wait on a part from the estimator -so that held up things. (one of us should have been on the inside with the man) we have learned the hard way. I know the installer will deny it - he and his daughter have to live with themselves. They know what they did. When the door was nine months old we started noticing it was rusting. We did not contact the company because of their previous treatment of us. We felt they would say - they "can't control the door rusting" or some other excuse. Upon looking up their rating today - noticed they have really bottomed out. So the Angie's List members who have good experiences and non-rusty doors should count themselves lucky. I (the wife) do not recommend this company for work. My husband had replaced any old wood prior to install and recaulked the awning and other areas after the installation and we still have plenty of condensation problems with some leaking. Our old aluminum door did not have that much of a problem. Imagine that. I hope by submitting this I do not receive any retaliation from the installer and his daughter. I have been so angry it has taken me a year to calm down over the whole door issue.

"I just read this review. I assume you thought it was a general contractor that installed your door and that is why you would make such a shameful, false accusation. It was my father and I that installed the door. My father was the owner at the time. We have been family owned and operated since 1977 and have no reason to steal from anyone. At the time of the door installation, [member name removed] was there watching the whole time and signed the job satisfactory/ completion. Although I find your comments offensive, I do hope that you found your ring. I also hope that in the future you will refrain from making slanderous accusations."

I contacted a couple of companies and this company offered the best price for the type of security door that I wanted. We picked out the doors we wanted. I placed 1/3 deposit to start the process, and they called to set up an appointment to install the doors. They sent someone out to measure the space for ordering the doors. My house was built in the 1950's and probably didn't have standardized door sizes when the house was built. My husband and I were very happy with the final product. They had a checklist including checking the door closer for adjustment, the deadbolt lock, the doorbell, proper fit of the glass, etc. They cleaned the doors, and cleaned up the areas. We were thrilled about the quality of the work for the price. Another company we interviewed wanted to charge $1300 for installing one door. We love being the first one to put this company on Angies List.

Generally the experience was quite good. They had a very useful brochure that explained design options and were very patient in talking to me about the cost of different options. I neglected to look over the paperwork when I ordered the door and when I hadn't heard for a while, realized they had the wrong number for me so I called and corrected it. But basically their estimate of how long it would take to make the door was on the mark. I appreciated that their store was open on the weekend and their installer worked Saturdays. A larger glitch was that when the installer came with the door; it turned out that he had been given an incorrect piece and he had to go back to the office to get it. (Through no fault of his own, due to an event downtown, it took a long time for him to return). If I had ordered only the door and had arranged for a handyman to install it, the incorrect piece would have been a major inconvenience since it might have taken the handyman a while to realize the error.

They are the most reasonably priced wrought iron door company I could find in the Angie's List Publication and phone book. The installers were polite, courteous, and efficient. I am pleased with my door. I bought doors from them back in the '90s. I would call them tomorrow, if needed, without hesitation.

I have only had these doors for two years and they have started to rust. It is only in a few spots, but the last doors that I had, the finish on them lasted over twenty years. I haven't called the company, but I just wanted to let people know that the finish might not last as long as you expect it to.

After all of this I noticed the door is pitted and rusted. I called and they were to call back and someone was to come out to re-evaluated. I never heard back. I called again and was told I need to call back again in the morning to find out the outcome. I then had to let them know what the call was. They then informed me that it was the quality if the door and there was nothing they can for to fix it. 'Steel doors are going to rust' was the only explanation I was given. This is only 6 months old. The door and window leaks badly and now its rusted on top of the other issues. It appears to me they are not standing behind their services and I would strongly discourage anyone form using this service.

"Customer's service warranty is out, our limited 1 year warranty does not include labor or service calls. Customer purchased 1 steel security storm door on 8/21/07 in the amount of $437.34 not $800. It took us a month to get order done because we made three trips out at specified times we made with customer and she wasn't home. She neglected to even call us and we made three extra trips out because of this. We have three signatures to customer satisfaction. We carry a 30 day service warranty."

Requested quotes from several vendors for security doors and window guards for all 1st level windows and doors on duplex units. Initial price from Markin's was $3166 and staff was very helpful. Reviewed their product and contracted to get the work done. Estimated delivery 2-3 weeks. When the doors and window guards were ready, I was still waiting on storm/screen combos to be put on windows so requested Markins just install the doors and hold the window guards. Markins installed the security doors in 2 days and even did additional door frame work on the back doors. When the storm/screens were done, Markins installed the window guards. Somehow, they only had ordered enough window guards for one unit. The window guards for the second unit had to be ordered at additional cost and another 2-3 weeks. They got them installed, but I'd recommend double checking they quote and order the right amount in the beginning. Staff is friendly though. Quality of product is good.

They made the doors to order after sending their person to measure and photograph each door or window. Everything fit well except the sidelight panel, which they took back and modified. The doors were ready just a little later than they expected. The installer put in everything but the one sidelight in one day and came back to install the modified sidelight in a few days. The doors look great and work very smoothly.
