Larry Shoffner Independant Construction

When I have used him I have been pleased. Usually when you call him he can come immediately and give you an estimate. Then you give him a check for the amount of money he thinks it will be to do the repair. He then goes and buys all the supplies and what he needs. Then he comes back and does the repair for you. That is how he operates. People say "do not ever give money up front." But that is the way he works. I got his name from Angie's List. He has always been honest with me. I might be calling him soon for a siding repair job. The last job he completed for me I gave him a check and he said he would be back in a few hours to complete the work. Before I knew it I looked up and my gate was repaired and he was gone! He did a nice job. He has always done nice work for me. He has never left a mess behind. Whenever I have called him he has always been able to come out very quickly. The only thing that makes me uncomfortable is to give him money up front and then wait for him to come back and do the work. He has always been honest with me. He knows I got his name off Angie's List. He asks me to write a review about him after he is done. I will always be honest with him if he is honest with me. I tell people how he operates and that I have always been pleased with him. But it may be different for someone else. They may not be comfortable to pay up front.

Larry was punctual and cheerful. All jobs were completed perfectly. He even coated all new replacement wood with primer so that the wood would be protected and ready for painting. Every job on the list looks great. Larry really knows his craft. Our garage looks wonderful. If I had known it could be done so well and so quickly, I would have had this done a long time ago. The shutter out front looks sharp. Plus, we now have cable TV in our kitchen.

Work went very well on both porches. The removal of the concrete porch was most impressive; the replacement most pleasing. He also attached the vent to my dryer. Attitude of Larry and his helper was great.

It went well. I was pleased with his work. He was there when he said he would be. He explained what he was going to do, and then he did it.

He did a good job. His work was good.

Punctual, reasonably priced, and good worker. Enough said. Would use again.

It went excellently and his prices were reasonable. He was timely and did what he said he would do as well. He repaired one area to make it look better.

He knew exactly what to do to repair the barn. He was punctual in coming out for the estimate. He had to increase the estimate because more damage was there than we had originally thought. He did an excellent job and he saved our barn. He used his own equipment and cleaned up well. It seemed that he had good carpentry knowledge.

Very good job. Larry showed up when he said he would, did the work quickly and efficiently, and overall did a good job. He negotiated fairly on a change in scope to the work.

He was superb! His price was fair, and his work was excellent! I was very pleased with his service and will be talking with him about future projects. He had a lot of special machinery and gizmos on hand for my projects. I was impressed with his level of professionalism.

Overall I found Larry very easy to work with. He was very prompt with his proposal, and very available to discuss the work being done. I was well informed of progress and costs . His crew was pleasant--no loud music, trash, etc. The work area was cleaned up at the end of each day, and I was told what to expect on the following day. Upon completion, my home and yard were left in excellent condition. NO NAILS!

The impressive part for us was Larry's punctuality. He said 10:00 a.m. for the opinion and estimate appointment and he drove in the driveway at precisely 10:00 a.m. He said he would be back the next day to do the work between 9:30-10:00 a.m. and he was here by 10:00 a.m. The entire job took approximately an hour and a half. He pre-painted the faceplates the night before. He brought in an hydraulic jack with a temporary column to stabilize the porch while he did the repair work. He cleaned up the work site of sawdust and other debris. We did not have to do any clean-up ourselves. We did not get another estimate so I can't compare the price with other carpenters.

It was a horrible experience. We picked him from Angie's List because he had a good reputation. The job was harder and more detailed than he had expected. He ordered the wood. All of the installation of the wood was done incorrectly. The balasters were installed improperly. We had to take everything down and do it ourselves. We didn't realize until the end of the job, what he had done. The more we investigated, the more we realized we could not accept the way he had did it. We did not want him to come back because of his poor quality. We asked for our money back, but he would not do that for us. We had some of the original wood he started with so we could fix it ourselves. That was our compentsation.

Larry is professional, punctual and returns phone calls. When he came out to give us an estimate, I felt I could trust what he said needed to be done really needed to done. During other estimates we received, I thought we were being sold more that what needed to be done.

He did a great job. The process went well. He was quick. The quality of work was good. They showed up when they said they would. They cleaned up daily. He was very informative and explained what had been done and what work needed to be done.

Larry spent 3 1/2 hours working on our front door. Due to neglect from the previous owners, the door was badly warped and we could hardly open and close it because it wasn't hanging properly. He was always on time, courteous, cleaned up after himself, and I thought for the amount of time he spent on the job and the quality of his work the price was fair.

Larry was courteous, professional, and dependable. He did the job when and in the amount of time he said he would. Very pleased overall.

Larry did good work and we were pleased.

I will not be calling on him again.

We have used Mr. Shoffner in past. He has always been very responsive and does quality work. He has a lot of home building experience. On this occasion he came promptly. Finished all the work in a timely fashion.

He did a good job and I am very satisfied with the work. One day he did not show up, but it was because he had mis-scheduled it and came out as soon as he could. He was very apologetic and professional. I would use him again.

Great. Larry is thorough and talented. Finished in 2 hours and I highly recommend him.
