Description of Work: Larry fixed the sub-floor in our game room. I don't recall all of the appropriate names for the pieces/parts--however, the general issue was that problems with the exterior brick had allowed water in and over time, this caused the sub-floor to separate from the wall. Larry came within a day I believe to do an estimate and then did the work the next week as promised. He worked quickly and seemed very knowledgable. This was an unusual problem, which required supporting the floor with jacks while the repair was completed. He was very careful with this aspect of the work, as if done incorrectly, it could cause numerous other problems. The work area was left clean and he even tacked up some of the insulation in our crawl space. This was most appreciated as we are unable to get in this area of our home. I would use Larry again if I needed a repair within his areas of expertise and recommend him highly.

Description of Work: We've used Larry for repair work several times and he has always done a great job. This time he did repair work on a soffit and roof board over our front porch which had rotted out. He and an assistant worked for parts of two days, cutting the lumber, priming, and installing. When, a few days later during a thaw, there was a drip which came right in the middle of our top step he came out in a matter of a couple hours and did some caulking and we have had no further trouble. I should advise those who consider using Larry that he asks for the entire amount of money before he does the work. If I remember correctly, it used to be half down and half upon completion of the work. I suspect he has had too many experiences of people being either slow pay or issuing worthless checks. I've also found out he wants local checks which will clear more quickly than out of town checks. I use an out of town bank from where we used to live and I know he would prefer a local bank where he will know that the money is good without a longer wait. I guess one could also used a credit or debit card but we've never done that. He's very old-fashioned in that his word is good. I imagine he would, if asked, but prefers not to issue written estimates. That might make some folks nervous but he has never let us down. He reminds me of the people that used to do work for my Dad and Mother in the town of 1,700 inhabitants when I was growing up. There, if you didn't keep your promises the word would get around pretty quickly and you wouldn't have much future as a carpenter or any other service person for that matter.

Description of Work: Larry has done work for us quite a few times now, and every time was a great experience with jobs well done. When Larry did our roof, he suggested taking out the dormers and using different ventilation. This was an excellent choice. It made the house look so much better, and the heating/ cooling efficiency was much greater. Our roof was the positive talk of neighbors, and as a result, at least two of our neighbors hired him.

THEY SHOWED UP EVERY DAY PROMPTLY AND ALWAYS WERE VERY COURTEOUS AND PROFESSIONAL. THE WORK AREA WAS LEFT IN A CLEAN STATE EACH DAY. I WAS SURPRISED BY HOW QUICKLY THE WORK WAS COMPLETED AND, SINCE I WAS ACTING AS MY OWN GENERAL CONTRACTOR, THERE WERE SEVERAL TIMES I HAD TO SPEED UP WORK DONE BY OTHERS TO ACCOMMODATE LARRY'S QUICKNESS. ALMOST EVERY TASK WAS COMPLETED AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. DESPITE BEING A SELF-DESCRIBED ROUGH CARPENTER LARRY DID A FINE JOB ON SOME OF THE FINISH CARPENTRY WE REQUESTED OF HIM (CROWN MOULDINGS, BEADBOARD CEILING). HE DOESN'T DO DRYWALL FINISHING BUT I WAS COMFORTABLE DOING THAT ASPECT OF THE JOB ON MY OWN. WE ALSO HAD TO DO OUR OWN ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING WORK SO KEEP THIS IN MIND IF YOU HIRE LARRY. THIS IS A VERY PROFESSIONAL COMPANY AND I WOULDN'T HESITATE TO HIRE THEM AGAIN!

LARRY WAS HONEST AND LET ME KNOW THAT THE PARTIAL JOB WOULD WORK JUST FINE. THEY DID HIGH QUALITY WORK AND DID NOT LEAVE ANY MESS. THIS WAS A TRICKY JOB THAT REQUIRED CARE AND PRECISION, AND THEY DELIVERED EXTREMELY WELL. HE IS AN HONEST AND HARDWORKING PERSON WHO I TRUST TO DO ANY JOB OF THIS TYPE. THERE WAS SOME FOLLOW UP WORK (WE HADN'T ANTICIPATED THE EXTENSIVE NEEDS) AND HE CALLED BACK RIGHT WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD. GREAT JOB AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR ALL TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION WORK.

Description of Work: THE WOOD ENCLOSING OUR GARAGE'S BACKWALL HAD ROTTED AWAY, DUE TO POOR FLASHING AND A GAP BETWEEN THE GUTTER WHICH ALLOWED WATER TO DRIP ONTO THE WOOD. THE WALL HAD 2 GAPING HOLES AND ROTTEN WOOD WHICH HAD TO BE TORN OUT AND REPLACED. OUTSIDE, THE FLASHING NEEDED REPLACEMENT TO PROTECT THE NEW WOOD WALL. WE ALSO HAD THE EXTERIOR WALL PAINTED WITH A GOOD OIL PRIMER AND LATEX SEMI-GLOSS PAINT, WHICH LARRY PROVIDED AND COMPLETED ALSO.
