JAMES SERVISS

Do yourself a favor, and stay away if you need any major work! My wife and I hired Mr. Serviss in 2021 to renovate our new home. Our theory is that he used the funds from the project (we funded using a 203K loan), and used it to pay off judgments against him. Yes, that's right, At Your Serviss is realistically a big pyramid scheme. Don't believe me? Just check the Indiana myCase system and see how many judgments he has against him. I'll give him credit, he knows how to drag out a court case and use the small claims system to his advantage. Stay far away from this snake!

Hired for remodel bathroom, finish an unfinished basement, paint exterior. Scheduled by James to be completed no later than February 28. As of June 2nd, 2022 he still hasn't finished. Subpar work. Inexperienced and unprofessional. Numerous times told me completion times in writing and has failed to meet the completion dates he sets. Ongoing excuses of labor shortage, he's moving, bad subcontractors, wants some time off, the list goes on. Meanwhile costing us time and money in holding costs and market changes for the sale price.

James came out the same day that I called and assembled the bed and hung the pictures. He came back a couple of days later (at my request because I had houseguests). and built the breakfast bar for my kitchen and tiled it with granite tile.  He also finished  my kitchen backsplash and fixed some tiles on my kitchen floor that had been disrupted months ago when I had new cabinets installed by Lowe's.  The Lowe's contract workers installed the cabinets, but didn't repair the tiles on the floor which no longer fit up against the edge of the cabinets.
While he was here, James also fixed a door that didn't close properly and did some other minor tasks.
James did beautiful work on everything that he worked on in my home.   He has been working on bathrooms and kitchens
since he was a teenager, and he is a very skilled craftsman.  He seems to have a natural ability for tile work and repair work of all kinds. He is efficient and exacting.  He is also polite, good natured, and honest. His price was very reasonable. 
I recommend James Serviss enthusiastically. to other Angie's List members.  He is extremely skilled and capable and pleasant to work with..

This job took about 5 days as estimated. We had the tile in the shower installed on the diagonal with trim on top. James did a fantastic job and we are very pleased with the results. The floor was done in ceramic tile and also looks fantastic.Both the tub and tile work was very professional. He also did a great job installing the new pre-hung door. We are definitely pleased with all the work.

I provided the cabinets, tile, and other materials, and James Serviss did all of the tile work, electrical work, plumbing, and everything else to renovate my bathroom himself. His wife worked with him and she helped him as he was working and cleaned up everything every day as he worked. James was very efficient and the results are beautiful! He worked extremely hard and he is detailed and conscientious. His work is top quality. After he left, I had one little problem with one side of an electrical outlet, and James came right out and replaced it. He was always cheerful, courteous, and very professional. I will definitely hire him again for all of my kitchen and bath work.

Mr. Serviss is very polite and capable. His work was excellent. Another installer had quoted the work and said I might have problems with installation and with making the tile around the countertops look right, but James made it all look great and I am extremely happy with the work. (I went from a square edge with my old counters to a round edge with the new one.) I will definitely ask Mr. Serviss to do more work for me in other areas of my home. He does all kitchen and bath renovations.
