You couldn't ask for a better professional. During Mick's site visit, he quickly and correctly assessed a downspout disconnected from its buried drain line, as well as site grading that sloped toward the house/basement. Ponding pressure had caused heavy rains to seep through cracks in the concrete block mortar joints and into our furnace room in the basement. Mick explained the problem clearly, what he could do, and also suggested that we first try to fix the problem ourselves (he even explained how), with the understanding that if it didn't work, we hadn't wasted much money. We took Mick's advice and dug out the area, sealed the concrete block and reconnected the downspout. In the months following, we haven't seen a drop of water get through. I highly recommend English Excavating for Mick's responsiveness, professionalism, ethics and placing his customer's financial situation above making a quick buck. Even though we didn't use his company this time, if we ever need similar work done, Mick will be our first call.

We needed to have the buried oil tank removed to complete the closing on my mother's house. They were very quick to get out there and they did a great job. The tank had been emptied when the furnace was converted to natural gas, but over time condensation and possible leaks had partially refilled the tank. They were able to get a company out the same day to empty the tank so they could continue with the removal. When they left, the hole was filled in and everything was neat and orderly. They did a great job.

I appreciate his honesty. He determined the problem was a responsibility of the water company. He called them and talked to them about the issue and they to felt it was their responsibility.

The company followed through with all that needed to be done. They kept us informed of events as they occurred.

He was excellent. We have used his company before. He has been a very good person to work with. He is reasonable in price. He went out of his way to make sure everything was right. He made sure our ground has gone back to the normal since the work has been done and he has continued to check up on us to make sure everything has been working correctly. His customer service skills are above and beyond. He and his work are over the top. I highly recommend him and have recommended him already to others.

I checked the price with other companies and their quote was different. They had different costs for different jobs. It was very confusing, but when the work was done and they got me the bill I was surprised. It was not what I expected and it was cheaper. That was the best price I got. They were willing to work with us. I rate them high overall.

These guys are great. You will not find a better and reasonably priced out fit around! I had used them in the past for my water line and had such a good experience for far less than competitors that I had to give them a call. Mark was very detailed in explaining to me what they were going to do before they did it. Mark even got me scheduled within three days of calling him! He pulled all the permits needed as well as having everything marked by the utility companies. He talked to the city to discover where the main sewer line ran and any other info he needed. You could tell he was very professional and knew exactly what he was doing. My wife had planted plants and stone edging where the guys were going to be digging. I expected this to all be destroyed. Instead I came home to my wifes plants dug up to where they could be reburied, and her landscaping stones neatly stacked in a pile. It's this kind of customer service that keeps this company great. English were able to tunnel under the house and reconnect my sewer line, without tearing up the inside like the other company said they'd have to, They installed a brand new cleanout, and pvc up to the sidewalk (roughly 25 to 30 ft). This company is EXCELLENT.

They were good. It was a group effort actually. They worked with another company. The other company came to clean the sewer first and could not do it as it was too hard. After that English Excavating Inc came and did the job and the other company finished up the job. They were great. I was able to flush my toilet just once a day. I called them and they came the next day. They worked with the plumbing company, and they knew what to do. They brought the equipment that they thought they could use so that they need not take another trip to get those equipments. I rate them high overall. I would recommend them to others.

Called to get an estimate for the above mentioned work and talked to Mick English. Had received English Excavating as a referral from a friend. Received an estimate that was approximately 1/3 of the price from another company. They came out in the morning and dug up the old clay pipe that had been broken by tree roots. Mick came out himself at the beginning of the job, after his crew had taken a look at what needed to be done, to make sure everything was going to go as he had estimated. They did run into a couple of places where they had to really dig out some tree roots but did get them cleared out and made sure the pipe was clear under the sidewalk and street. After installing the new cleanout, they put gravel in and laid the new pipe. After the city inspector came, they pushed the dirt back in the trench and cleaned up the yard and street area very well. We were very pleased with their work ethic. I would highly recommend this company. Tremendous job! (I myself am not a member of Angie's List, but my father is. He was the there for this job, since my husband couldn't be around to watch what was going on. He asked me to submit a report on their work.)

They were recommended to us by a friend. They knew their business. They gave us a quote that was considerably less than the person that we had been working with, as I recall.

We had a sewer pipe that had broken where it meant the cleanout valve near the house. After digging, we discovered, the pipe coming in from the street was not level with the pipe into the house but about 6-12 inches lower. Mark did a good job of assessing that the waste water was still running well and agreed to fix the cleanout valve and up to 8 feet of the sewer pipe. This fixed the problem as the old pipe had bent about 6 feet back. Mark was very quick in coming out to provide his estimates, and actually came out twice himself in addition to his lead crewman. Work was scheduled and completed within a few days. Great work. Would highly recommend.

Our main water line to the house had busted under the driveway, so we just wanted a whole new line installed and drilled underneath the ground. We didn't want a trench across the driveway and yard. English was able to make one small hole by the water meter and run a 60ft water line under the driveway into the house. Water was up and going in 4 hours. They made sure to not make a mess in the house when they did the hookup. A++ I will for sure hire them again if needed. They were way cheap and did a great job!!!

Mick English was highly recommended to us by others who had used him in the past. Knowing we had very old lines connecting our house to the city's sewer lines, we were concerned this project could quickly become very expense. Mick gave us a best case/worse case estimate. I was very comfortable with his evaluation, so we have them proceed. We scheduled the work for two days later and his guys arrived as promised. They were a great crew who clearly knew what they were doing. They found the area that was clogged due to tree roots, cut out a large section of the pipe, and installed the clean out. They handled having another company come out and do a camera inspection out to the street to ensure there were no other problems that needed to be addressed. Luckily, they determined the partial repair would be adequate. I apprecaite their honest, as they could have very easily told me I needed to spent 5x the money and replace the entire line. My only drawback is that I wish they had run the camera back to the house to double check everything looked good in that direction too. It's not a huge problem, as I expect there are not any problems. However, since they had a camera on site, it would have given me a little more piece of mind in knowing we were in great shape. They also did a good job of trying to contain the damage to the yard (which isn't an easy task). I will certainly use them again in the future if needed!

This company gave us a inflated estimate due to the scope of what might have been needed. It turned out that they dug near to the damage and did not have to dig as much as expected. They were honest and charged us less than they could have. I feel that they were honorable. They arrived in a timely fashion and did the work quickly. They gave us a worst case scenario and it turned out not to be so bad.

We did not proceed with the work at this time as we chose a cheaper alternative rather than the permanent fix. However, Mickey's price was significantly less than another estimate we received.

The installation of the sewer went well. The workers were punctual. We were told that they would have to cut down some of the limbs in our 35 year old tree, but instead used the back hoe to rip the branches down causing the bark to peel. The owner told us, that since we had contacted our own arborist it was not his problem. The workers also moved all of the dirt to one pile, making it very difficult to use the dirt to fill in the back of the ditch, behind to fence line. We understand that doing this work at this time of year makes yard work very difficult, but they didn't help alleviate the problems by their actions.

Mick called me back quickly and was highly responsive. Crew came out on Saturday to assess problem. They fixed on Monday and did an A+ job. Mick was knowledgeable, fair, communicated well, did what he said he'd do, and not only met his bid, but beat it! If every vendor had this integrity and an honest job for an honest dollar, Angie's List might go out of business! :) Thanks, English Excavating!

I called for an estimate at 5:45 pm. Mick was out to give an estimate the next morning. They were a day late to do the work, but that didn't cause a problem. The crew was very friendly and hard working. They worked through a rain shower. They explained what the problem was and they answered all of my questions.

Mick was very prompt and efficient. He seemed very honest and a straight shooter. I ended up using another company since they were able to more effectively work around my existing landscaping, and their quote included other potential repairs for the same amount of money.

Cecil, the job foreman, was nice, professional, and responsive. The overall quality of the work was good. It would have been exceptional, but the quality of the fill dirt was poor. The fill dirt contained some debris and large stones (about two wheel barrow's full) that I removed by hand from the surface. I called about the quality of the fill, and they acknowledged the problem and worked with me to resolve the issue.

I CALLED THE COMPANY, MICK (VP) WAS OUT OF THE OFFICE AND HE WOULD CALL ME BACK THE NEXT DAY TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT. HE DID CALL THE NEXT DAY AND WAS WILLING TO COME OUT THAT DAY. DUE TO MY SCHEDULING CONFLICTS HE CAME OUT THE DAY AFTER. GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $2800. A WEEK LATER HE CALLED BACK TO SEE IF I HAD DECIDED ON ANYONE AND SAID HE WOULD BE ABLE TO DO IT FOR ONLY $1500, BUT UNFORTUNATELY SOMEONE ALREADY BID THAT AND THE WORK WAS BEING COMPLETED THE DAY HE CALLED ME BACK. MICK WAS VERY PUNCTUAL AND APPRECIATE HIS FOLLOW-UP!
