The project went very well. The team showed up on time, were very courteous and did a great job. They moved the furniture for us and there were no problems with this. We had just had the walls painted and I was very worried about damage, but there was none. And obviously the measuring for the job was expert, as there was only a small square of carpet left over.

They were very good and gave us a good deal.  We were happy with them.  They were very responsive to our phone request and got right back to us.  We installed the carpet two and half years ago and we had to wait for nine months to refinish the basement and then we had them come back and finish the installation.  They were great and worked with us on the schedule.  They cut the carpet to size; they stored it and gave us a fixed price.  They were terrific because it was all prearranged, we stored the carpet in our basement and when we were ready for installation, they just came out and put it in.  They were good enough that we would particularly go back there if we were doing it again.  It was good quality and value for money.

Ran into an unanticipated Asbestos problem (old, removed flooring) that entailed hiring a separate firm to remove the old flooring.  Company recommended by Blakley's did a wonderful job and Blakley's was flexible in modifying the job and dates to accommodate these unanticipated steps.  Project turned out well.  Will use Blakley's for any future flooring needs.

They came in, moved furniture, installed the floors and trimmed. They cleaned up and put the furniture back. It was an excellent job. I thought their pricing was competitive; however they were not the cheapest. I will use the company again in the future.

One of the things I really liked about them is that they have sub-contractors that do the installation of the flooring, carpeting, tile, or laminate. The installers that they have are very nice and very meticulous. They guys that did the carpet installation were great and so were the guys that did the laminate. I used good quality carpet and laminate, so it was no inexpensive.

Blakley's Corporation was very nice and had extra carpet left over that I had binded together when the job was done. They were very efficient and worked well.

Their sales consultants helped us the most. They helped us with the color selection, design, and in coordinating things. Their professionalism was really good. We liked the quality of their products too.

About 3 weeks after moving in, the laminate wood floors in the living room and dining areas started peaking?extreme multiple peaks at least 3 inches high in some spots, making it difficult to function in the apartment as the floors could not be walked on. Peaking refers to a situation in which the laminate floor boards push up against each other and result in high points at joints. Two supervisors from Blakely?s and the construction manager from the apartment complex looked at the floors and confirmed the peaking was due to improper installation - lack of expansion space between the laminate floor and the walls around the perimeter of the installation, or a lack of expansion space between the laminate floor and moldings. Due to the inconvenience and expense of the replacement of the floors, along with other unresolved issues with the apartment complex, it resulted in early termination of my lease. When I asked Blakely?s for a reimbursement of the money I spent on the floors that were defective due to incorrect installation, Blakely?s stated they would not refund any money. Underneath the circumstances, any reputable company recognizing the known defect was due to their installation would have worked with the client towards an agreement of reimbursement of money spent on the floors!

Quality of the carpet was good, installation was wonderful. Installation crew was great. The sales staff was poor; we would give them a D, overall. They were condescending and very poor at communicating. Generally, acted like they were doing us a favor to wait on us.

The sales person was very good to work with. The carpet installers were very good and the carpet installation went very well. The problem arose with the wood floor installation. The men used our furniture to hold down glued trim in our doorways and told us we couldn't move them for 24 hours. We couldn't get into the rooms and wondered what they would have done if there were no furniture? They placed left over flooring to weigh down the entry trim and again told us not to disturb.for 24 hours. When we did remove it the following day we found they had installed a small left over piece which was not straight. It looked very unprofessional to us. When I contacted them they said they would re-do it the following week. They promised to call me on a specific day to schedule, but did not. I called them and they said they couldn't get the trim for another week or two. Another week went by and they did call saying they had the trim and scheduled with me to arrive early in the the day the following week. I scheduled to take time off to be at the house to meet them, but they called 30 minutes before they were to arrive to cancel telling us they 'just found' they did not have all the materials. Am am updating this report November 4, 2010. After the confusion listed above, they did correct the problems and the Manager did contact me to apologize. The final product is very good. It was a shame the journey had to be so hard, but the final result was acceptable.
Response from Blakley's Flooring
"We are sorry that the wood portion of the job did not get finished correctly the first time. There was confusion on our part as to what material was needed to finish the job. Once we secured the material and realized the member came from ou of town to be at the home, we rearranged our installer's schedule and I believe finished the work to his satisfaction that day. I personally called him to apoligize the next day. I will call him again to make sure that I am not missing something because I feel the rating is unfair as a D. We always try to stick with a problem until corrected. Allen Gindt - Retail Store Manager"

They are very knowledgeable and they had a lot of experience. The actual work was done by a father and son. They did have to move appliances to get the flooring in place correctly. They did a good job.

It went great. When we received our estimate, the rep was right on time and was finished with his measurements within 5 minutes. The carpet needed to be ordered and came in about 3-4 weeks later, which was no problem. The installation was scheduled and the installers arrived within the allotted time frame and finished the one room in about 2+ hours. The took very good care not to damage our furniture, hardwood floors (when they moved the furniture to its temporary location), or anything else in the home. They cleaned up all of their mess except for a few tufts of carpet, which were easy to vacuum up.

They moved all the furniture, removed the existing carpet & pad and disposed of same. All the walls & woodwork had recently been painted and they were careful in the installation of the new pad and carpet and only a couple of very minor touch-ups were needed after they left. A few weeks after the installation, I noticed something poking up (or rather my bare foot noticed it) and they came out within a couple of days to repair the problem. Since I have pets, sales had recommended a certain carpet stating it would withstand pets better than other carpets. A short while after installation, one of my cats left me an unwelcome deposit. I was able to easily clean it up with no visible evidence of their unwanted "gift".

Excellent service and products. Jennifer, my sales representative at the Blakley's store in Carmel, has a great deal of experience in this industry, and she was extremely helpful in recommending products and offering suggestions to suit my needs. When I later encountered a problem with a product, she met with the manufacturer's representative and obtained the manufacturer's agreement to replace the product at no charge. Installation services were similarly impressive. Installers were courteous and professional, and had a great deal of prior experience. All-in-all, I recommend Blakley's very highly.

I wouldn't use anyone else. I had excellent advice from the sales person in picking out the patterns and colors. The installation was excellent, and the price was fair. The sales person called both before and after the installation, and also sent a follow-up letter. I was very impressed with their professionalism.
