The price depends on what type of work is being done. Richard Baker is the one who comes out and gives us an estimate on what we need to have done. He supplies us with a list of things he feels we need to have done and then we pick from the list, what we want to have done. They are a little more expensive than some of the other tree services but, sometimes you have to pay a little more for quality work. They also send us literature from time to time on trees and plants.

They did a great job. I have had others do similar work on trees and been very disappointed. These particular gentlemen did a fantastic job.
Description of Work: Steve Green and another gentleman from Bartlett pruned a 30 foot red maple. They removed lower branches by about 6 feet to clear around the roof and gutters, and other low branches as necessary, thinned the crown of the tree, reduced the height and crown by about 2 feet to enhance the appearance of the tree. They also installed a cable and rod to keep the tree from splitting and spreading. They cleaned up all debris after the work was finished. The appearance of the tree was very pleasing when they were finished.

The estimate went well. The company representative was out later that afternoon, although the phone representative said it may be a week since they were very busy. The estimate write-up was very well done on a computer/printer in his vehicle, including all the specifics of the project. Very professionally handled. I opted for another company due to price.
Description of Work: Requested an estimate for removal of three trees, including stump removal. The trees were: 20 ft Black Willow, 7-8 fooot Spruce and a 20+ foot River Birch.

Although I've had good service from Bartlett in the past, this was not a good experience. I had to have them out here 3 times to get the promised work done, and got "attitude" from the work crew. The work finally got done to my satisfaction, but I won't be calling them again. Too much hassle.

They did an outstanding job! They were the lowest bid and 1/2 the highest bidder. The tree was removed with a minimum amount of damage to the lawn, the wood was stacked near the house as requested, and the leaves, twigs, and sawdust were removed. An amazing cleanup job! Stump removal was outstanding with the stump removed a distance below ground level. As before, the cleanup was amazing with VERY little debris left behind.

Very nice and friendly. Rick gave the estimate, and within an hour, they started working, the entire tree was cut down in 3 hours. The job was very quick, which was nice. The quote was a little higher than others, but they were extremely professional and kind. I was very pleased with the job they did. The stump was ground out the next day, and they did a nice job.

Unfortunately, this was the heaviest season yet for the seed pods, even after some tree pruning. I expected Bartlett to concentrate on the heavily flower pod laden branches, but instead it seems that random cuts were made. Also, the write up simply indicated pruning for the health of the tree. When I asked about this, I was told it was just "standard language". We also agreed that timing was vital to prune out the flower seed pods to decrease mess(anticipated the first week of May), but that was not accomplished either. In fact, I had to make several phone calls to get the crew back to finish the job to THEIR satisfaction (I am not satisfied). Cody told me in a phone message that they would finish the job "the next time they were in the Greenwood area", which means at their convenience, not in accordance with customer needs. I had to net my backyard and carry away wheel barrow loads of seed pods. What an expensive disappointment. My husband is angry about the wasted money!
Description of Work: I specifically searched for "Arborists" who would help me greatly decrease or eliminate spring flower seed pods and fall nuts on two large pignut hickory trees. I was assured that I would be satisfied and that the production of seed pods would be greatly reduced this spring 2007. The product Florel would not work because of both the size of trees and proximity to water.

WE ARE VERY REGRETFUL THAT WE FAILED IN THIS CASE, AND I PRESUME WE DID A POOR JOB COMMUNICATING EXPECTATIONS TO THE CLIENT BEFORE THE JOB WAS INITIATED. FROM AN ARBORICULTURAL STANDPOINT, IT IS UNREASONABLE TO EXPECT TO ELIMINATE OR SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE FLOWER OR FRUIT PRODUCTION IN TREES VIA PRUNING. WHILE IT IS TRUE THAT MANY TWIGS WHERE THE FLOWERS ARE BORNE WOULD BE PRUNED OUT, AND THE OVERALL PRODUCTION CONSEQUENTLY REDUCED SOMEWHAT, TREES WOULD HAVE TO BE MUTILATED TO ACCOMPLISH ANY APPRECIABLE REDUCTION. IT IS EVEN POSSIBLE, DEPENDING ON THE TIMING OF THE PRUNING, THAT LATENT BUDS COULD BE STIMULATED BY SUCH PRUNING. THIS SHOULD NEVER BE THE OBJECTIVE OF A REPUTABLE ARBORIST, AND WE SINCERELY APOLOGIZE IF THIS EXPECTATION WAS INDEED RELAYED TO OUR CLIENT. HIGHLY EFFECTIVE FRUIT ELIMINATION TREATMENTS (BEYOND TREE MUTILATION OR REMOVAL) SIMPLY HAVE NOT YET BEEN DISCOVERED IN OUR INDUSTRY AT THIS TIME. ONE CERTAIN SPRAY TREATMENT DOES PROVIDE MODERATE, BUT INCONSISTENT SUPPRESSION, BUT AS NOTED, CANNOT BE DONE IN CERTAIN AREAS. BARTLETT TREE EXPERTS STRIVES TO MAINTAIN THE HIGHEST PRUNING STANDARDS IN THE INDUSTRY. AGAIN, WE ARE DEEPLY SORRY FOR THE POOR COMMUNICATION.

Contacted Bartlett for estimate for service, and immediately they were quite concerned that the broken branch was in contact with a power line. A representative came out that day and gave an estimate for repair. The estimate was very professional and was sent to me via email. The work was done the next morning. Other than the tree being trimmed, we would not know that the work had been done, no debris was left behind. They treated our property as if it were their own. I am completely satisfied with the work as well as the professionalism that all of the employees exude.

The work was done very well as expected. The scheduling and communication was less than perfect. Completed work was fully to my satisfaction and included thorough and natural thinning, as well as excellent clean up. The service crew left did not disturb the lawn or leave any impression they had been there beyond the thinned tree. The quote of $810 was well less than three other 'A' rated Angie's list vendors. Bartlett was able to fully access the site using a bucket truck.

The work was neither completed correctly nor in a timely fashion, which I believe lead to the death of the tree. Despite many phone calls, it took 3-4 weeks for the soil to be excavated around the correct tree, as another tree was mistakenly treated and someone had to return. At that point they did have a supervisor come out and make sure that the correct tree was treated. The rest of the treatments also required several phone calls for completion of each part. The time frame that had been indicated upon the estimate and in the contract was not followed. I cannot say definitely that what Bartlett Tree Service did not do caused the death of this tree, however it would have seemed much less likely if their work had been done in a timely and responsible manner. After the tree died in July, I canceled further services with the company.
Description of Work: They were called to give an expert opinion about whether a spruce tree in a row of boundary spruces could be saved and then to do what they thought might help save it. They were hired to excavate soil around the base of the tree, to fertilize the sick tree and the others in the row, and to spray all in the row for mites and needlecast. It was apparent that the tree was possibly dying, and that time was of the essence. I was assured that they had treated trees such as this one and that they most often had good results. After the contract was finalized, the work was to immediately begin.

They called me promptly, even though the whole city must have been calling after such a bad storm. We tried to save one tree, but the location made it impossible. The crew that came to take down the trees was polite and professional and gave me advice for future work without pressure to have it done by them (some of it we could do ourselves). After this experience, I plan to have them back to care for our fruit trees in the spring.

They did excellent work. I was very impressed with the arborist, Rick Carter, who came out to survey the problem and make a recommendation. He was very knowledgeable about the problems with ornamental pears. He was very willing to listen to our concerns and viewpoint. He offered suggestions on what could be done and accepted our choice. He asked about our preferences and our landscape plans. And he offered suggestions for a replacement tree. The crew came to remove the tree while we were on vacation. We came home to find the tree gone, all the debris carefully cleaned up and the perennial growing under that tree in perfect condition. My neighbor had observed the process and was very impressed with the care take by the workmen. Just recently they came to plant the new Hawthorne. They were willing to dig by hand to avoid power lines in that area. They did an excellent job of properly planting and mulching the new tree.

The spray for suppression of the seedballs does certainly make a difference. They have to do the spraying right when the tree is ready to germinate what they call the fruit of the tree. The spraying really does work but it is never totally effective as the tree is very tall and some spray just does not make it to where it counts. We will continue to purchase the service as it does make a real difference.
Description of Work: We have a large Sweetgum tree located in front of our house. It is a beautiful tree, but when it drops those pesky sweetgum thorny seedpods into the rain gutters it really fouls up the gutters. Arborist Richard Barker explained that they can spray the tree to reduce the quantity of these seedballs. We have had this done every year since living in this home.

We had a large maple tree, struck by lightning. We called several companies to get estimates for removal, for insurance purposes. Bartlett's responded very quickly. They actually came to the site rather than, just asking the diameter of the trunk and giving us a quote over the phone. We were very impressed, when they followed up with a courtesy call.
