Elite Roofing & Construction was founded in the 1989 by John S. Lahr Sr. A roofing apprentice to his Father for over ten years, at JP Lahr & Son's. John has a wealth of knowledge and experience in all facets of roofing. John has also taken many courses on the subject of roofing, to stay up to date with all the current trends.

Had a major leak that destroyed the drywall ceiling and stained the wall in the back of my garage. I also had water running behind the endcap of the gutter and flowing down the outside stone of the house near a window. The area of concern on the roof was very difficult in that several roof lines all meet and form a shallow and narrowing pitch. John tore off the old roofing in this area and installed a membrane under the shingles. Then re-shingled everything else back to normal. He also re-did the flashing that was causing the water to run behind the gutter endcap. Both repairs are working well. The entire quote process was a little longer than desired, but after an agreement was made, the work was completed within a couple of days. Everything was cleaned up perfectly. Overall, I am pleased with the work and will ask them to quote any future work.

Needed to completely re-shingle house. We had Certainteed shingles on roof that had curled and failed/were failing and needed replaced. We found out that these were part of a class action lawsuit due to defective materials used in the manufacture of them. Called 3 companies to get quotes; and ended up using Elite Roofing for this job. Very nice company to deal with, very professional in their dealings. This company has one of the best reputations in the industry, in my opinion. You get what you pay for.

I found them on Angie's List. This one is close to my house and they have a good reputation in my neighborhood for doing good work. We will probably have them do the roof in the spring when the weather is better. They were very courteous and prompt. I was very impressed with them. They seemed friendly and I was real impressed with their manner on the phone. I was impressed with how quickly they responded and how professional they were. I thought there price was very fair. It was within $500 of the estimate another company gave us.

John Lahr made a prompt appointment and provided estimate for the work. He was very professional and knowledgeable of what was needed for the repairs. I received three estimates and John was the most sincere and I believe had the most expertise for the work that I knew needed to be accomplished. The repair of the support structure and the complete job was efficient and prompt. There was one minor communication problem/concern, but one call to John and all was resolved 100 percent.

The project went very well. The crew came out on schedule and began replacing the old roof utilizing a "phasing" system by which they would do smaller portions of the roof at a time. We were impressed with the process as this system worked very well considering the storms that we had overnight between phases (not one bit of leakage to be found during and after construction). While replacing the old roof the crew encountered sound sheathing with no signs of deterioration (They did have to "tack down" a few missing nails from the last installation when the home was built). The foreman and crew were very courteous, cooperative, and professional for the entire duration of the project. The new roof has received numerous compliments from neighbors and family. The new ridge ventilation system has been a vast improvement over the previous system as John indicated. The new roof not only looks better, but it is a much quieter system than the old roof as well. We have also used Elite for small repairs over the years and they have always found where any leakage occurs -- bay windows, chimneys, and ice dam areas.

John was very professional when he came to evaluate the problem. He was able to determine that the issue was the way that my landscape was draining and that one of my drains had become clogged. The company came and redesigned my landscape on the side of my house to improve its drainage. They also unclogged the drain and redirected the gutters so that they drain properly. The moisture problem in the basement is completely resolved. I also consulted Elite roofing on a second job which was a leak in the ceiling of my kitchen. This problem was also promptly addressed and the issue has been completely resolved.

Having a very old building used for the purposes of warehousing peoples boats and R.V.s, I had structural damage due to storms and the roof was leaking very bad. Elite Roofing was contracted for the job through my insurance company and did a wonderful job. The experience was excellant. The professionalism of the company was excellant, and the contractors were respectful and pleasant to work with. My insurance company was very pleased as well with Elite Roofings price, professionalism, swiftness and job performance.

It had been leaking for a while and we had not noticed it until it had leaked so bad that it started dripping in the ceiling. They came out probably two or three times because the leak was persisting. The problem was that the only time that it would leak was when it rained out of the North-West, which happens once every three years. They don’t know where the leak is and they can’t do anything about it until it rains from the North-West again. They redid the shingles and did a new flashing up against the house, because a section of the house juts out and they thought that that may be the problem. They also did weather stripping of the silicon around the windows because they thought that it could be coming in from there. They came out 2 or 3 times and did a different thing each time, and whatever they did the last time seemed to work. It leaked just a little bit the last time it rained. They told us that they will do whatever it takes to get it to be right.

All of these activities were performed as stated with very little time from initial contact - as in no advance from me due to an earlier than anticipated closing date. John was able to perform the repairs between frequent periods of rain with two days to spare before my closing date. I contacted them on a Tuesday and by the next day the work was estimated and completed. John even gave me a discounted price below the miminum. The office personnel were very professional and helpful and relieved my stress instead adding to it as happens all too often with home repairs.

Mr. Lahr quickly responded to my request for an estimate; however, it did take over a week to receive it. He was very professional and explained in detail what the problems were with the roof. Our house is only 7 years old, but we have had water intrusion problems almost since day one, causing major dry wall and ceiling damage. Both roofers, who bid on the project, gave the same evaluation. Mr. Lahr took time to explain the cause of the damage, what had to be replaced and why. All flashing was removed and replaced with a top quality vent. Some coping and caulk also had to be removed/replaced. The work was completed in one day. There was nothing left on the yard. The work was completed within a month of the initial inquiry. I would use them again if the need arose.

Joke of a company. Performed the work and then would not provide the warranty paperwork after 5 calls to their office. Each time they said it would be sent out. Had a repair needed to their work and the owner came out to look at it and said he would fix it within 1-2 weeks. That was a month ago and I cannot get a call back from them. I have since paid another company $250 for the repair. Very unprofessional and I would not recommend this company to anyone.

After some time and investigations, the "false/fake company" was finally forced to close their doors, and leave town. John is an absolute delight, and has great interpersonal skills. He really sits down with you and finds out what you want. I got the sense that he wanted me to see my dream roof come true! He offered me an optional quote for 25 year shingles and to sub contract the work to replace my chimney cap. I chose another company simply because my immediate neighbors had used them.

We had several pretty bad storms. I had a few leaks. Called them for repairs. However, we had hail and wind damage. They advised me to call my homeowners insurance. Sure enough, bless them all, we got a new roof. They gave me several options and colors. I had them install a 3 dimensional roof and WOW is it great. I love these guys. Several people in my neighborhood used them after I did. You can see the quality in the materials used. They also replaced 2 old skylights. Their crew was wonderful. The clean-up afterward was outstanding. They were quick and efficient. I would recommend them to anyone. I love my roof so much. I have had many compliments from others who have driven by my house.

Would only give me a verbal estimate. Wanted to set an appointment with my husband and I together. The verbal estimate was more than double what the insurance company had given me a check for. Wanted, in my opinion, to take the insurance company to the cleaners.

Elite provided an estimate for a re-roofing of our home. Their price was reasonable but the office was somewhat pushy about doing the work. We were hesitant to move forward with them based on some other Angie List reviews of their work during the spring and summer of 2006. We have not yet moved forward with the project.

Rob stated he would come out when the insurance adjuster was here. The first time he was not here and then the next time he was not reachable. He seemed to be bad mouthing the insurance company. He had never given me an estimate. I talked to him and he said he would be out the next day to give me the estimate, he never showed up. I feel he gave me bad advice all the way around. I was not trying to submit a claim to the insurance company in the beginning.

The bottom line is that they didn't give me any information except a tentative estimate with just the basics. The mistake I made was to show him the insurance company's report, which said I had 6,000 dollars in damage. When we discussed money, he said, "I'll do the job, and you can give me the insurance check." After the work, I called the adjuster to ask him not to pay them. Frankly, the guy scares me now, and I don't want to deal with them any more.
