Dry Cleaning Service
My experience with Lansing Cleaners in Dyer ended up being a horrible one. It started off alright, to be fair. This was my first time using Lansing Cleaners and will definitely be my last. I was looking for a dry cleaners that was able to clean bedding (comforters, pillows) and if I was satisfied with the work, I was going to bring more precious items, like my late mother's prom dress for them to clean and preserve. The whole experience started on Tuesday, March 26th when I dropped off a comforter set that I'd just purchased (still in the bag). I expected that it would be a bit pricey to clean the set since I have had my comforters cleaned before at other dry cleaning stores, but I NEVER expected the ridiculously exorbitant fees that Lansing Cleaners charges. $17.00 to clean one (1) decorative pillow?!?! Absurd! However, I went ahead and allowed them to clean them. The cashier who was taking my info to enter me into their system was kind enough to and quot;give me the heads upand quot; on the cost of cleaning the pillows. She never gave me a price on the cost of cleaning the comforter, but when she explained that there was a local newspaper with a 20% off coupon (copies were right there in-store), I got the hint that my bill would be kind of high. The cashier informed me that my items would be ready by Friday of that week, the 29th, to which I agreed. I return on Friday to pick up my things and lo and behold, the comforter is not ready and neither are the pillows. (Sigh) I am told that they would be ready for pick up on Saturday. I waited until Monday to pick up my items, at which time I bring in more items to be cleaned, including a costume that had a battery operated fiber optic logo on the back, which I was told that they were unable to clean because they did not know how. When I asked about my items to be picked up, I was told that my comforter was STILL not ready and the cashier had no idea why for sure but she believed there was a tough stain that they were having a difficult time with. (Remember, the set was new, in the bag when I brought it in) She brought out the pieces that were available. She starts ringing me up for the comforter set, including the comforter. She then asks me to sign a slip stating that I picked up my items. Seriously? I asked if I could be given a discount for the inconvenience and because the expectation that was set had not been met. I was told that my comforter would be ready on Friday, March 29 and when I go back to the store on Monday, April 1 to drop off more things to be cleaned, the previous order is still not ready! This must've been an April Fools joke! The cashier tells me that I already have a discount so the manager wouldn't approve of any discount. She never bothered to even ask. I can't expect my order on the day promised, but they should expect full payment. How is that fair? My second order was ready on the day promised but what a bang up job they did. I guess I needed to specify that I wanted my clothes wrinkle-free along with the cleaning. Apparently that is their M.O. because I got some of my items back just as wrinkled as they were when I dropped them off. One of my cocktail dresses looked like balled up aluminum foil. My red/black tartan wool skirt had white fuzz balls all over it when I got it back. I wonder if they even cleaned my items. For all the accolades that Lansing Cleaners has gotten for being an environmentally friendly dry cleaner and they pride themselves on being a family owned business, they can not be getting accolades for customer satisfaction because I was definitely NOT satisfied.
