Michael was not wearing a mask when he came to my door on 11/4/2020. I had my mask on and asked if he could wear his. He immediately did so. He spent enough time at our home to answer all of my questions and seemed to do a thorough job of inspecting our roof. As we were discussing his findings, he unexpectedly removed his mask. During the final several minutes of our conversation, he did not put it back on. My wife and I decided that - regardless of the quality of his proposal - we would not do business with his company, because of Michael's failure to responsibly follow Covid social distancing protocol.

8/6 Ordered skylights and made deposit with Michael - "3 weeks" was told Week 8/20 "need to measure" per phone message (I thought Michael measured?!) 8/24 Anthony - "Final measure" ordered skylights (again) 8/27 Original 3 weeks for installation ? back and forth with Anthony about blinds for skylights. Problem supposedly solved. Added blinds for second skylight. 9/14 Second 3 weeks for installation Week 9/10-9/14 Called Jessica 9/18 Skylights shipped in. Set up install for 9/21. Anthony to call me (I got the impression that would be today). Jessica not aware of blinds for skylights. Question: is this a one day job or a two day job i.e. does a separate crew install the blinds? 9/19 Still waiting for the call from Anthony. About 1:30 Jessica called and apologized for the problems, also for not knowing about blinds etc. Promised to meet with Anthony that afternoon and have him call me that afternoon. 9/20 Jessica - on schedule. 8:30-noon tomorrow (Friday). Anthony had not called her either. Knows I am out of patience. She says paint before blinds go in. 3:55 Anthony called cannot find other blind. Reuse old one and give discount. I said ok. Let me know the discount and time tomorrow. I made my own arrangements for a shutter person to come out on 10/1 for shutter measure. 9/21 Jessica did a good job of keeping me informed and worked with me as I had to have some previously unscheduled bloodwork. 3:45PM they began work. Could not properly finish the family room one as skylight was the wrong size. Another installer would be here the next morning (Saturday) to finish. The had to "build" a frame. 9/22 Saturday - they finished the job. It took about 4 hours. I had house guests. 9/26 Paid Anthony. He was not aware of the wrong size issue or having to build a frame. Pledged to have their painter do the needed trim painting in the family room as a result of their error. Week of 10/1 - my wife noticed she was hearing outside road noise (people talking) through the kitchen skylight. Talked to Jessica. 10/2 Worker called wife to arrange to fix the kitchen skylight on 10/3 and painter to do work on 10/4. 10/3 kitchen skylight repaired. Installers left out a piece of wood which they should not have! You see the wood he used for beneath the skylight. How could that be missed?

I received a call promptly after reviewing Jeff Home Improvement they scheduled me for July 26 2018 between 2-3 pm to give me estimates. I took off work stayed home to meet with the contractor who never showed up called to reschedule or had the respect to let me know he was no longer interested. I called another contractor who came out gave me an estimate and the job was completed today by the contractor who showed up. It's bad business when you make an appointment and don't even call the client back to say you're not coming. I have other jobs I was going to inquire about however I will definitely be going with a different contractor. Thanks for showing me nothing but disrespect and not even attempting to keep our scheduled appointment. I'm pleased w the contractor I hired when u declined our appointment

Description of Work
Needed a new roof. Had three different quotes. Jeff Home Improvements weren't the cheapest. However i had no problem showing them the quotes we received from other contractors to get an "apples to apples" comparison. They still were a little higher after but I told them my budget and got the brand new roof at my budget.

he called me right back made an appointment to come at 3 on Sunday, he called and basically said all his business is in another part of town and if he came he would have to charge us mileage/gas so really he was brushing us off. Not sure why he didn't state this up front I think that was very very unprofessional and I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. It's like a job that would have probably cost about $10000 was enough for him to come and give us an estimate.

The contract we signed was with New Albany Roofing, but the bill was under Jeff Home Improvements. I think they were in the process of changing their name when we got involved with them. They are the classic throw a crap roof on your house and walk away. They got to us quickly, which is why they got the job. There was so much water coming through the roof we needed somebody as quickly as possible to stop the leak. We had just bought the house and didn't realize how bad the roof was leaking in all four corners. The problem with the company was that they didn't stand behind their work. We had problems later that spring when we found that the crew who put the shingles on - who didn't speak much English - did what they were told to do, and replaced the roof exactly the same as it was. The problem was there was some flashing missing on our West Dormer. Because of that, we continued to have water coming in and leaving water stains on our kitchen ceiling. They never showed up despite my phone calls and did not accept that it was something they had to fix. So we were left with part of our roof still leaking and I had to call another contractor to fix it. All told we needed three further repairs to the roof. I was prepared to pay this company to fix these extra pieces but they walked away. They used poor quality product and provided poor quality workmanship. They were the cheapest, and we got what we paid for.

We go to great lengths and have invested a great deal of capital to ensure that we never miss an appointment again. Maybe if we could of spoke with this individual they could of seen the other side of the story. As most people in this area remember, we had sustained winds of 70 mph for almost 4 hours and due to the subsequent damage we averaged a new phone call every 30 seconds in the following days after the storm, and as we hired additional help process the new calls it never allowed us time to train our new people. Of course we would of loved to have this persons business and am sorry that this happened. Our area was declared a disaster area and I thought we did very good to help as many people as we did.

On 10/19/2011, approximately 4 weeks after installation was the first rain in our area. There were several leaks coming from the metal garage roof. We called Jeff''s Home Improvements. They sent a representative out to inspect. He agreed and had a crew come out and apply silicone to some screw where they thought water was coming in. Two days later (10/21) was another rain. Leaks were worse than before. A different representative was sent out and said some sheet of metal needed to be replaced. On 11/15/2011 we had rain coming down on the newly installed cedar walls and throughout the entire ceiling. We called called the representative (Paul) again, he sent a crew to apply silicone to the seams. On 11/24/2011 Paul said he would send a crew out to apply lap sealant. He said this process is common on metal roofs. At this point, we were getting and uneasy feeling and not getting resolution for the leaking ceiling. We felt they were giving us the run around. We decided to hold off on the lap sealant and contacted 3 different local roofing companies to review the roof and offer possible leak repair suggestions. These professionals provided us with written statements indicating this roof can not be repaired. Shingles were installed incorrectly, many screws were over tightened and missing washers. We tried to contact Jeff Home Improvements, Inc. to discuss the idea of a refund but received no return phone calls or e-mails. Finally on 12/29/2011 we contracted another creditable metal roofer to replace the roof that Jeff's Home Improvements, Inc. installed 09/2011. We contacted the BBB on 12/6/2011. They (Jeff Home Improvements, Inc.) refused a refund saying we voided the warranty. Next step is small claims.
Description of Work
We had a contract with Jeff Home Improvements, Inc. in the amount of $10,800.00 for replacing a shingled roof on our house and a metal roof on our garage. We have no issues with the shingled roof on the house. This work was completed and paid in full on 09/22/2011.

Service Provider Response

I am the General Operations manager for Jeff Home Improvements Inc. I was a Senior Project Manager and Customer Service Rep at the time we replaced this roofing system. I'll remain brief here as I only want to go on record to state that our company responded to every issue that was raised with these folks and we agreed to install a new roof or to refund the money paid down for the original installation. In 2012 when our production and office personnel were expanding to handle the additional thousands (and I do mean 'additional thousands') of calls that were pouring in, I still responded and took measures to do the right thing. I feel it was very unfair of our customer here to categorize and leave a written review without finishing the rest of the story. Though it took time, we corrected or refunded every single solitary instance that these folks were not satisfied. My final conversation with them was that they would be satisfied if we took the steps and did the things we did. It has been over 2 and one half years since and we've not experienced any more complaints of this nature on any metal roofing systems.

The fans were left in place for more than a week. Although I called Jeff Home Improvement several times during the week, I never received a phone call back. When I finally got in touch with someone at Jeff Home Improvement, they sent someone out to collect the rental fans and said that they would perform estimates at that time. The individual who came to pick up the fans stated that he didn't do estimates.
Description of Work
Estimator came on a weekend to examine a roof leak that led to water puddling underneath the home's laminate flooring. He claimed that Jeff Home Improvement had dry-out equipment to dry underneath the flooring. Two individuals came during the weekend and tore up all the affected laminate flooring, and set up three Home Depot rental fans. We asked for two estimates on the roof: one for repairing the damaged areas and one for replacing the whole roof.

Came out fairly quickly to perform estimate. When their became an issue with the insurance company over what was to be replaced, they assisted and meet with apprasier. During the actual work, heavy ice storm interrupted job, but they covered remaining portion and were back as soon as it was over and hed melted enough for them to go back on the roof. Clean up was not as good as I expected but snow was on ground which did affect ability to complete properly.

I FEEL LIKE THE WORK WAS PERFORMED ADEQUATELY, BUT THE PAYMENT PROCESS SEEMED REALLY SHADY. THE PERSON GAVE ME A BUSINESS CARD AND SAID TO WRITE THE CHECK DIRECTLY TO HIM INSTEAD OF THE COMPANY, AND I THOUGHT THAT WAS STRANGE. THIS MAY BE HOW ALL CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES DO IT, BUT IT SOUNDED LIKE SOME KIND OF TAX EVASION THING TO ME.
