Tom Phelps is a perfectionist.  He studies the work to see what would be the best way to handle the work.  He laid the tile floor and the tile shower himself and took care to make sure it was ascetically pleasing.  He has good carpentry skills and a good eye for detail.  You can trust that Tom will do the work the right way.

Tom Phelps remodeled this kitchen in 1984 and came back many times to do other work.  This time he came back to update everything in the kitchen except the cabinets he put in 25 years before...they were still beautiful and are next up for refinishing with Tom's referral.  Tom's two sons and great tile guy were diligent with electrical and plumbing problems that had plagued our old house for some time.  A former kitchen desk was replaced with a new three drawer counter high unit that is fabulous and they installed a beautiful a tile back splash that took a week and is just a masterful job.  After the old damaged formica countertop was removed and before the new granite one was installed, Tom found a new box of drill bits that had fallen between cabinet boxes 25 years ago...they were his! 
Loyalty works for us as we continue to improve our family home.  We'll call Tom and his family every time.

Phelps construction has remodeled our kitchen twice in 25 years, updated our basement, treated a flat roof.  In 2011 I called them to help enlarge the basement laundry room and address some moisture issues.  The spring rains revealed larger problems and Phelps stuck with it trying to diagnose and address the issues.  Besides a larger and brighter, better functioning laundry room/storage center, the new windows and improved window wells have corrected several water issues and increased our energy savings.  The french drains installed in the front yard have also eliminated several issues with rain. 
The price quoted increased quite a bit as we added more projects, but the requests and work were driven by me, not the company.  So we paid feel we paid appropriately.  We got quite a lot done and are very happy with the results.

Tom and his sons did an excellent of replacing our tiles and keeping the mess (from rodent infestation) to a minimum. Very pleased.

Tom has always been reliable. His work is excellent. He uses people I am comfortable having in the house, even around my kids.

The quality of their work was good. They were responsive and punctual. I will use them again in the future.

Said they would call with the estimate. Did not hear back for two weeks. I called to check up and they said they were still waiting for a price on the windows. Another two weeks goes by. I left a message that wasn't returned. Three months later - no estimate.

They came and gave a free estimate. It took them 1/2 day the first day. After the drywall dried, they came back a second time and finished the job in a couple of hours. I was pleased with the work and would use them again the future.

Tom has done three larger jobs for us before, and been excellent every time. This time, his schedule and ours just didn't connect (although he arrived promptly to give us an estimate), and we went with another company. Nevertheless, we will call him when we have something else to do.

Put in 3 6X6 posts and extended the roof-line to replace old metal awning and create larger patio area. He did it with treated lumber, beams 16'' apart. We supplied the shingles. This is the third time we have asked Tom and Co. to do work for us, and again we are very pleased.

Our porch gutters had leaked over a long period of time, causing the wood over the porch to rot. Tom and co. replaced it for us - some wood had to be cut to make a curve, and some wood had to actually be curved. This is the second time Tom has done work for us, and again we are very pleased. I believe his work is high quality, he is easy to contact and prompt in returning calls, and he is professional and pleasant to work with. On both times he has done work for us, he has had a 1-2 day delay in getting to my job from his estimated start date but I consider this a very minor matter.

Very responsive and did a very nice job. The porch was screened in and Mr. Phelps et al removed all the screening and added wooden railings and wooden steps; the work they do is excellent, and they left no trash for me to pick up, which was very nice. The only minor (very minor) issue I had was they did not show up on the day scheduled, and we had to call to find that out; however, they did show up the next day and finished the project quickly. I was very pleased.

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT TOM HAS WORKED ON OUR OLDER HOME. HE PREVIOUSLY REPLACED TWO WOODEN COLUMNS ON THE PORCH OF MY HOME. HE IS A SKILLED CARPENTER AND A NICE PERSON.

HE HAS ALSO CUSTOM MADE BEAUTIFUL BOOKSHELVES FOR MY HOME. HE WORKS EFFICIENTLY AND CLEANLY. HIS PRICES ARE FAIR. HE HAS A LOT OF EXPERIENCE.
