ALEKSANDER SHULKIN PAINTING

Aleks and crew did their usual good job, on time and under budget. Everything went as expected for the project that lasted several weeks. Aleks was kind and patient as we worked through the project. We are thrilled with our new kitchen, new flooring, and repainting. We've used Aleks many times in the last 10-15 years and he never disappoints. We consider him to be a friend as well as a valuable resource for maintaining and improving our home.

Aleks fully remodeled our family bathroom, including new tub, tile and vanity. He also tiled our upstairs laundry room. Both rooms were also painted. Finished the job in five days. Worked hard, always on time.

I am getting ready to do a bunch of things and he is the one I use. I have done work with him that was about $25,000+. He is an excellent carpenter. I had 2 flights of stairs but they also have a landing so they are kind of like 4 flights with 2 landings. I had him tear out all my stairs and he did all solid oak. He finished out the stairs. It was beautiful! They are all oak stairways and he finished them out and he has replaced the entire house with solid surface like hardwood and laminate, and built in carpentry work for built in for the TV entertainment center, put in laundry chutes, built the laundry cabinet, did painting, carpentry, window repair, threshold replacement, put in a wall in the basement, and made a room in the basement. We use him for a lot of things. He has done a lot of different things for us. He has built beautiful oak stairs and the rail in my garage. It's funny because I run across people that know him and have used him and we all have the same thing. He shows up on time and he does excellent work. We never had any problem with the quality of his work. It is very neat and very clean. I honestly can say I've never had a problem with him. He does excellent work and I use him all the time. I actually just talked to him because I'm going to be using him. I want to do a whole bathroom remodel and have him do all the tile installation and I have some other drywall issues and painting that I will have him do. He can do all that stuff. He will change out lights but I don't think he really does wall wiring. I am getting ready to call him next month because he is busy until next month. I will use him by this winter. I am going to have him fix my wood windows and all kinds of work for him. My mom is moving to town and she just bought a house and I don't know if she needs much done but he will do anything that she needs too. We called Thursday and he said he would come over on Saturday morning and take care of the gutter and he did. He showed up on time and took care of it, and we will just pay him when he comes back. He came that fast because the back was broken and we needed the gutter fixed, and it was on the second floor too. One project we had him do was paint the whole house from top to bottom, and I think it was his brother who did the outside. It was like over $25,000 project we did. He took pictures of our staircase and stuff because he uses pictures to show people about things that he does.

Aleksander had laid flooring in my sisters home. after seeing his work we contracted him. He and his crew are extremely professional and helpful. his work is top notch and pricing is beyond fair. He has been punctual, listens to our requests/ideas, informative of every step of the process, clean, and in general is a great guy. Our flooring looks absolutely beautiful and he even made a transition strip, that had height difference between hardwood and laminate, look smooth and match the caulk w the rest of my walnut trim in the home. Not only do I highly recommend him, I will definitely be contracting him for more of my projects in the near future.
Update: Aleksander recommended a contractor to install our carpets. Contractor came out same day that Aleksander called him. After the carpets were installed, Aleksander called us to confirm that the other contractor had done a good job and that we were satisfied. Talk about attention to detail and making sure clients are happy! We were very appreciative that Aleksander followed up with us on another contractor that he had recommended. Supremely impressed with this company!

The entire experience from begininning to end was absolutely fantastic. They came and walked through the job with me a week prior so that we had an understanding on how the job would be approached. Communication with Aleks was awesome the entire time. All of the materials were purchased from Lowes. During the purchase, it was explained to them that we had a rather large get together at our home on 9/8/12 and needed the job completed prior to that date. Lowes scheduled the install one week prior to that date which made us very nervious considering the size of the job. It only took one day of watching Aleks and his team work to feel completly comfortable about their ability to meet the deadline. The most definitely did and the house looks awesome. If at any time, they had questions about how to approach a certain issue, it was communicated very clearly and was easy to agree with them on the best way to resolve. Aleks and his team go above and beyond to make sure that the install is done correctly. I am very happy with my experience with him and will most definitely use him again in the future.

Alex went with us to pick out and pay for the supplies such as grout tile cement shower cabinet supplies. We paid for all materials. This was not a good arrangment, didn't have enough of one kind of tile so I had to go get it, to much of another tile, I had to lug it back to store for a credit, needed grout stain, I had to go get it, I felt like his errand boy after a while. The grout color came out to light, had to go buy a enhancher and a stain, then a sealer, the salemen at the store, Lowes and The Tile store, said one thing and Alex said another, lots of disagreements. The store said we should use sanded grout and Alex said no, it was always something. Alex and his employees are always argueing, in Russian.
Painting was also a problem. He painted our exterior several years ago and did a great job, but the interior was another deal. Alex argued with my wife over the color of the shelving in the walkin closet my wife wanted the shelves the same color as the wall, so they would blend in, he said they should be white like the ceiling, she finally said I pay the bills, and he quiet argueing. The painters were painting around the cold air returns and ceiling lights, rather than taking them down, this was another arguement, he called Alex and I told him I wanting them taken down then painted, he finally agreed.. The next day they all were painting the walls and the samething, they painted around the hinges on all the doors, not bad but not good either
Alex wanted a final check after the painting was done I said no because he wasn't done, still had to work on the grout plus hang the shower doors once they came in. He was mad and asked don't you trust me? I said that is not the point when the job is done then I make a final payment. I said for the last time NO. They cleaned up the rollers and brushes and left. I fround out later that they left the outside water on. It wasn't discovered by me until the next day, 19 hours later.Most of his work comes from Lowes hardware so be cautious there also

Aleksander Shulkin Painting was the subcontractor that Lowes sent out to install the flooring. They were exceedingly polite, attentive to detail and were very anxious to keep us in the loop as to what was happening and why they were doing it; they were wonderful. I will use them again in the future.

Client satisfaction was not priority for him, he was rude in conversation when I expressed my concerns to get the job done. If not watched, expect bad quality.

Went as planned start to finish....each time we have used Alex.

Aleks and his helpers were extremely helpful, friendly, polite and professional. They spent a lot of time at our home, came to work early and worked hard. They worked late into the evening to get the work done. The prices were reasonable. A number of minor issues and requests came up during the project, and they always took care of everything to our satisfaction. Aleks was very reassuring we would be very happy with his work and he was right. He seems to take great pride in his work and in making people happy. We would definitely recommend his company to others and we plan to have him do additional work for us.

Signed contract with his painting co. When completed, he insisted that I make check to him personally, not the company. Front door 'peeled' after about two weeks. He said it was in bad shape before being painted and needed a special acid treatment and repainted. He should have notified me of this issue when he submited the origional contract--he is the 'painting expert'. Would never use this man/company again. Have had house repainted last yr with Certa Pro, great job!

Everything was great.

Everything went well. He did a good job and made sure I was happy with the completed project. We'll definitely use him again in the future.

They are very professional people. They did an excellent job, I couldn’t be more pleased. They are very conscientious; I was very impressed with that. I give them an excellent recommendation. I would absolutely hire them again.

Alex, showed up the next day after my call for an estimate, and then did the work within two weeks of agreement. Alex and his crew spent the first day caulking and renailing the area, then power washed. They then spent two days painting, and I have a small house, half brick. Alex used a roller and paint brush only, no spraying. I have a screened in back porch, I think it is hard to paint the boards and not overlap on the screen material, but they did an excellent job. Alex is here the whole time working along side his crew, he is very demanding of them, and they seem to respect him as well.

My overall experience can best be summed up by saying I would not hesitate recommending Alexander Shulkin Painting in the future.

He did an excellent job and re did our door when we asked him to. After the job we had several neighbors ask him to do work.
