The Bowman Boys Stump Removal

Couldn't be happier! I would use them again without hesitation. The Bowman Boys were polite, professional, punctual, and very very thorough. My situation was a bit "difficult" and they were able to deal with it admirably. There were 3 large tree stumps from 30 year old maples and sweet gum trees. The trees had been planted too high originally, and there was significant mounding of bound roots and soil. In order to grind the stumps properly, they had to go outward 4-6 feet -- which they did. But the biggest complication was that there is no direct access to my backyard where the stumps were located. All of the yards in my subdivision have wooden privacy fences, and access to my back yard is through the garage and out a back door. I interviewed 5-6 tree removal and stump grinding companies, and none of them had a grinder that could handle the job and that was narrow enough to make it thru the 34" garage door access. The only option was to come in through a neighbor's yard. The Bowman Boys had to bring the grinder in thru a gate on the far side of a neighbor's yard, bring the equipment across their yard (which had beautiful garden landscaping throughout), and take out a removable section of the privacy fence in order to get into my back yard. My biggest concern was protecting the neighbor's property and landscaping. The Bowman Boys brought planking and were very careful as they brought the equipment in. Everything went smoothly, and after they finished, they went back through my yard and also back into the neighbor's yard to make sure it was all cleaned up.

This is our second experience with the Bowman Boys. We called on 7/29/14 to request an estimate and Adam said he'd have someone out the next day. Told him that there were 3 stumps each about 12" in diameter. Adam said it'd be around $100 but if it was more he'd notify us and get our permission before work started. Joey from Bowman Boys arrived the next afternoon and said it'd be $100. I showed him another stump that I'd forgotten about and he said that he'd do it for an additional $20. I said to go ahead and do that as well. Joey was friendly and professional. After he was done and loaded up, I asked him about how much a huge stump we had in our yard would cost to take down (just to get a ballpark idea for the future). Joey said he could unload his equipment and do it for another $130 that day. I said go for it. He finished up in about an hour. Overall we were very satisfied with the work done and the professionalism exhibited by both Adam and Joey.

Adam and Joey came out to remove a large bush that had beautiful ground cover around it. In order to ensure tthe ground cover was not harmed they deciided to hand dig up the bush and roots vs. bringing in their equipment. Adam also looked at two bushes (that I thought would have to be removed) that had winter damaged and trimmed them up to try to save them. We have used The Bowman Boys for all our tree and bush removals, Adam is responsive when you call, comes to your house as scheduled and completes the job as outlined. He and his team will ensure that other than your tree or bush missing....you won't know they have been there! We highly recommend them. Almost forgot, the two bushes that Adam saved look really good and are going to make it!

He removed the nine 24 stumps in about 40 minutes! He drove to my place (about 40 minutes) with his Vermeer pull-behind machine to give me a quote. i was so impressed that i had him do the job on the spot. I volunteered to handle the debris to keep the cost down and expedite the job. Iwould and have recommended his company to anyone. His machine is amazing and was a lot quieter than I expected.

My mom received a referral from her neighbor to contact The Bowman Boys as she needed a tree stump and surface roots in her yard ground down. Since I also had a tree stump that needed to be removed, my mom gave Adam Bowman my name and phone number. He called and left me messages twice to get my address and a description of the tree stump before I was able to return his call. I was very impressed with his communication. Later that week, after receiving the quote, Adam's crew came out and performed the work as described. I will definitely use The Bowman Boys again in the future if needed.

They Could not do the work at the time I called, because the ground was too wet. A few days later they pulled up around 4:00 PM and were done by 5:00 PM.

things went very well. he came out a day early which I liked and he was on time. It took him maybe an hour to do both stumps and he also hauled all the chips away. He had the equipment to do the job. He brought this very large machine that went right through the stumps especially the large maple tree stump. He has different size machines to use to cut the stumps out. It depends how big the stump is on what machine he uses. The price was very reasonable cause the other companys I called wouldn't have hauled the chips out and didn't have the machine that would have taken the short time it took him to cut them out. It would have been a little less if he didn't haul the chips out but after cutting out the maple tree stump he hauled a 20 foot trailer full of chips

The company arrived and began work immediately. I was very pleased with the service. I have used the company in the past and I will continue to do so. They provide a quality service for a great price.

I called on a Friday morning and was told that I would be serviced within the next few days. I described where the tree stump was in our yard. I was fine with their process of performing the job when it was convenient to them and their other locations. (If I was not home, they were leaving an invoice in our mailbox.) However, they came that same afternoon. I was home. The gentleman was efficient and tidy. He cleaned up thoroughly after the removal. I appreciate their flexibility of performing the work without my presence required!

This company was great! They did the job in a very timely professional manner. We ask to have the stump area be as flat as possible and they did as we ask with not clean up on our part required. If I ever need another tree removed i will use them!

I would highly recommend them over other choices. the others I called either never called back or would only schedule "about 6-8 weeks" out and only give 12 hr notice for when they would show up.

From my first communication with Adam Bowman, I was very impressed. He was responsive, thorough, and communicative. He set reasonable expectations about when he would come out to provide an estimate, and he stuck to them. Once he looked at the stump and gave me an estimate, he told me they would be out in the next couple days to remove the stump. He called later that day and was out to remove the stump that evening. They did a great job.

They were very quick to respond for my quote and they were very fast to schedule the work. By the time I returned home from work, they had the entire job complete. Very friendly and knowledgeable and courteous. Extremely satisfied with the completed job.

We met Adam at our church and, once we knew what he did for a living, immediately had him send someone out to take care of our dead lilac and burning bush. We also needed to eradicate a large mass of small, grown together stumps from a large amount of tall shrubbery we had removed on our own previously. We needed to be able to reuse the bed with new plantings. We had previously tried to remove the stumps by hand with a shovel, to no avail and not without personal injury. Danny came by, rang the doorbell, and had me walk him through the property to show him each area that needed serviced. He asked about the ultimate goal for each area and fully explained how the machine worked and what the process would be. He was done within about 30 minutes and left clean, workable areas for us to finish, minus any remnants of the previous plantings. The lilac actually still had about a 6-1/2 foot tall trunk remaining. Danny cut down the rest of the bush with a chainsaw and stacked the pieces neatly at the curb for our town to pick up the next day. We were so pleased with the results, when our tall, evergreen bush started dying from a bag worm infestation, we immediately emailed Adam and explained what had happened and where the bush was located. I'm not kidding, the very next day I am working in my 2nd floor office when I hear machinery running outside. I look out and there is Danny, cutting down the evergreen and grinding the remaining stump. I was a little worried about the evergreen's proximity to a large magnolia that we love; but, Danny was very careful when cutting out the evergreen and running the grinder. Again, he stacked all the large debris at the curb for the town to pick up and left a nice, clean bed for us to work with. If all of this wasn't enough, Adam provided recommendations for a couple of other service providers who could handle some other work we wanted completed around our home. Every contractor he recommended that we actually hired was top notch and provided excellent service at reasonable prices. Our home looks great and we couldn't be happier. We would HIGHLY recommend Bowman Boys for any tree or stump removal needs you may have! We're pretty picky about any work we have done around our home, but we have zero complaints about their work. They are prompt, friendly and all their employees are excellent at what they do. It's refreshing to work with such an honest company providing great customer service at reasonable prices.

It went great. They were able to come out within the same week of talking to them. Upon initial inspection they recommend grinding a deeper area around the trunk to remove stump. They they returned to do the stump grinding by the end of the week. It turned out great. They were very professional. They even checked for water and gas lines to make sure their service wouldn't destroy anything else we had nearby. The stumps are now gone. Great Price. Quick service. Fast Response. Knowledgable in their trade.

Awesome job! Even backfilled another hole I had from another tree removed. Made sure we could plant a new tree in the area. They were able to do the work on the spot for much less than other companies. I would hire them again in a second.

We had cut down a dying tree in our front yard. About 18 ins diameter. Were left with a stump that needed to be removed so we could plant another tree. Somebody from Bowman Boys left a note on our front door leaving a quote for the job to ground the stump down 8 to 10 ins below grade. We called the next day and made an appointment for the following day. They arrived on time and carried out the work. No one was home to inspect at the time, but when we did return home they had done a nice job of piling the mulch and leaving the work area tidy. Initial impression was that this was a job well done. However, after we cleared the mulch away ready to plant another tree we found that the stump had been ground, at best, only 4 ins below grade. My definition of grade is level with the grass and the rest of the yard. The tree stump was slightly raised above the grass level and the grinding may well have been 8 ins below the starting level of the stump.... but because it was not 8 ins below the actual grass level we had to spend a painful two afternoons digging the rest of the stump out with an axe as it went down another 4 to 6 ins. At the end of the day believe this was a job half and not fully well done. Maybe we have a different definition of grade but what is the point of grinding a stump if it is not ground all the way down. Overall would give an A for tidiness but a D for the actual grind quality/depth/result.

We found a flier by our front door with a quote from The Bowman Boys for removal of two of a total of three stumps we planned to remove (two were in the front garden but the third was a smaller older one around the back of the house). I called and left a message asking for a quote for all three. Adam returned my call promptly and provided a verbal estimate based on my description of the third stump. He arranged for Chris to come and confirm the quote and remove the stumps within a couple of days. He even suggested that I could go to their website and see a photo of Chris so I knew who to expect at my door! Chris arrived on time and removed the stumps within the hour without a problem. He talked me through what he had done and what I needed to do to ensure grass would grow well over the area. Both he and Adam were extremely helpful and polite. Their price was already the best of about three that I had received but it would have been even better if I had checked Angie's List before he left to get the coupon for 15% off!
