the mattress felt good at store, and for the first six months at residence, but rapidly (and I mean rapidly) began to sag, and the comfort is gone. For a Vera Wang, this is a big disappointment. The warranty isn't worth the paper its written on with this store.

After the first time a guest slept on it they said it was comfortable but there was a noticeable lack of support in an area of the bed. When my husband checked it out there was a dramatic difference when he pushed down in one area. He called the store and he was told that we had to pay $60.00 for a warranty inspection. After about a week I received a call from the inspector saying she would come out on a certain day within a 2 hour window. 2weeks later she came out did some measuring with a string, took pics , and pushed on the mattress. When she came to the defective area the mattress gave away so quickly that it knocked her off balance and tipped the string device over. After the inspection I had to sign a paper saying she did not tell me anything about her findings. She told me if we didn't hear anything in 2 weeks to call the store where we purchased the bed. That brings us to today. My husband called the store and they said the report was fine and the claim denied. My husband asked to speak to the inspection company directly and was told that number is never given out. When he asked why we didn receive the report , because after all we paid for the service , he was told he could come in for a copy of the report but they would not send it. This will not end here. We will be making calls to Serta, Better Business Bureau, American mattress headquarters until we get results. It's going to be a major hassle and time consuming. I wish I had checked Angie list first because the company already has an F rating for similar cases. SO DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. They do not standby their product or warranty.

They said they price match and I found an ad for a different company and called for the price. The price was lower and I called American Mattress to let them know. They told me that the coil count had to be the same. I called the other company back and they told me the coil count was 312. I called American Mattress and they told me that they couldn't price match, because their coil count was 520. When I asked about price matching they never told me price matching had so many stipulations. During the midst of our call they hung up on me. I called back and asked for a supervisor and was directed to Gary in the Greenwood office. I was told that Gary was the regional manager, but is just a supervisor. Gary said the same thing and told me that I could return the product and get a refund, but I would have to wait to get a check since I paid with cash. I want them to honor the price match they told me they could do. He told me the call was being recorded after about 10 minutes of the call, but I found out that they don't record calls.

We ordered it for pickup and brought it home ourselves. They didn't have it at the store but they had it at their storage facility and they shipped it to the store. They were fine and the price was fair. They completed everything in the amount of time they told us. We would use them again.

It was excellent

We had to pay $60 for a mattress inspection to determine if we were eligible for a replacement. A week and a half later we received a phone call saying to come to the store and select another set. American Mattress did not have a comparable set in the firmness we needed (we did not want the same kind of set that was defective) so we selected the best firm set they had. The price was approximately $380 less (after the sale price) than what we had previously paid. We were willingly to upgrade and pay a little more to get a firm set, but the salesman said that was the firmest they offered (we cannot sleep on a soft bed). The store refused to issue us store credit for the difference. They could have offered 50% credit and we would have been happy, but they refused to budge. So we had to settle for a cheaper mattress and American Mattress gets to keep the money we originally paid. Mark Roedesky was the manager making the decision. The salesman we were dealing with had to call Mark at a different store to try to work out a solution. The salesman told me we needed to push a little more so he called Mark - who was at a different store - and told him I had stepped outside (I was sitting there in front of him listening to every word) he told Mark that I was an "irate" customer that had just "chewed his b*** out" and that something had to be done to make this right. I let him talk and decided at that point that this was not a company I would ever do business with again. We settled for the cheaper mattress set and took the loss, but I will never step foot in an American Mattress store again.

We went to several mattress stores. My husband and I didn't have a lot of money to spend, so that quickly limited our options. American Mattress was about the only store we looked at that had a quality mattress within our budget. Most of the other stores wouldn't even bother with us since we weren't spending $1000 + on a mattress. The salesman was OK. Kind of pushy but nothing new for a salesperson. We were given a store sale and talked him into another discount from their website. Overall, I felt we got a very good mattress for the money. We were able to get the mattress delivered the next day. The delivery guys were extremely late from the quoted time of delivery, but once they were there they set up the mattress and took away our old one in a flash. I would recommend American Mattress for someone on a budget that wants a nice mattress. It's been over a year and I still LOVE my mattress.

Overall experience OK. Note that the sales people rotate from one American Mattress location to another, so you may encounter their sales people at any location. We were not the most impressed with our sales person. When we asked Winfred some questions about the mattress, he placed an obviously fake call to someone in order to ''retrieve information'', then lied about the answers; for example, we asked him about coil counts, and he said there were 940 in the mattress. According to the Serta website, there are about 700. We did online research before we went back to buy the mattress. Keep in mind that apparently, mattress companies make the same mattresses under different names for other stores (all Serta, but the name may be Pearl at Sears, or Sapphire at another store) so that it is harder to haggle prices. Don't let them sucker you into paying for delivery, either!! Other than a sleazy sales guy, though, the experience was good. Delivery was next day, and we love the mattress.
