Description of Work: Perma-Seal fixed two leaks in concrete foundation of basement. They were prompt in responding to request to bid, arriving on appointed time to examine basement, and submitting a clear and detailed written bid for their solution to the problem. Upon receiving the contract award they established a convenient time to do the work. Their workman arrived on time, were courteous, and cleaned up after themselves.

Description of Work: Perma-Seal Basement Systems came out to repair some cracks in my basement.

Description of Work: I was scheduled(October 1, 2008)to have a sump pump installed due to a small amount of water leaking into my basement from cracks in the northeast foundation wall. I was most concerned about plugging the holes since I did not want the foundation to be damaged any more than it had already been damaged. After the biggest rain in 100 years in Chicagoland, I had hardly any water because I cleaned out the gutters. Therefore, I decided that a sump pump and drainage tile installation would be overkill. I canceled the work at least 10 days prior to the scheduled appointment. I wanted them to fill in the cracks in the foundation and would have been happy to pay for that. I was told that it was company policy not to do that type of work on my type of foundation. I have been informed that my deposit of $359.00 will not be refunded-even though I had no work done. The Permaseal response: The customer signed a contract with us on 8/21/08 to install a partial drain tile system, sump pump and battery backup system. At that time she was notified verbally and in writing that she had 3 business days to cancel the contract if she so desired. The job was scheduled for 10/01/08. We pulled a building permit on 9/12/08 from her village. On 9/22/08 the customer called to cancel the job; she was informed that since she was out of her rescission period, we had already pulled the permit, and we had foregone other jobs because a place had been held for her job-we would allow her to cancel but her deposit is not refundable. Our position has not changed. We also explained to her that due to the nature of her foundation type(stone)sealing wall cracks was not a viable option. If she desires to have the work done in the future, we will credit the deposit towards the price of the job at that time. When I attempted to cancel by phone, I was unable to get through to a human being so I e-mailed and sent a letter to make sure that they received the cancellation-someone at Permaseal is not telling the truth. I never spoke to anyone and was not advised that I would lose my deposit or that I was "out of her rescission period" or that a permit had already been pulled. They couldn't have foregone other jobs because I canceled. I do not accept this decision-there was no work done and I don't want to pay for nothing. I stated that I would pay for the permit. Final resolution: Permaseal refunded my original deposit less the cost of the permit and a $25.00 fee. I am satisfied.
