Excel Plumbing

I purchased a coupon for $100 of plumbing service for $50 to fix a slow dripping of water from a shower head. Communication and scheduling were prompt and they arrived as promised. The work was completed professionally.
When they arrived and looked at what was required I was told the cost would be $275.00 but with the coupon it would be $175.00 with a 30-day warranty. The option was to replace the entire valve which would be a lot more and require cutting into the wall behind the valve. The $175 price to replace the cartridge seemed high but the alternative was less attractive and I didn't know what the cost of the cartridge was.. From the time the plumber arrived until he left was 1.5 hours.
After he finished I checked at Lowes and the cartridge retails for $40.00. If I subtract the price of the part at retail it leaves $235 for labor at their normal price or $185 for labor because I purchased the coupon. For 1.5 hours that is $156 per hour that I got for $123 per hour.
Really disappointed in this hourly rate and this whole Angie's List Coupon thing. I guess I learned a lesson about buying a discount coupon for an unknown amount of service. You never know the starting point for the discount until it's too late. Lesson learned. Hope someone else benefits from my experience.

Rick got there on time. He was polite and courteous. After he listened to me about my concerns, he checked the sink, the pipes, the faucet and he also inspected my toilet and inside the tank. He showed me where the leaks were and he said all I needed was a new rubber flapper for the inside of the toilet tank. Then he showed me where the leak was on the kitchen faucet. It was in between where the hose and the handle for the spritzer and faucet which I did not notice. I saw water pooling around the bottom of the faucet plate but I couldn't tell where it was coming from. Rick told me how the faucet was put together and I remembered that was what was told to me before. Other faucets had parts that could be fixed. I didn't think it would matter so I decided to buy it anyway. Our water went from well to city water in the past year and the water used to be real hard. Which is h****** rubber and why the flapper and the washer had been affected. This made sense because I needed to change the washers for my outside faucet. So everything he said made sense. He showed me how brittle the rubber had gotten so I could see for myself what the problem was. I really liked that. I also had concerns about the pitch of some water pipes in my basement. He explained that the pitch wasn't right and that was why my sink in the bathroom was slow or would clog. He explained all about it and I could see for myself what was pitched and in good shape and where the one place was, where it wasn't. I liked this very much because it made sense. I never once thought I was being scammed or upsold or anything like that. And I have had that happen before in my life time so I really appreciated his honesty and communication skills. Rick did a great job. He got right to work and he cleaned up after himself and everything works and I don;t have any leaks. He is going to get a bid back to me for the work on that pipe and I am definitely going to do business with EXCEL and have them handle this repair as well. I am very happy.

The technician was very friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely be using their service in the future.

It was a simple fix.  They came and replaced the leaky pipe and showed me the leak had stopped.  It was very quick!

He was great,very practical, and honest.

I didn't do the work with this company. Please i need a full refund for what I paid
I ended up not using their service because the quote they have me afterwards is totally too much. I called them for a refund and they want me to contact Angies list for refund

This was a big deal and it was okay. I paid above the price of the big deal.

Great Experience .

When they came out the first time things did not go well. I was very impressed when I contacted them after the work was done. They asked me to send them pictures, so I did. I was very pleased with there work after they fixed my outdoor spicket.

I have been all my life in retail- and service oriented industries and I know, what it takes to get the business

but how easily it is lost again through poor follow-up performance.

Much of it I used to do myself but now I am 78 yrs. old, retired, disabled after eleven(11) operations on my left

leg with a knee replacement gone wrong, infection and more.

Luckily I get a good Soc. Sec. Check and two pensions so I can afford to hire somebody to do I job for me.

But this job, this man of Excel Plumbing hurt Angie's List, his company and include me, because as important

the flushing of the toilet is in daily life but I have two full bathrooms. More so was important for me was to get the Security-

Grab-bars installed because many seniors loose their lives through falls.

If you have a good installer, handy-person, somebody you trust, please, connect me to this person and a reasonable

price with it.

I solve my problems but often problems show up in many different ways: For the last two years I have used snow plow

services but I could not proceed to look for one as Yellowbook.com supplied me with the North Shore edition of the phone book,

not the LAKE COUNTY one, which has many more people in it looking for this type of service as they do in the summer

the Landscaping business, mostly Hispanics, would need the snow-removal income to get through the Winter. Northshore

lists only a few names, mostly in the very rich Northshore suburbs like Winnetka, Wilmette etc.

Let's see if we can get a reasonable relationship going as I need some help because of age, disability plus also I live since

1992 in this home. That's why to TV's went on a Fritz for me and needed to be replaced and my family helped me on their day-off,

Columbus Day, one a teacher, the other, the son, a HS senior.

Give me a call, if it all helps. Consider Senior discounts with all as I get from AARP, etc., because my pensions don't go up nor

the Soc. Security only in Election yrs., probably next year when our votes are needed again.

once the serviceman got there, he was very professional and gave me step by step details along the way. because the leak source was not known, it was not a routine repair. it required a bit of investigative work. ultimately the pipes were found to be in good working order and the serviceman made recommendations on how best to reseal and re-caulk the tiles.

The clog that I attempted  to remove for weeks was removed in about. Iten minutes. I  was blown away, He then removed a toilet that was leaking and lnstalled a new wax ring.  Works like nrew again.
