They were quick on an estimate, and were able to schedule the work at a convenient time. In my case, the actual cost was less than estimated.
We've used Arco for years, mostly for emergency sewer rodding. In previous calls, the guys from Arco have always been prompt, efficient, and careful about maintaining cleanliness in our home. With our new outdoor cleanout, we can schedule routine maintenance cleanings and avoid the emergency calls.
I will definitely continue to use this company.
"We are happy to respond and are empathetic to the member's trials. We were originally called out to their home June 1, 2010 to check their sump pump system. On that visit, our Illinois state licensed serviceman determined that the primary pump was running constantly, working fine. All discharge piping was found to be working properly and water was coming into the pit at a fast rate. The secondary pump, 1/3 hp Zoeller 53, was also tested and found to be working. It was determined that there most likely is a high water table present, especially, since the basement is unusually deep at 12 feet below grade. The pump would run at a consistent rate, even when dry outside. On June 29, 2010, we were called to replace the primary pump and installed a new PHCC ST1033 1/3 horsepower pump with high head capacity (this means that it pumps more water at a higher distance more efficiently). The work was performed with the homeowner’s approval. The serviceman did not note on ticket that the old pump was a ½ hp pump and when questioned about the job after the complaint was received from Angie’s List on Aug. 4, 2010, did not recall talking at all to the home owner about pump size or capacity. Unless otherwise requested, we replace existing pumps with same size. The pump had been installed and working through several storm cycles without problems for almost four weeks. Apparently, the homeowner experienced flooding problems on the morning of July 24, 2010. As you probably know, Chicago-area highways and many community roads were closed due to flooding. Our area in particular, from Clarendon Hills to Westchester, experienced the worst flooding. Per the complaint description via Angie’s List, their alarm did alert them of high water. However, there is no statement of improper installation or pump failure. Our assumption is that the water was just coming into the basement faster than both pumps could handle. We received over 100 calls in several hours Saturday morning and roughly 50% were due to pumps not being able to keep up with the rain that was coming into basements. We were handling calls as much as possible and we surely may have missed some calls, especially in the early hours from 12:00-4:00 a.m., when all three of our phone lines were not manned. For that, we greatly apologize for any missed calls. Our customer service has always been thorough and that is why the majority of our customers remain loyal and refer us to others. We certainly did not receive any calls from the owner after 4:00-5:00 a.m. because at that point, all calls were being personally recorded and addressed. Unfortunately, due to the weather that day, many homes flooded drastically and we did what we were capable of for our clients. We assumed, since we did not hear from them again, that their problem resolved when the flooding receded. All of our labor and materials are guaranteed for one year. We received no further correspondence or complaints from them concerning pump failure or installation problems. Petr Hornik-President"
